We're told they feel emotions super keenly, and are really open about it, but outside of Jaal sobbing once, I haven't seen any angara actually emote anything but distrust, frustration, and/or hostility, and not in a way appreciatively different than any other race I've encountered in the franchise. Elcor? They're markedly different. Hanar? Markedly different. Angarans? Not that different.
If anything, I'd say they're more reserved than open. I mean, after playing 3+ Mass Effect games, I'm used to not being trusted and having to win over people of all races, so the angaran cautiousness and distrust doesn't really stand out. Admittedly, I haven't finished Jaal's loyalty mission yet, but so far I'm really disappointed. I was expecting the angarans to actually emote, not just generically speak in reverence about the Moshae or generically distrust me.
Well I mean, they HAVE spent ~75 years being invaded by the first aliens they ever met, and now you showed up, and half of you are assholes, so... I'm feeling like they're pretty realistic here.
I'd argue the main thing is they're open about it. There's no "pretending to be nice"; if they don't like you, you will fucking know it. The lack of a shower of positivity just seems normal given the conditions.

Finished the kett ship mission in the middle of the game
Oh my God Drack quit being a little big bitch. Wreckya (that's her name deal with it) is the only original pathfinder of the bunch, and seems competent, I'm pretty sure you forgot about your squad because I sure as hell did so you don't get to be butthurt about them being quasi monsters now sorry not sorry.
Get over yourself. I never wanted to kill Wrex but I definitely would have pulled a trigger on Drack. Let Kesh take his spot on the team.

I think the early writing really kinda muddles this, it only becomes clearer later
The Angara aren't really any more emotional than other species, but they're much more emotionally open about expressing how they feel. That's why it feels like Jaal is hitting on everyone, for instance - because once he decides he likes you he's going to tell you so.
A trap is for fish: when you've got the fish, you can forget the trap. A snare is for rabbits: when you've got the rabbit, you can forget the snare. Words are for meaning: when you've got the meaning, you can forget the words.

Finally scrounged together enough research and mats to make my custom Piranha. That gun plus the seeking plasma is unfair. It decimated everything at point blank range before, now it just decimates...everything. If you're close enough for an SMG, you're close enough for the Piranha.
Now I just need to get some more stuff to make the Kett life steal sword to counteract the bio-converter, and it's ass kicking time.
Yeah it's a good combo. I also added the health reload. I don't even use it except for stuff I want to kill fast or stuff that's generally a pain to kill. I hope they don't nerf it.
Anyone know the shield values of enemies in multi?
The Pull shield restore seems like a no-brainer but I'm mighty tempted by pull dealing 600 damage to shields given biotics inability to do anything to shields and armour.
But then I'm thinking enemies, even in silver, probably have shield values over 600 right? So it probably wouldn't help much anyway.

Well, I managed to pull a Scorpion in MP. It's not the Falcon, the gun I really want, but it's close. I never liked the Scorpion that much in ME3 but it feels pretty good here. Still takes nearly a full clip to kill a single mook in Silver, which sucks, but it's something. Also got the Ashior or whatever it's called in the same pack, the stupid single shot pistol. Never using that thing.
After a couple of Gold matches today, it definitely feels like they want MP to be stationary. I've had the easiest time when the group picks a defensible location and hunkers down there rather than trying to use all the mobility options we've been given.
So in SP, are any of the Remtech weapons good? I have a giant pile of Remtech research that I feel like I should be using.
I've been playing Engineer/Infiltrator, so the Remtech armor doesn't make any sense for me. My main gun is an Isharay, and I also carry a Raptor with Electrical Conduits for shield stripping, Now that I've got Energy Drain maxed out, though, I don't really need it anymore. I wouldn't mind trading it for a gun that can built as a really fast armor stripper or else puts out some AoE/explosions, and since I have all that Remtech research...
I played a similar style, heavy into Tech powers with some Combat stuff for boosting my guns/survivability
Sweeper is great and was one of my three main weapons at the endgame (alongside the Falcon and the Naladen, blowing up all the things)
Remnant Cryo-Gauntlet is pretty solid as a last ditch weapon. Freezing is pretty decent and I'm pretty sure you can detonate a cryo combo off the freeze effect
Remnant Armor is less ideal for that build than the Angara one that gives all the Tech bonuses. But that armor looked dumb and the Remnant armor made me Space Edgelord, so I went with that instead. It also had the helpful side effect of making me freakin' unkillable.

