Hello and welcome, I am your host for the evening: Aldo. So great to see so many of you here. It is going to be fantastic to play a little game with you all. The magical game of:
In this
majestic game of intellect you place lands on a hex-based grid, collect Faeria and place units on these lands. With these units you attack the other player. Your opponent will be doing the same thing, which will result in a battle of the wills and of the best cards and counters. You will be thrilled! Excited! Your brains will be pushed to their limits! Your balls will be tickled in a ---- *mic cut*
Sorry about that guy, let's trim the crazy antics and give you the details you need to know to get as excited about this game as me.
Hey this game is like...
Yes. I know.
It is Hearthstone, Magic:The Gathering and Duelyst combined. I can only describe it as a great mix of a CCG and a hex-based boardgame.
So how is this better than {game I already play}
Oh it's probably not better than whatever your current jam is, but it is
just as good, andcomes with beautiful artwork, a very enthusiastic dev team and lot of value for your buck. Don't get me wrong: if you're tired of CCGs, then this won't change anything.
What do you do?
Simple:
This is your board:
Generally on every turn you get to place 2 plains tiles or 1 special tile. You receive 3 faeria (mana) per turn and get extra faeria per well that you have a unit adjacent to, or move a unit adjacent to on your turn. This faeria is used to summon units or play spells from your hand of cards. Most good cards require a specific amount of special tiles to to be built by you. For instance, that Bomb Slinger requires that you have placed at least 3 mountain tiles on the map.
A creature that you have built can not do anything on that turn. Units already on the map can move 1 tile and attack another unit or the god of your opponent.
What makes it good?
I like CCGs and I like tactical games. This game makes you think a lot about the placement of your tiles and where you build your units. You can only build units on your own tiles and you can only place tiles adjacent to your own tiles or adjacent to your own units. So you have to consider a path to the god of your opponent, defend your own god and ensure that there's enough special tiles on the map to place your most important units.
Where do I start
