A lot of people are saying it's because they aren't limited time units that'll stick around as 5-stars. It makes sense to me, the banner name has a different prefix than the seasonal banners. BUT if someone wants to show me an official source explicitly saying that, it would do a lot to put my mind at ease.
Click the message board in the upper left of the home screen, scroll to bottom and hit next page, scroll down to the "new heroes are here" announcing the brave banner. Second bit of red text: "After this summoning focus ends, these new Heroes will continue to be available through summoning."

Nice. For a moment, though, I thought, "Why even keep pulling?" But then I remembered that Ike and Roy are two of my favorites. :P Definitely not gonna spend money now, though, which I was absolutely considering.
I mean, the characters on the Brave banner are some of the most ridiculous characters we've ever seen, so if you've got a decent pity rate going to should definitely keep pulling on it because whatever is coming next, it likely won't be as good.
The other game I play is FFRK and I feel like the gacha is less kind here, so my advice is not to spend money!
Besides, you would technically be more justified in doing so for limited time heroes, like the spring or summer banner.
I think there is a distinction to be made here, after the last argument about this topic. In terms of the rewards they hand out with the daily logins, they're probably one of the most generous games I've played, giving out almost 300 orbs the past couple months.
The problem is when you try to translate that into actually usable characters with, as you said, the hateful gatcha rates (I probably poured every single one of those 300-ish orbs last month into chasing hector and summer corrin, with only this fucking chrom to show for it). At least with something like pad, there are niche uses for a lot of the marginal 5*s (closer to the equivalent of 4*s here), and even the analogues of beruka or male corrin can just be sold for the 3rd currency, instead of an insultingly low amount of the already somewhat plentiful feathers.
(Even as bad as any of these games get, they're still better than MPQ's ~1% chance at getting 1/13th of a usable character randomly chosen from a pool of like 60 characters)
Oof, whelp. Farewell 4.25% pity rate, I hardly knew ye. I suppose I'll have scraped together 10 orbs by Thursday for two last shots at Lancina but I'm not holding my breath.

However, I think their orbs are overpriced. I would pay $5 for a Hector or Lancina or whatever, but I'm not paying $5 for a 3% chance of a character I want and a very high chance of another 3* Beruka or Olivia or whatever.

I've spent money twice, just an iTunes gift card here and there. The first time was during Hero Fest 2, and I was immediately rewarded with Ike. The second time was during Sacred Stones, and I was rewarded with... nothing! Well I got a Fae, which I was happy about, but still. I think I'm good for the time being. Soon, I won't even be spending orbs! We'll... see how long that lasts.
I bought a lot of orbs in June for... some reason, and even more in August for Summer Corrin, Amelia and Hector. The return on your cash really is incredibly poor.

I already blew tonight's prize orbs and got: Soren! I like Soren! But this is my fourth one. I went from zero to four over a week or two. At least this one's finally a good nature: +Speed -Defense. Selena and Barst... At least it's not Bartre. Reposition fodder's nothing to sneeze at. Oh, and a Cherche! I only had the one at the moment, and I've been meaning to start merging her... Oh hey, +Attack -Res! Guess I'm feeding my old one to the new one!
I fed a 5* Camilla to my Cherche for Brave Axe+, then noticed she was -Atk. Oh my god, she was so difficult to level, she struggled to kill anything.
Thankfully since then I've picked up a +Atk Cherche, and it is ridiculous the difference that 6 attack makes.

I still haven't made the jump from Brave Axe to Plus. I've ranked up units to 5* before just for the purpose of being eaten, (Odin, Frederick, and Gordin) but I dunno if Cherche is high enough a priority. I'll probably end up with a 5* Brave Axer at some point that she can eat. That said, I'm considering ranking up my Roderick to feed to Cordelia...

Damn I have like 64 orbs right now. Gonna be hard to resist pulling :P Also, almost done with Tempest Trials. Up to 43k. About 7k more to go. Not sure if I will try for more after that, if only to try and build my rank up some more. Those rank feather rewards look like no joke.

Lucas makes a good wall if you don't have Effie. Give him Ignis, Quick Ripose and Threaten Attack and watch sword and lance units die when they attack him.
Or give Fortress Defense to your healers. Azama with Fortress Defense has been quite handy in trials.

Mehhhh. There's some SI fodder in there, but I probably won't use most of these units. I'm training up a Lukas, so I'll get some use out of Henry's Ignis, and Palla's got some good shit, too. Goad Fliers, Wings of Mercy, Moonbow, Ruby Sword+. Athena's got Wo Dao+ which is great but I don't really have anyone to give it to. My only max level sword users at the moment are Olivia (who's getting Palla's Ruby Blade+) and Marth (Mask), who has Falchion.
So this pull has basically been "who is Olivia eating for breakfast".
327 orbs, another four left in the tempest... when will we finally confirm the banner and Nephenee's status therein?? Only two days left on the brave banner and I still want Bike... but color sniping with even 200 orbs often isn't enough...
Just hit 10k in Tempest Trials. Trying to decide if I want to push for 5* masked marth or not. I wasn't able to auto-battle during work today because I didn't want to waste my 3x bonus on auto-battling.

I'm up to like 47k, so getting close to "done" (though I may keep going a bit, just to see if I can rank up). Also getting close to 20k feathers again. Really debating if I should promote this +ATK/-HP Cherche. She's *almost* perfect IVs, though Cherche prefers -RES. So it's like, do I keep trying to get a perfect one? I think regardless I wait until Friday because new banner means probably pulling more greens (assuming it has a green on it). She's also gonna need a Brave Axe+ at some point (she has regular brave axe), but I think higher priority is fixing my -ATK 5* Cherche first :P Already promoted Donnel to have Effie eat his Brave Lance+ :P Feels bad tho, I was realllllll tempted to get him to 40 just to fill out the 40 support whatever thingy in the pokedex, but that's too much effort :P Maybe someday I'll promote a Donnel for reals. I still hate eating 5*s though, it feels wrong...

This is super simplified (doesn't account for the pity rate, sets with 0 or 2+ green orbs) but I'm honestly surprised that it's that bad.