While I haven't played with Pull, it's worth pointing out that two of the three enemy factions like to spam shielded enemies in their waves so it's not a bad idea to be able to do extra damage to shields.
I guess it depends on whether Pull's ability to strip shields outstrips the shields it restores on you. The best CC is death and all that. (Remnant and Kett)
I'm actually less sure it worked, now, because I was in another game with someone using it earlier and it wasn't rendering the explosions for me. So it seems they may have thought ahead there.
And yet more random thoughts, semi-spoilery regarding other MW races:
If the krogan could somehow use 600+ years in stasis to help fight the genophage, I wonder if the quarians could do the same so they don't need their suits anymore. I'd rather not deal with "no one knows what we look like because somehow pictures and paintings don't exist in space, and also fully transparent masks aren't a technology they have" again.
Is there a setting that makes your party only wear helmets when you'd actually NEED a damn helmet? I swear to god that used to be a thing in the others, but at the moment I can only seem to get "never", "always", or "magically disappears in a conversation".
Having them set to "never" still equips them when absolutely necessary. Ish.
Cool, thanks. That'll be close enough I guess. It's just starting to feel stupid as hell that I'm wearing the full space suit when Skippy the NPC over there is just wandering around in a coverall.

On the subject of quarians, I'm very interested to see whether or not their pathfinder has a SAM. And if so, how the writers justify it. I love that AI is not illegal in Andromeda, but I would still think it would be a tough sell to get the Quarians on board with relying on one.
Also this might be a stretch believability-wise, but I would not be unhappy if the emergency the Quarians are warning of is that their ark contains a number of Geth stowaways.

The Quarian Ark has other species as well right? Drell, Hamar, and Elcor.
Maybe the Pathfinder is Quarian.
Frankly, I know the Quarians are a fan favorite but them coming to Andromeda makes zero sense to me.

Quarians make the most sense. They need a place to live period, and in council space they were basically denied that because of what they did to Rannoch.
I would like some money because these are artisanal nuggets of wisdom philistine.
Quarians are the worst, right behind the Asari. They all deserved to die and Shepard don't regret it one bit.
Turians are the best followed closely by Krogan. But Krogan have the same "what do they look like under their armor" thing because they have that massive head frame armor and they all always wear it forever for no reason. Then the Geth are great and deserved to come to andromeda. Fuck they should have been here before you got here and been like "what the shit you think we were doing out in the fringe anyway... Enjoy having to terraform shit suckers".

There are Billions of worlds to colonize in the Milky Way. They cohose not to do so because they wanted their world back. There a whole big speach in ME2 about how they can't now cause they waited so long.
They waited to get their home back for so lomg that now they can't love anywhere else.

Man, finally riding around with Liam and Vetra. I thought this stuff was going to be pent up sexual tension ala Miranda and Jack, but it's just nasty barbs from the bad push-up posture king trying to be the fetch queen in Andromeda. Prolly brought a burn book with him too.
I like individual Krogans but frankly I don't trust them as a whole. What do you make a species that responds to gaining a boatload of world and a second chance by dropping asteroids and starting a war. Who says they'll learn anything from the Genophage?
My race list:
Geth
Turians and Salarians
Hanar, Elcor, Drell
.....
Asari and Krogan
Batarians
.....
.......
.......
Quarians
Like, I know the Quarians are a bit incompetent, but the Batarians are racist slavers.
Better than Quarians and Asari.
Edit: the Quarians are like the south. everything they have done is morally wrong and tactically stupid. They created slaves? Morally wrong. They waged a war of aggression against a more powerful force... Who were their slaves... And betters... And then they lost and can't fucking get over the fact that they lost and it's all their fault and the whole thing was stupid and wrong.
Asari are just the goddamn worst male fantasy
Like at least the Batarians are honest about their war and slavery. (and it's not like beasts of burden aren't things)

I guess I would question the in-universe sense of any of the Milky Way species coming to Andromeda. The nature of the Mass Relay network means there should still be plenty of uncharted space to explore within the Milky Way that doesn't require the massive investment in time and money that a trip to Andromeda does. Out of universe it makes perfect sense from a we know you love this universe we've created and we'd rather not canonize one of the three ME3 endings or deal with the mess each individual ending would present.

