You want to enjoy playing everyone and doing all the combos but the game is all “Nope, fuck you. I’m still Persona. Elemental affinities! Status Ailments! Debuff’s! Wheeeeee!”
Going to have to retry the first major story boss tomorrow after some level grinding and persona fusion.

Honestly that makes me more excited for it.

I hope its still relatively fast-paced like most Musou games.
It's not a musou game with a Persona skin. It's a Persona game with a musou skin. It really isn't like any other musou game out there. It basically is a Persona game with a different battle system.

It is definitely a Persona game, just without the Social Links (they could have definitely put those in). All the same mechanics are in it's just real-time combat instead of turn-based.
Also. . .the script is insanely better than Persona 5 at release (I heard P5R touched up the translation but haven't seen myself). They still have the habit of explaining the obvious but at least the English isn't awkward.
Started playing Strikers on PC. Having fun, but it’s odd how the game seems to swap between using B/A as the confirm button in different game modes
edit: also despite feeling just a little gross at having paid extra for it, the persona legacy bgm is really nice, as you can set it to shuffle through all of the available tracks (and disable tracks you don't like)
I didn't see @Viskod message above but will concur: I have died in the first dungeon on some fights more than once. Not getting an AMBUSH in this game is brutal, and I think the developers realized that - my first death my heart sank at the thought of not having saved in a LONG time. Instead the game let me restart the fight (restarted several times); because of this I haven't lowered the difficulty (playing on HARD) but you can go from full health to 1HP really damn quick.
So fusion in strikers has this mechanic that I don’t think was even explained in game.
If you keep fusing the “same” persona over and over into new fusions the stat bonuses it gets just keep getting bigger and bigger until you could like fuse a pixie and it’s stats would all jump to 99.
There’s even a fusion loop that starts with pixie and jack o lantern and ends up back at jack o lantern so you can just keep refusing and banking stats and persona points.
Also if you ever delete this one or overwrite it in the compendium some of these points are permanently “banked” and new fusions get a portion of them.
Only takes about an hour of running this loop to get a starter persona with 99 in all stats.

It's after midnight and I had to force myself to stop playing. I'm so happy to spend time with these dumb kids again. I'm still in the first jail and I only have a couple issues so far. The sound mixing feels off. Like, speech is quieter than it should be, especially Ryuji is impossible to hear sometimes. Maybe an issue with surround coding?
And.. it feels really hard to tell when I'm taking damage. I'm fighting and suddenly I'm down or close to it. It feels different than a normal musuo game since you start most combat encounters already surrounded, so it feels more difficult to tell where hits are coming from.

The English voices were recorded from the homes of the voice actors during quarantine, a lot of them in their closets.

Persona 5 Strikers on PC if you pre-ordered it claimed you'd get access to the soundtrack and an artbook
And you do! but only through a Unity app that comes with the game. And that's the only way to get at the media, you can't get access to MP3s or anything.
It's like we're back in the early-aughts with data-enhanced CDs :rotate:

Steam has functionality not only for soundtracks to be sold as DLC, but now allows for their download independently of the rest of the game data.

Yup. I dug around in the file directories for the app but everything is packed away, it's not like they're hidden in a subfolder or anything. There's no options in the app to export the files or anything either as well. It's very "well we weren't just going to GIVE you the soundtrack/artbook! baka".
Like, I'd be slightly less miffed if it'd be possible to download the album from like, iTunes/Amazon/whatever for a money (I will give them credit, Persona 5's soundtrack did go up on iTunes at least, but still nothing else to date)

I'm suprised by how much I'm enjoying Strikers. It wasn't on my radar at all, and I typically hate Musou type games. But the story and characters have been super charming, and I'm digging the gameplay! Love the battle music options that come with the special edition, too.
Are they going to release a Strikers Golden edition or whatever eventually?
Hard to say. Game's been out in japan for over a year and we haven't heard anything. Atlus does like to make updated editions, and Koei Tecmo likes to release expansions and craptons of DLC/season passes. But that hasn't been the case so far.
It appears sega/atlus is experimenting with prices for the ports/remasters.
$70 seems extremely high. I'm sure if it don't sell well, they will try a quick cheap sale, and if sells still don't increase, they'll wise up and lower the base price.
If... if it sells well, we will see all future sega/atlus games be as expensive or more so.
At least the Persona 4 on steam has a good price.
I would love to own all the Persona, Devil Summoner, and Digital Devil Saga games on pc/steam... eventually, there are a good amount of them.
Is the "Merciful" setting DLC only? That can't be right, surely?
The Standard Edition of SMT3 includes:

MERCIFUL Difficulty
Chronicle Pack
Adds Raidou from the Devil Summoner Series (Select Regions Only)

Just unlocked being able to increase specific stats with Persona Points.
Totally spending all my points making Arsene relevant.

Kind of maddening they aren't doing a physical LE like the JP release.
I know, that's just easy money they're leaving in my wallet! I don't get it.
It is, but the merciful DLC was free in Japan, so I'm sure it will be here as well.
It will be available for everyone.
