Fire has niche uses for being able to stack defense down to hit the debuff cap, and helps other party members land debuffs, but she's not very good even if she's one of my favorite characters
Light Clarisse just came out today so there's not really a solid idea of how good she is yet, she can do monstrously high charge attack damage though

AHH! The combat doesn't get better in Besaria, it gets worse! Blast Gauge seems kinda neat, until you're companions start using it when you're in the middle of a combo, wresting control away for an unskippable cut scene that you have to see a billion times, then leaving you ambushed cause the computer can react to the end of the cut scene faster than you! Fuck this game, I'm done!

I think you can set the AI to not use blast gauge.
But if you already aren't digging the combat I wouldn't bother. For a game as long as a Tales game, you really gotta be enjoying the things you're gonna be spending the most time doing.

Like others said there are AI settings duder. Gotta set them how you want.
But yea it sounds like it's not your bag. No problem there. Move on to something you like better!
This is like the time early on in 3U where I was trying to get the King's Frill and just couldn't
And then I was informed that you had to be on a quest for break rewards to drop, woops
the free hunt mode was dumb and misleading and confusing, it's true
It made sense once I understood what it was, but initially it just came across as "Hunt these monsters without quests" instead of "Hunt these monsters in order to gain village points/specific items that can be traded with the Wyverian captain"
Seeing Tales of Berseria on sale is making me consider it. I ended up dropping Xillia because it seemed too complicated. Trying the demo of Berseria, it was certainly complicated, but they were also just dropping you into the middle of the game with everything unlocked.
Seemed like it was easier to just mash out combos? Those were all the face buttons. Then it was like dodge/block, and L2 and R2 both do...something. Seems managable?
I never played a tales game before beseria and it wasn't very difficult outside a few fights where it turned out I could just turn on auto and watch velvet punch the person out

Yeah, it was a bit of a eye-opener the first time I let Velvet be controlled by a CPU.
She became a goddamn combat monster.
...Even more so.

Woof, getting into HR Monhun is rough if you get into it with the mindset of LR
I need to learn to run away sometimes, and maybe not go quite so ham on the monsters when I'm low on health. At least not till I get myself some proper HR armor.

There's a lot more emphasis placed on not taking hits at all

I fucking LOVED Odin Sphere. God damn that game was a nice suprise.
That actually looks cool. Like it's a little mini-game. As long as they make it something that is readily usable throughout the game and not just something you wait to do until endgame I'm quite excited by it!
Too many games make the crafting requirements too high so that the only way you can really get into it is by going out of the way to farm up some materials but for early to mid-game gear that is going to be quickly replaced farming for it is silly. Basically as long as the ingredients for early stuff is readily available this could be real cool.
new light ssr in trial seems busted and specifically great for ferry users
is the era of light upon us at least
are we out of the darkness

I'm not totally sold on the Light trial dude. I suspect they'll have to address his lack of charge gain while defending, like they did with Fire Societte.
that was a... that was a thing. I remember it being easier in 3U!

is she good or something
Fire or Light?

the new one
But she doesn't seem like she's core
Personally, I'm super jealous because I want to draw her

Now I can make a sweet-ass Blast chargeblade.

Keep in mind that the Era of Light means I hope you like grinding for Chev swords.
this new ssr is actually sword-favored too
Already working on it, just about to finish my second one

Well, yeah.
Welcome to 1997?
KH3 though, it really felt like they were spinning up for the release with forward porting the remakes and releasing 0.8