THEY'RE IN THE WALLS, THEY'RE IN THE GODDAMN WALLS!
"Hey guys, don't be upset but you remember that blight we created and unleashed on the galaxy back home? We may have inadvertently brought it with us to Andromeda. Ok, now you seem upset."
I guess it depends on how you rank slavery vs genocide.
Quarians are slavers, attempted genociders, and also stupid weaklings who picked a fight with their betters. They deserved everything they got and more. They're lost causers wondering why the rest of the world is complaining about the color of their robes.
Or hell. A geth not only sneaks on board but tries to interface with SAM and becomes the new pathfinder. I want my new Geth Bro, the last one got all broked
"Life before death, strength before weakness, journey before destination."
Like, I know the Quarians are a bit incompetent, but the Batarians are racist slavers.
See heres the thing, all we meet of the Batarians are their scum. Thats how they want things, cause it keeps the Galaxy hating them and their grip on society strong. The Hegemony is Space North Korea, I hate Space Kim Jong IL but not the Space North Koreans. Plus Humanity did steal all their nice planets.
Bioware never gave them a Legion character, never gave use their side of the story. Is slavery common, or just for the ruling class? How are its average citizens treated? What does the average Baterian think of us? We know so little about them, Bioware just took the easy way out, making them a meme and mustache twirlingly evil. Its like judging the Geth after ME1. I just know there has to be more to them than this silly one sided nature.
Plus the whole Quarian race starts a war against the superpower in the Galaxy when certian death is coming. Like Jesus Christ of all the dumbass plans I've heard thats got to be the worst. Waste resources, drive a wedge between the Geth and Organics when we really need to work together, and for what? A Homeworld that they were keeping nice for you. A Homeworld that they would of probably given back if you asked nicely.
So, yeah the Batarian goverment is slaver scum but they didn't start a genocidal war during the Reaper invasion.
Edit: the Quarians were slavers to they just built theirs :P

The thing that really makes me laugh is that the Geth don't even use their home world. I'm pretty sure if the Quarians had asked nicely, they could have just gone home.
As an aside, the Quarians are the Giant Panda's of the milky way. Kinda cute, but so hyper adapted to one environment that they are doomed to extinction.

Bronze: Outlaw, Icebreaker. Assault Rifle Skirmish = +50% AR damage, -50% sniper/shotgun/pistol. No credit/XP bonuses
Silver: Outlaw, Sandstorm. Weakened Assault Team = -25% health/shields. 15% credit/XP bonus
Gold: Outlaw, Zero. Sniper Rifle Skirmish = +50% sniper damage, -50% AR/shotgun/pistol damage. No credit/XP bonuses but it doesn't get any easier than this for gold, trust me.

Nah. AIs aren't people. Just because your toaster is can learn how you like your toast toasted doesn't mean you set it free.
Beat the game. Random thoughts + spoilers:
Is there a way to "fuck up"? Sure felt like I got the "best" ending, and I'm not sure how I "earned" that. Guess there might not be multiple endings, but even ME1 had stuff that felt like impactful decisions.
Are there opportunities to play through again and be a "space asshole"? Renegade didn't really seem like a thing.
Cause of Death: Pathfinder
A LOT of the voices sounded familiar, but I couldn't quite place them. At the end, what's-her-face vas Hyperion sounded super familiar, as did the Australian dude. But "oh, hey, who might I know in this cast list?" is a stupid game. (Except for Yuri Lowenthal, whom I recognized.)
The romances didn't seem as ... I don't know, as "whatever" as implied? Maybe more fluid, I guess, though they were still hard gated behind story missions which meant everybody you flirt with early game comes at you ready to exchange vows at basically the same time.
Also, no awkward sex talk from Lexi? Come on, that would have been great!
looooots of good shit in this game. I played for like 90 hours, 95% complete, but I also played a bunch of multiplayer. Pretty gosh darn happy with this game.
Yeah there were a lot of people I thought I recognized but there is an annoyingly long list of "additional voices" rather than telling you the actual characters. I know for sure that I heard
Liz Sroka and Brandon Keener
though.
re: ending stuff
I know decisions throughout the game have an effect on the "help" you get at the end. No fail ending or anything like that, though.

Geth
Turians and Salarians
Hanar, Elcor, Drell
.....
Asari and Krogan
Batarians
.....
.......
.......
Quarians
Like, I know the Quarians are a bit incompetent, but the Batarians are racist slavers.
Steam / Origin & Wii U: Heatwave111 / FC: 4227-1965-3206 / Battle.net: Heatwave#11356
I'm a pinball of death. I reloaded the kett base on eos just to leave the alarms on so there's more grist for the grinder.
Also i named my shotgun:
Spillin' the Chili feat. Splat and the Kids
It removes heads.
I'm making papa pathfinder proud.

Beat the game.
