Know any seamstresses/tailors in your social circle/friends/family?
Faux leather might not be an easy repair to do, but depending on their expertise and materials/equipment available, I can't imagine it's an impossible task either.
I've had 3 hoodies repaired to date; 1 had a zipper replacement due to a break, and then later that same one and another had cuff replacements (along with an elbow patching), with the third one needing a repair due to catching a pocket on something and tearing it a bit when I pulled away.
I've definitely got another hoodie that could use a cuff replacement, and the 'performance hoodie' that I adore in the winter is getting rough (cuffs coming apart, a common complaint, plus damage forming at the seams on the side of the arms).
Now, I have few complaints regarding the craftsmanship, I sincerely don't think that when they made them they expected anyone to wear them year in and year out for half a decade or more in some circumstances.
But long story short, it's at least worth asking around to see who might be able to help. Maybe the time/effort/materials make it too expensive or too much hassle to bother with (for you or them), but I've had some luck in getting items repaired thus far.
First they came for the Muslims, and we said NOT TODAY, MOTHERFUCKER!

Guyz. Guyz. I've never mentioned it in this thread, but I collect these huge 1:3 scale articulated dolls (called ball jointed dolls, or BJD). I got a new one in today that's part of a "Semi-real" line by the brand I collect. They created this line specifically so that they could start licensing video game characters (currently all their licensed dolls are based on anime). I bought the first of the semi-real line and she was delivered today. Looking at her I realized: She is a PERFECT Commander Shepard. I will make Shepard cosplay for her if it kills me.
Semi-real is right... The face looks way too anime to make a proper Shepard.

Thanks for your input, I guess?
Edit: Honestly, your response comes off as really hostile. I think I properly prepared the reader for something partially anime since the doll line up until now has been entirely anime, and I spoilered the doll so you wouldn't have to look at it if it's not your thing. Shitting on my hobby just because it ain't your style isn't cool. It's not like I'm going to pop her butt out bishoujo statue style or something.
C'mon, it's totally normal for your friendly subordinate to wear a latex suit and stripper dance in your quarters. Don't make this weird. You know how HR has been since the scale itch thing.
I remember wanting to romance Kelly when I played ME2, and got to the dancing in latex part for me and it just felt so...weird. Like lets have you dance and then we'll awkwardly (to be fair, this was probably the animations fault) snuggle on the bed. And then it never comes up again, and you can't go any farther.
So in my head it was two people thinking they were really into each other until they started interacting romantically and then realizing that...no, they're really not.
My Shepard was still nice to her, and I was pissed that she died on my playthrough of ME3.

Cambiata I love you to death but nothing about that strikes me as Commander Shepard. Like, at all.
That's hits me as a random brunette anime doll. To me Shepard is a filter-less redhead that puts up with absolutely no bullshit from anyone under any circumstances. That doll looks like Major Kusanagi's annoying little sister.

I mean, cant you modify your character's appearance pretty extensively in ME3. I remember being pretty impressed with what you could do at the time, and there were certainly eye size options etc. Not as anime level as the doll, but enough that that could capture the feel of cambiatas sheperd I'm sure.
But, since sheperd can have so many looks, there's not really anything which is or isn't sheperd. My sheperd was a dirty blond 45 year old guy with a scar and a broken nose. His defining feature was his wavy hair.
Well *I* can't wait to see Cambiata show off Shepard's outfits. If you didn't heavily modify your Shepard's armor (and change up their casual wear) then I question if you actually played Mass Effect. :P

My favorite femshep was one of the ones they had people vote on, and she had short dark brown hair. I had that image as my desktop wallpaper for a long time. That's not everyone's Shep, but that's my favorite Shep.
I will also probably try to do the purple-blue armor shade I did in ME2 and I know exactly where to get the paint for it. Eff the haters, I do what I want.

