I honestly didn't expect these bundles so that's quite nice. I can't wait to try 2.0 out!

Nova and Kerrigan are my faves, so I think I'll pick up the assassin bundle for more assassins!

Everyone has a price. Throw enough gold around and someone will risk disintegration.

Nice. So the 100 gems can buy any of the 4 mega bundles right?

I'll just have to sit down and figure out which will be the most valuable to me. I guess ill just total up gold prices of those i don't have and see which one is worth more, although at first glance it would seem to be the support bundle, as there seem to be more heroes in it that i dont have, and a few are currently 10k heroes.

They released the final XP numbers for 2.0 so I updated the spreadsheet.

They smoothed it out a bit and increased the final level from 1.1 million to 1.2 million.

Every change they've done has left me worse off with this which is annoying but entirely random.
As far as I can tell, the only thing that changed since the last update was that increase at the high end. Boo. :(

Also, I noticed the new curve now makes a level 20 hero come up just shy of 55 in 2.0, which is about what the original 2.0 detail article mentioned they would be at. I had noted it was odd all the player-created calculators translated a level 20 to level 58 in 2.0 when they had originally stated it should be around 55. So did Blizzard have these final numbers set internally the whole time and just jerk us around with the numbers everyone was basing the calculators on? :|

No, they said on the reddit thread about the new XP curve that when the announcement was made old 20 was new 55 but then the curve changed and then changed again and so on until we got here.
So they went full circle and basically came back where they started, with a slightly faster level 1-3.

Edit: Thanks for making that spreadsheet, by the way. I updated my copy with the new values of the XP curve. I went from like 730 to 720 from the changes, so I should still be getting the same stuff I was expecting unless I made enough errors to account for 20+ levels of difference.

Since I was in the 720s for most of April I figured I would be OK even if they bumped up the curve a bit, but I feel bad for anyone who was just over a 100x threshold who got bumped down below it by the final nerf. :(

Not sure how they do the calculations for total here lvl, says I'm at 263, but since I don't know, I went and got the last few levels needed to be sure I cleared lvl 200. So I should get two veteran chests. Only question is, now that I'll feel comfortable dropping to a more comfortable level of play, is if I'll hit 30k gold or not. I kind of figure that, I'll probably have more than enough to reroll chests with 26K+ and might be able to grab another hero (though while I'm still getting heroes, I'll need to determine what kind of pool I want to sit on for crate reroll needs).

Yeah, I'd like to think the odds were in our favor. We got utterly demolished. Medivh was very good with Medivh and Tyrande, depsite apparently being L20 with Tyrande, went for an AA build (because sure?) and literally never landed one lunar flare. So like ... important shit that just isn't happening.
    *shrug*
It wasn't fun, but at least it was over pretty quick.

    Quick question about Heroes 2.0

Gold is still gonna have roughly the same value in there, right? I shouldn't spend as much gold as possible before it hits, correct?

It's going to be used for purchasing heroes and rerolling chests come 2.0. So kinda about the same thing. Master skins out, rerolls in.

Relatively it's much less valuable because it barely interacts at all with the new system. Shards are now the currency you want to be maximizing to get stuff from the game.

But there's not really any reason to splurge spend your gold, no.

Basically the only reason to do that would be to get a master skin you didn't want to spend shards on. Which would be a fairly odd situation since master skins are only 400 shards and so not all that pricey whereas 10k gold is still a lot of gold.

And also your gold income is gonna take a huge hit next week when the reward for brawls switches over.

With the mega bundles and a large pile of loot crates. I wouldn't spend my gold on heroes. At least, I wouldn't spend it until I got the mega pack. Duplicate heroes in crates have value in that they get converted to shards and shards might be the scarcest material, so might be worth figuring how much gold you need for rerolls and then grabbing any heroes you want or don't have.

i'm not going to lie i genuinely don't understand why people are particularly invested into renaming class roles
It's not just renaming, but expanding the official roles. This is important, because it gives a new player better information as to how a hero will play. For years we've had to make caveats about heroes like Tyrande or Tassadar, and we have a LOT of tanks now that are absolutely not about controlling the fight/initiating. This can lead to frustration when you get harassed by your team because X isn't what you thought they'd be.

