I couldn't figure out the banana thing. I expected it to be like a normal stealth section where you throw something to distract them but dropping a banana in their line of site didn't seem to do anything.
There's not much they drop to be honest. After this you get the randos that with whirlwind swords and stuff though
it would have been nice for some optional ways to handle things. they could have had them do double damage or something so you could still try to power your way through if you wanted, so yeah, the instant failure did feel cheap. However, the game has so much variety that i thought it was a nice change of pace. I could see it being frustrating though.

That's not what I was asking, but good to know.
Oh I just meant there's not really incentive to kill the guards.

After hundreds of hours and multiple full playthroughs, I’ve finally figured out that I can get Tabantha Wheat by cutting grass in the West, just like cutting grass in the East yields Hylian Rice.

…that’s what’s missing from the armoury in BotW; scythes! Make it an early/weak polearm but one with extra utility functions in grass like how the woodsman’s axe is super effective vs. trees.

I mean there is a yiga sickle(sp?) ... unfortunately, it doesn't have any special powers/durability against grass ... if it did THAT would be amazing.
So i, err, shot at the bloopies that would spawn regularly near Kakariko village shrine a few times. Then a kokiri in the forest asked me for a picture of a bloopie. Now i no longer see any bloopies there anytime. Did i screw myself by shooting them a bunch earlier, for what amounts to next to nothing in currency?
And now i can only take a picture for that guy if i randomly run into one and are fast enough with the camera to deal with it?

Naw, they're just rare. If you teleport to the Kakariko shrine then walk towards the fairy fountain at night, there's one that spawns right in front of you. I don't know if you can just keep teleporting to make one spawn, or if it only spawns once a night. But it's easy enough to check on until it shows up.

In the next BOTW style Zelda I hope you can find rupees just out in the wild. I missed that more than I thought I would.
You can find some rarely.
I think they wanted the economy to be harsh so you couldnt buy everything but neglected how easy to abuse hunting/ cooking is.

Wooden and metal crates often contain rupees.
BTW you can easily smash metal crates by lifting one high into the air with magnesis and dropping it onto another. It's a lot easier than blowing them up and having the contents fly every which way.
Deep into master mode now, like early endgame sort of deep -Trials of the Sword done, 3/4 Ballads done.
The lynels in the Trial had the fun of being Ancient Arrow'd out of existance. Begging trials defintely felt like the toughest/worst - Middle Trials were the easiest i think (Just so many ways to one shot things)
Gold Enemies definitely have too much hp, and i think removing red enemies entirely was a mistake, as was the proliferation of silvers. More enemies might have been more fun? Gold Lynels are pretty boring to fight. At least the mass of silver+ enemies makes it really easy to stay in cash, and thus arrows. Regeneration effects are super irritating - I think it's a fine idea, but it kicks in too early and regens too fast/too much. Enviromental stuff like smacking enmies down hills etc should really do more damage too - Though this is not a complaint unique to BOTW, it's something i've noticed in other physics-based open world games. Still, i wish there was max hp scaling damage on stuff like explosive barrels - they dont do ANYTHING to silver or gold enemies.
I really like the floating platforms though! Those are fun. More of that sort of weird vertical goodness. (Seriously, give us full on sky-encampents with steel platforms and all the octorocks keeping it alofts so it's harder to ground them. It'd be great!)
Overall though, it was defintely worth buying this again on my switch. (Except for the motion control shrines, which a: need some way for me to actually know which way moving my hand is going to move shit, and b: reset the control the motion controls without resetting the puzzle, like some of hte 3ds games had)
Defitnely want a BotW2. Please include a Wind Rune and a Balloon Rune. It has to be done. (Curiosity: What do people want to see out of a hypothetical BoTW sequel?)
It's not really VR as much as just putting the screen up to your face?
Depends what you mean by VR. As far as I can tell, the Switch will display different images to each eye, so I think that fits the definition of VR. The prerendered Zelda cutscenes won't be supported, though. Edit: But I guess it's still third-person and turning your head probably won't turn the camera?

Yeah that's the thing, like, if turning your head doesn't turn the camera then.... it's just.... just having the screen up close?
And in 3D, sure.

Lion King's 3D release convinced me of the value that depth perception can bring to an entertainment experience. That shot with the savanna stretching out into the distance, storm clouds on the horizon, was breathtaking.
I look forward to gliding around Hyrule with this, watching dragons and storm clouds and sand dunes stretching out before me.
It's kinda weird, I'm not 100% sure I want to play Link's Awakening again. It was the Zelda game for years of my childhood and the first I ever beat, and I don't know if it will live up to that nostalgia even if it's still a good game...

Still waiting for that full concert Symphony of the Goddesses album they said would be coming...
They added so many pieces to it as the concert toured, the 25th anniversary album is only half of it at this point.
Unless Cadence of Hyrule comes out first.
