I think you would have to have some pretty specific circumstances to take down demigryphs with ungor spearmen.
Base ungors? Sure
Ungors with the buffs of a Lord and the Giant Minatour hero? It's a hidden aspect of the whole beastmen army. yes, their armor sucks, but all the stacking buffs they can accrue is bonkers. My shielded tier 1 units had better stats (sans HP) than the tier 2 infantry with the fully upgraded hero/lord buffs. Tie the demigryphs with ungor spearmen and watch as the Minotaur Two-handed units pluck feathers and make some fried chicken.

Any of y'all tried Master of Strategy FOTS/S2 on the workshop? It's interesting. It splits up the provinces into castle city, farms, and ports, which is what I felt would have made the Rome 2 system more interesting and follows up on the idea of villages in Empire and Nappy. Each of these have unique maps. Castle cities have the ones from the base games but ports have fortified cities on peninsulas and villages are actually somewhat similar to Rome 2 style ones. The game has new maps for field battles as well.
Big ships are way more expensive in upkeep and base price. Money is harder to come by. Rather than just Emperor vs Shogun alignment you also have to deal with "influence" from crime via industrialized farms and cities and anti modernization. You can choose to go a more traditionalist route which gives bonuses to traditional units and makes everyone a little happier. The game seems harder in terms of taking territory, and there is three times as much now, yet the load times are very reasonable compared to something like Stainless Steel or Morning Sun.
minotaurs don't work for me. they get auto targeted by cannons and wiped out since everyone plans for minotaurs and makes them a non factor
Multiplayer?
Monitors are pretty niche in comp. They tend to make big targets for ranged units. Unless you're bringing a vanguard build they are hard to use effectively.
My new dwarf campaign where I use 50% or more ranged units in every army....it's not really a handicap at all. So far I've faced beastmen, vampires and orcs. They just...melt away.

Beast Men, Brettonia and Wood Elves all indicate that CA know that the campaign should have a more defined ending
Some of the things I've read about the combined campaign makes it sound like they have more in mind than just a big sandbox that stitched the games together. I wouldn't be shocked if we got reworked campaigns for all the factions as a part of that, especially since they keep adding to the first game.
I have never played warhammer but I enjoyed reading the goofy lore for years. I always thought total warhammer would be the coolest. This game has been a blast.
In other news I am trying to win a legendary dwarf game. It's really hard.

VC if they just massed graveguard with shields and kept their lord from being sniped, you'd have a bad day. AI doesn't do that though.
Demigryph Knights with Halberds actually have worse base stats than their anti infantry counterparts. They make up for it with a very nice anti large bonus. In campaign I'll usually run with 2 units of regular demis for rear charges and 2 units of halberds to go after other cav.
Unless you're standing and fighting or charging armored units reiksguard will have a better rear charge because the charge bonus applies to damage as well as attacking and is regular damage. The larger unit count (2.5x) means you're better off with them. Greatswords are likely even better but don't have the mobility of the cav
I finished my Chaos runthrough after some lengthy mopping up of the Dwarves, and decided to go and take Athel Loren since i was in the neighbourhood. It's a lot of fun! Their settlements aren't walled, they have super interesting units and feel like they're tailormade to fight Chaos, since Chaos doesn't have a lot of answers to ranged.
Seeing Kholek and Durthu duke it out was fucking beef, as was seeing my hell cannons knock tree men down and shoot dragons out of the sky. It didn't come down to melee much, but there was one fun scrum with everyone wailing on each other in a big pile
tried working in a beast shaman, all of a sudden your crappy units can win fights when the enemy has a minute of -60 accuracy. a minute! that's like an eternity. I don't think the competition was stiff but I won two games in a row with it. open with a manticore, buff your beastigors, then hex whatever cavalry is charging in because there will be some somewhere
The minus leadership spell works wonders too as beastmen.

One downside about the DLC for me is that I like to time stuff for them in case it doesn't carry over or requires a new campaign or breaks old campaigns.
Pretty rad. There's also the possibility that the old factions (Empire, Dwarf, Vampire Counts and Orcs) might get some non unit changes since CA have said that all factions are getting changes and this reveal didn't include things like the changes to Kemmlers skill trees w/ Krell.
Not like CA need to give people more free stuff given how much they are already pumping out.
I wouldn't be surprised if they did some minor changes however since they need to get the Old World in line with TWII for when they merge the campaign map.
If you could dream some balance changes to RoR (like a cooldown after disbanding or something) would be nice. Middenland as a new starting location for Empire (with Toddbringer and moving a legendary lord) would be reeaaaaaaaaaaaally nice. Making Mouissilon playable with Kemmler/Red Duke as the legendary lords would also be super nice because it would be a really hard start and give VC some really refreshing enemies to fight.
I don't understand how some of these spells work. when it says in range is it talking about a specific unit or could I theoretically buff/debuff a significant part of an army with one spell?
It probably means "this is how far away you can be from the thing you want to cast a spell on"
Spells are generally either single target (single unit rather) or aoe, it's generally obvious when something is an AOE because you can cast it on the ground.
"Range" is how far away the target or center point of the spell is. If the spell is AoE that will be under "area"
Edit some area spells are targeted but most are "ground". So if you see "ground" in the target description it's almost certainly AoE

how do you guys in the campaign deal with wood elves anyway? They absolutely murder me when I play Bretonnia or any other faction really in army vs army fights
They have no answer to artillery and aren't much good in a stand up fight. Essentially don't let them play their game.
What is "their game"?
Harassment, skirmishing, keeping you at range. focus down skirmishers with your own ranged/artillery and don't break your lines or chase them. Bring shields. Stay focused.
If you let a tree man get to you he's going to rock your world, so take them out far away with artillery or use fire if you have it. Dragons are good moops but not unkillable. You're more likely to face just a ton of archers than anything else. Treekin are great defenders and good at tying you up, but they're not super damaging. Make the elves come to you.
Also bear in mind that if you take down all four of their settlements, they're fucked. Their outposts aren't important, hit Athel Loren hard and fast. Their garrisons are good but don't have any siege defenses, you can starve them out pretty quickly if you're specced to siege. You do take attrition damage while sieging them, but they'll hurt more. You could theoretically take four armies that are good at sieging, attack all at once and end the whole thing in under five turns.

Are there any mods that makes the races more ruin dwellerly?
Are there any mods that makes the races more ruin dwellerly?
@Waffen I've found using the conquer anywhere mod makes them more likely to colonize ruins.
Theres a set of mods for no great power penalty, no difficulty public order penalty ans such. The author has one for making folks settle ruins. Its fun watching people race for it
Norsca looks baller. I think I might do the preorder for the free dlc.
I have myself. But I was always going to pre-order regardless of the bonus because I got a lot of mileage out of TW:W. The fact that Norsca looks fun as all hell is super nice though.
Yeah I was kind of on the fence, I haven't played TW1 in a month or two, but have left it installed because I keep meaning to go back to it.
I always figured I'd get TW2 eventually, but given my huge backlog figured I'd wait until the price came down a bit. But the Free Norsca has probably pushed me over the edge. it comes out in two weeks right?

I wonder if TW2 will get the same amount of post-release support.
This is such a great edition of total war. So many ideas you just couldn't do in a historical setting. Giants as artillery!

Now I want to do my like... fifth Wood Elf game.
TLDR: It's 30 new Regiments of Renown. Pretty cool!