Also, regardless of your opinions regarding Quick Match's matchmaking, more roles mean for more balanced teams.

"I think I'll play some Cassia today!"

*Queues into a 5-man premade of Stitches/Tyrande/Thrall/Xul/Valeera, and then into a 4-man premade of Diablo/Xul/Butcher/Tychus+Tassadar*

    OKAYYYY GAME I GET IT

holy fuckin' moly just stunned for-fucking-ever

we won the second game but it didn't feel good at all! i died 8 times and it felt miserable. we had no peel or hard cc so the enemy diablo would just walk past our frontline and charge me and i'd be dead

also, Inner Light at 4 is a trap talent, don't ever take it. i thought it'd be good cause they had so many stuns/roots but it doesn't do anything. guess what: if you eat a stun/root, you're still dead. and ability damage doesn't give a fuck about blinds.

    siiiiigh

it's hard to say if it was me, or the enemy team, or even just cassia not being that great. i lost the first and won the second but that win felt miserable, i felt like i was dead weight. i dunno.

i don't want to give up on cassia because she's fun, and maybe it was just really bad luck those two games, but she also still doesn't feel super great. and i guess maybe it'd just be easier to stop playing her til she gets buffed again. but god knows how long that'll take. she needs SOMETHING, i just don't know what at this point.

Tried out two more heroes tonight... I bought Lunara when she came out but did not like her much at the time. She seems way more fun now. Not sure if she was buffed or I just understood her playstyle better or what. Kind of satisfying to watch the enemies run away only to see an offscreen takedown message :D

Also tried out Rexxar who I bought with gold awhile back but never tried. Yeah, I don't think I like him. Misha is stupid as hell and seems dumber than even a WoW hunter pet. Requires way too much micromanging only to be super squishy and die easily. And the damage output seemed low... I dunno...

I sat there kinda speechless as it was happening I just kept expecting him to stop. It was so bizzare.

Dibby I had a game like that too, played Tracer into zul'jin, cassia, azmodan, Diablo, Kharazim.

It didn't go super well. I did better than I expected but that was not a high bar.

Hmmm looking at the Mega Bundies I think I can actually get some value from the Support & Specialist bundle? I do own most of the Heroes but there's a few I don't. Lucio, Medivh, and Stitches are three that I don't, and they're in that bundle. So that's good, at least.

Even if I did own every Hero, I wouldn't feel too bad if I couldn't actually get anything out of these Mega Bundies. At that point I'd be like "well I own everything anyway, that's good enough for me, and this is a really good gesture for new/other players regardless."

Aaaalso, there's a hint for the next Hero on the... German? HotS Twitter:

Claw marks, sizzling sound (embers/fire?), low growl... Dragon???? DEATHWING?????????

I still haven't seen any mention of compensation for already owned heroes, so at the moment it's looking like it's a big waste to spend any gold on heroes before you snag a bundle (unless it's a hero that's not in one).

The pre-2.0 period has been a big "interact with the game as little as possible" time.

Edit: I just reread and that's pretty much what you said. But yeah, if you're looking to maximize shards, it will always be better to buy a hero with gold than get it rewarded randomly from a crate.

Or wait until someone else confirms if you get shards (unlikely?) from getting dupe heroes in your mega bundle. Then you can buy whichever has Zera and get a bunch of shards along with it (probably better than the 100 gems anyway). Big IF

    300/500/625/750 gems for Heroes

    Gem prices here:

So about $1 USD per gem, which means heroes have gone down in price.

Yeah, it's almost certain at this point that there is no compensation for any heroes you already own in a bundle, which makes me extremely glad I found out about the bundles before I blew a bunch of gold buying up heroes.

Heroes will run for something like 300-750 gems, as I recall. 100 gems has an approximate value of jack shit, but I don't really blame shyrke for not wanting to use his just for Zeratul. In theory it's still a more efficient use of them, but not by a lot. Those 100 gems might someday contribute to buying a (non-mega) bundle he's actually interested in.

Edit: For almost anyone else, there's no sense not redeeming your 100 gems for a mega bundle.

I got no shortage of gold and it's not like gold is worth much anymore, so I'd rather save the real money for things you can only buy with that or shards personally.
