You know who had some really good coats of arms, chat? I'll tell you who - the republics of the Soviet Union! Oh sure, capitalist pig-dogs might go "weh they aren't coats of arms they're emblems only nations which subscribe to the failed capitalist ideology of exploitation get coats of arms", but the word used for these in Russian is the same as the word they used for heraldic coats of arms, so suck it, bourgeoisie.

Look at that beautiful thing. I haven't ever even been to Karelia and yet I long, wistfully, for its beautiful waters and fresh pine scent.

I am weeping with joy for the sun which dawns over our glorious socialist future.

Actually elki I realized I don't have any books focused just on the Opium Wars

But if you want a solid book on late imperial / modern Chinese history, Spence's In Search of Modern China is quite good, ch 6-7 cover the first opium war period

    https://www.scribd.com/doc/40662560/Spence-Jonathan-D-The-Search-for-Modern-China-1990

This was like the first result I got on google so I assume it's legal?

A trap is for fish: when you've got the fish, you can forget the trap. A snare is for rabbits: when you've got the rabbit, you can forget the snare. Words are for meaning: when you've got the meaning, you can forget the words.

Philosopher Roger Scruton dismisses A Thousand Plateaus as "nonsense" and "unreadable".

hm yes okay well let's see what this guy has to say in terms of philosophy
He defined post-modernism as the claim that there are no grounds for truth, objectivity, and meaning, and therefore conflicts between views are nothing more than contests of power, and argued that, while the West is required to judge other cultures in their own terms, Western culture is adversely judged as ethnocentric and racist. He wrote: "The very reasoning which sets out to destroy the ideas of objective truth and absolute value imposes political correctness as absolutely binding, and cultural relativism as objectively true."

okay well I may not agree per se but I wouldn't say this guy is a complete crank
Scruton argued further that gays have no children and consequently no interest in creating a socially stable future. He therefore considered it justified to "instil in our children feelings of revulsion" towards homosexuality, and in 2007 he challenged the assumption that gays should have the right to adopt.

oh okay there we go, throw this man in the garbage

Down a kg this week, which means I'm down 2.5kg this month

Considering that month included a trip to Glasgow where we ate KFC every day, I'm pretty ok with this

Finally killed the hunter in the Grand Cathedral last night. He was a cheap little bugger and no mistake. Lost count of the number of times I had him down to a sliver only for him to shoot me and do a visceral attack and one shot me. Left to do:

    Ebriatas.
Three hunter fight in the Unseen Chapel.
    DLC.
As much Chalice stuff as I can be arsed to do.
    Mergo and the last bosses.

And that will be me done with Bloodborne.

Bergen was the warmest city in the kingdom on Sunday, with 20,4 degrees. It will be a long good while until we can expect another day to be above 20 degrees. Booo.

The prime minister (from Bergen) has publicly apologized for saying "søppel" (east norway word) instead of "båss" (west norway word) for trash.

And in Stavanger, a man was waving an axe about, refused to stop doing so, showed no signs indicating that he was going to change his mind about waving the axe about, and started advancing on the police with said axe, probably not to hand it over peacably, so the police shot him. In the leg. Last report is that he's still unconscious in hospital. Going to wake up to being charged with threatening a police officer. Gotta be fun.

interviewed not long thereafter, the ladies you can see at the table there in the background could inform Stavanger Aftenblad that they did indeed finish their lunch after seeing a man get shot.

it's a peregrine falcon. And a rather handsome one.

    pdiKOZQ.jpg

That being the county (fylket) administration's building, the falcon has gotten the simple nickname fylkesfalken, the county falcon.

Nobody speaks danish but if you try real hard you can at least understand it and speak Swedish back to them, never met a Dane that couldn't understand Swedish.

Also I have been playing this game which is set in Abdhy's country and has been a thoroughly enjoyable experience so far! It's got turn-based combat and important decisions and skill checks and branching storylines and all sorts of neat abilities and lots of depth.

    It's p good, is what I'm saying.

important to note: only if they try, too.

When the danish speak danish like they would to another dane, I'm fucking lost. I genuinely have an easier time understanding german, a language I don't know at all.
