I'm patching this because I NEED that Dva skin for overwatch. Do you need to win five matches with a friend within the given time period or is participation sufficient?
you need to complete (not win) 10 matches over a two weeks for it.
Each week, you have to play 5 matches for a reward. Skip a week and you have to get through the previous week(s) to get the week's reward.
it's overly complicated.
Thanks. I overlooked the requirement to fulfill the previous week's challenge. That's an important detail.
It's possible to get the D.Va skin in Overwatch from a loot box as well. Though, given the RNG nature of the loot boxes, just playing 10 games of HotS over 2 weeks is probably the better (quicker) option.
Everyone has a price. Throw enough gold around and someone will risk disintegration.

This mega bundle thing is insane. I haven't played in several months, but it seems like a good time to come back.

Eventually. Not right now, not by any known date. The devs said they're adding it mainly in response to console people having no way to get it. For both it and the Genji Oni skin.
Thats what I used to check the overall value of each bundle to me, then I narrowed it down by seeing which of the better value bundles had the heroes I wanted most.
So apparently if I have both hots and twitch running at the same time, after a short time my internet just completely dies for several minutes. Like, cable modem reboot loop and everything. Seems I just can't have Twitch streaming if I want to play hots. This happens with literally no other combination of programs.

Yup. Don't play QM for a real, competitive game. It'd be nice if that were still a viable mode, but it's not really imo
The way you folk talk about QM makes it seem like I would not fit in unranked draft at all
Plus I'd probably need a full group of people my level anyway.
I usually play solo, you don't need to group necessarily.
My main problem with QM is that the compositions you get are often silly, in a not-very-fun manner. But other people play and enjoy both QM and draft, so you should at least give it a try sometime
Qm problems get even sillier when it's people yelling at Varian for not taking taunt and things like that, like in a lot of comps taunt is objectively better, but if you want to play twin blades Varian, where else are you going to

Well, Sinister Strike still feels flaky as fuck. I wish I didn't just glide around my intended target 1/4 of the time.
It's a very thin skillshot. I've noticed this happens from time to time too, especially on Heroes with smaller hitboxes.
I wish I had some sort of secret advice like "well if you do it THIS way..." but I don't. Sometimes I just whizz slightly past my target instead of actually connecting with them. Booooo.

Yeah, there's a few skillshots that are SUPER thin and feel occasionally just stupid hard to land.

I know there's no way I'm going to improve. It just annoys me that they made it so hard to land. Valeera will just be a "forever terrible" character for me.

As an experiment, for the past 2 days I've drafted the best heroes I thought possible and have gone 8-3 in Unranked Draft. I think I'm gonna skip HL this season and see if I can get my MMR reset properly instead of having to grind again.
In Season 1 I had that hilarious win streak/percentage to get from Silver to Plat. In Season 2 I was able to get away with just doing placements to get Plat placement. And then in Season 3, with their redistribution of the population (in particular, dumping out half the Diamond population and moving everyone else downwards) I had to grind from Gold->Plat, and it was pretty painful even though it didn't take that many games. Like, I don't even care if we win at that point, it's just not an enjoyable game when people don't know basic stuff like lane soaking and map rotations or that yes, you will get dumpstered if you dive in to a fight when half the team isn't even there.
I have a nagging suspicion that if I do my placements the highest I will get is Gold. Something similar happened in TL where I went 8-2, many of those games vs. GM-level opponents, and somehow still wound up only in Plat 5 this season.
i just went in-game and picked the bundle with the most dudes i didn't have
This is what I did too. I looked over and one bundle had 6 heroes I didn't have, and another had 8. I chose the bundle with 8 heroes. I'm now up to 11 heroes left to get.
Of course with the other regions, I just chose support and specialists for Asia and the mix one for Europe.

As long as you don't play more then ... I think it's 15 or 20 games, including placements, your HL MMR will not carry over to next season.
But it will take your QM MMR instead.
So there's literally no reason not to do at least all your placements for the free shit.

Ergh... I want to play with friends, but I went 0-5 in my PA group games for the event. And then immediately won when I soloqueue'd, even when my team didn't play particularly well. Even accounting for the stacks having a new player or two, it was pretty rough.
I'm think my soloq winrate is like 20% higher than my group winrate, and that's depressing.
god that is incredibly frustrating and now i hate this 2.0 transition all over again. that is basically nothing away from 1600 shards in value.
Your character level is the sum of all of your hero levels. Just find some throwaway heroes that you're still low level with and bust out a quick three levels on any combination thereof.

right, but i won't get the legendary chest. i guess i'll still get an epic chest (?) so it's only really 1200 shards down, but feels bad being that close.
edit: heh, opening my free 5 loot boxes got my pajamathur, which is a skin i like for a character i would rather throw my computer in a ditch than play. the overwatch lootbox experience is a 1:1 match here for me, my 2 legendary widowmaker skins say hello.
So is there a consensus on which currency is best for buying heroes?
I see that Azmodan is on sale and I remember REALLY enjoying his full court dunks back when I last played. Should I be using gems or gold to buy him? Apparently I have 1k gems and 9250 gold, while Azmodunk costs 150 gems or 2k gold.

I think part of the problem is that there was basically zero attempt at balancing the team.

What, like team comps? Our team comps were usually fine, especially for QM. The problem was people would just randomly instagib at some point during a fight, and we never got any kills before that happened so the fight would just snowball against us.
Like it's impressive how fast I was seeing some of us explode, we weren't even playing against burst heroes and they'd just somehow lose 80% of their health in a second. I'm still not sure what exactly was happening there.
In other news, whoof, Butcher just counters Rexxar so hard. Misha is just free heals for him and Brutal Charge is a death sentence for Rexxar. Nevermind that their team also had Medivh and Uther. That Butcher was never dying.
Ugh. Trying out some more Gul'dan since I got him in the mega bundle. He's strong, but I just don't like playing him. He doesn't feel good.
Doesn't help that my 2nd game was into a Cho'gall with no supports, no cc, and a bunch of mages on our team so we got utterly obliterated as cho'gall does.

Finished my 5 games for this week. This is the first time I've really played since like, early last year. I think I liked the game more when everything didn't instantly get blown up.
I mean, I can see why the game is having trouble getting new players. Even as someone who has played hundreds of hours but quit, I'm confronted with a number of new heroes and abilities that all seem to instantly delete me, even if I'm not out of position.

To be honest I'm seriously considering using one of my RAF smurfs to group w/ PA people. It's impossible to find a good game with such disparate MMRs on the team. So if you have someone at 3000 and another at 1500, what usually ends up happening is that the other team gets a full group with everyone at the average of 2250. It's much harder to carry in those games because they will be good enough to beat your low-MMR players but also not bad enough to do stuff that will let you do things like gank them over and over again (e.g., staying grouped, not venturing out too far in lanes).
It's not fun for the high-MMR player because they can't help their friends by killing the other team, and they also can't help their friends from not dying to the other team beyond really patronizing-sounding things like "don't go there" or "stay with me".

I just open it up and select the hero it says is closest to leveling up and play them.
I've picked up 15 loot chests since the patch this way.
Eventually it'll run out as I'll have no characters 1 stimpacked game away from leveling but till then, good times.