I discovered I had never 100'd Mass Effect 1 so I decided to jump back in with a few beers. I needed 75 hacking, stasis, neural shock and an Insanity run. The attacks were easy enough as you can hit the mako for Neural Shock and the fast travel kiosks for most of the others.
Insanity isn't.... hard. Just tedious.
But I did find a glitch to equip any armor on any character. So my sentinel space wizard wearing heavy Colossus X has made things somewhat smoother.
2 is still my favorite but there's a sort of retro synth charm about 1 with the music and atmosphere and galaxy building. It's been a blast.
Yeah, Insanity isn't really ever tough in Mass Effect, it's more frustrating because they mostly just strap another shield bar (or more) on top of whatever the enemy normally has.
Super Armor (Light Human with 80k shield) and Super Gun (AR with 25k damage per shot) can make things hilarious though. Garrus sometimes even manages to stay vertical!

Even on Insanity Garrus with the Spectre sniper and Phantom X armor with the built in accuracy boost is pretty much one shotting dudes left and right.
Eh, Insanity IS tough, just not always where you expect it to be. The Moon Quest in ME1 is INTENSELY vicious on Insanity. I made my way through it by sending my teammates into the room with 5 rocket drones over and over again until they were chipped down to killable levels. Abusing Singularity and Lift was a MUST on organic enemies I found.
In ME2, recruiting Mordin is horrible beyond belief. You're still fairly weak and EVERY enemy is shielded. So while in a normal play through, dog enemies are meant to harry you and weaken your barriers to allow for killing blows, in Insanity, they're armored little mini bosses that come barreling down corridors to murder you. Also, EVERY Collector fight needs to be done from as far back as possible, because every little husk who comes running is armored up and the guys who do Shockwave can end your mission stupid fast. The Suicide Mission is thankfully not as bad as some of the earlier ones because at that point you should be as OP as possible if you've been leveling and gearing up correctly.
In ME3, the opening of Insanity Citadel DLC is pretty handily the hardest mission in the game? Maybe some classes have it good, but as a Vanguard, you're fighting ranged sniper enemies who you cannot charge because their positions are not terrain Shepard can walk on. The game forced your loadout to have this short range SMG gun and nothing else. Oh, and no teammates. Kind of ruins the fanservice celebration feel of the thing when you're pinned behind a column by sniper fire with an empty close range weapon and no health bars left, with a fancy dress as your only armor...

I did Pinnacle Station for the first time this year, on a run where I thought "ach I'll finally go get that Insanity badge to make it interesting" ....yeah that was an experience with that one level where it's supposed to give you more time when you kill stuff right up until it decides to stop doing that and you have to frantically rack up points and you sold your tungsten ammo ages ago because it's not actually that good in the main game.
seeesh everything else in the game was fine but that level took me an entire afternoon

Also that mission invalidates the Cloak because activating any tech power tells the enemy where you are.
So you have a sneaking mission where the one place it should be Awesome Time for the Infiltrator and they're cut off at the knees.

The start of Citadel was so hard as an Engineer on Insanity that I used a save editor to make myself a Vanguard. Things worked much more smoothly after that.
Pinnacle Station on Insanity is bar none the most frustrating experience I’ve ever had with Mass Effect. Especially the final couple minutes of the final fight. It made me rage quit on more than one occasion.

Now you've forced my hand. I guess I'll have to make this girl some armor too.
Will that work? Or maybe I should do this one, so that Shepard will have elf ears.
If you thought that first doll was max anime, you were sorely mistaken, my friend.

I found a 3d file someone had made of the Claymore for printing, uploaded the file to Shapeways, resized it to 34% and placed an order for printing in plastic. Not sure they'll be able to do it, but I hope they will!
The only really challenging part of Insanity ME1 Infiltrator I remember is the fight after rescuing Liara. Because you're forced into close quarters with krogans and I didn't have inferno or polonium rounds by that point.
I don't remember Luna being a problem. I think everything was solved with foot-sniping and liberal application of grenades. And also getting out of the Mako to snipe everything, including on Virmire.

2nd Edit: Also anime Mass Effect 100% already does exist.
So what kind of Shepard cosplay are you going for? Casual, N7 Armor, just-watched-her-squad-die-on-Akuze?
I want to make one of the armor sets, but I'm not against a uniform also. I'll have to load up the game and see what appeals to me most.
