I think it was more like everything after super metroid or maybe fusion that started normalizing her to japanese animes waifu standards of beauty
It was either the manual or the intro to Fusion which talked about Samus having parts of her body removed together with parts of her suit
So that was still in the era where "the suit doesn't come off" was a popular interpretation of the character
I just realised that my copy of this was 1 metre to my left, so.. yea. The line in the manual is "The fact that the Power Suit contained biological components and was also integrally connected to my body seemed to worsen the matter." and then goes on the mention that the surgeons removed parts of the infected suit before putting a cure together from the last metroid. But then came Zero Mission and the Zero suit, so.. I guess it's biologically linked but those links can be disconnected if the proper procedure can be followed but in Fusion's case the X parasite locked that? Or something. Also at the end of the game you still get the cheesey pictures of Samus in booty shorts and a crop top.
The Power Suit integrates with Chozo DNA. That's how Samus is able to do shit like turn into a ball and shine-spark and the screw attack.
When the X parasite attacked her it started to fuse certain parts of her suit to her, like it was grafting it on. Then they adapted to cure using metroid DNA which created the Fusion suit.
So in Fusion Samus is a Chozo-Human_Metroid hybrid.
This is what happens when your series is an Alien homage and Alien: Resurrection starred a Ripley clone that was an Alien/Human hybrid.

Also, the thing with the "zero" suit: the actual 'physical' external armour is a projection that is created and sustained by the under suit. There's a cutscene or two of Samus in the cockpit of her ship where you can see it deploying just before a mission. Basically a super-dense shaped forcefield that is so advanced it behaves like real matter most of the time. This is why it can have its physical properties changed by software upgrades, uses "energy tanks" for extra ablative armour, and so on. Also why "the Chozo armour" is such a big deal and why the Federation's attempts to copy it always come off as really cheap knock-offs.

I maintain my personal head-canon that Other M was a training mission for a Samus-clone created by the Federation after the original seemingly went "rogue" and blew up a planet during the Fusion crisis. Obviously they needed their heroine but clearly the original was entirely out of control so why not create one? They already had the memory recording technology so they ginned up a clone-Samus and a clone-Adam for extra verisimilitude and ran her through an exercise design to make her maximally grateful to the Federation.
If I somehow magically get handed the creative director role for the Metroid series, the next game will pick up at the end of Other M with the clone being dispatched to hunt down the original after being told that real-Samus is actually a space-pirate clone enhanced with cybernetics. It will have three endings: fight to the finish; acknowledge the truth but go back to the Federation after faking the original's death; and, of course, the team-up!

I mean Sylux from Hunters is probably a samus clone and Fed force implies its the next big bad so you might be on the right track.

There's this game called skyforge on PS4 right now. Some kinda MMO or whatever. Pretty good character customization. Made a pretty long haired lady with cool clothes and she can fire ice magic at people and has my wonky proportions and it's kinda nice haha

I refuse to accept this as actual canon because it blatantly contradicts the entire premise of Fusion for absolutely no reason.

Not really. She obviously has cybernetic implants in her body and the zero suit is the hardware that interfaces with those. Those implants were affected and altered by the X and the metroid vaccine hence the Fusion suit.

The one where she says, "A theme park on the moon?" and he's like, "No, what'd make more money is a dairy farm on the moon," and then ruins it with something ridiculous like, "because the moon is made of cheese, see, the work is done already"

No it's a metroid prime game
They'd actually have to make a new Metroid to make this occur.
That might be Other M.

Ending X: Samus, Clone-Samus, and SA-X have a tea party and settle the galaxy's differences via civilized discussion.
Ending W: Samus and Ridley acknowledge their feelings for one another and get married. Clone-Samus is lady-in-waiting, Baby Metroid as Best Man.
