In the Hearthome gym, I answered all the questions correctly and went straight to the leader, not knowing that I was bypassing all the side trainers on the way. Did I miss anything major?
One of the trainers has a Drifloon, and if you don't catch one yourself I'm not sure when you will get another chance to see it. Fortunately, today is Drifloon day so you can just go to the Weatherworks and catch that one.
I got my ass handed to my at the second gym, not having any fire pokemon wasn't helping. Is it true the only fire pokemon you catch in this game is a Ponyta? What were they thinking?
Anyways, I decided to head back to the main city, and found that some nice japanese chap has left me a newly hatched adamant chimchar

you seem to have forgotten flying > grass.
and no, theres others, but up to that point in the game? yeah only ponyta which is conviniently located east of the city. just like machop is conviniently located north of the first gym.
Forget Ponyta, get a Starly. It's good early on and it only gets better. Staraptor is fantastic.
EDIT: Chimchar is good, but get a Starly anwyay. You won't regret it.

+ Best Buy is really gay and shipped my Pearl seperate from my DS Lite. Right now it is about 5 hours away from me. This sucks, cause I thought I'd get it today but I really don't think that's gonna happen.
+ I'm impatient and I want to play it. If I buy Pearl at my local EB Games, and keep the receipt.. can I return the game I get from Best Buy (it'll be shrinkwrapped and new) and get my money back?

This is what I would think as well. If you ordered it from Best Buy, you should be able to return it at Best Buy.

Actually I looked it up and it's 3 hours. I just have no faith in the Postal Service, so I assume it'll take a bunch of unecessary stops and not get here.
I was raising a Hitmonchan right now was wondering if the Iron Fist ability worked similar to the Technician ability? Does this beef up all Punch moves by 1.5? What constitutes a punch move (I assume that anything with Punch in the name is one, like Ice Punch and Fire Punch, but what about Sky Uppercut?)
I posted this a while back but never got an answer. Does anyone know anyone?

Oh, I was hoping for the 50%. Still, that is very good and I cannot complain, especially Sky Uppercut getting it, even though it is not the most accurate attack in the world.
How does the swarming thing work? How is it triggered?
Head to Dawn's house near the professor's lab in Sandgem, and talk to the little girl. She'll tell you what's swarming and where (it'll also show up on TV, but that's random, the girl's always there). Then you just need to head there and start looking. Depending on what it is, over half the encounters in grass could be the swarming pokemon (Yesterday I had a magnemite swarm at the ironworks, and you couldn't swing a cat for all of them.
I think you need the national dex first, though - the pokemon that swarm are all national dex species.\

the natures arent anything to shake a stick at, but u can always breed for a better one (which is what i plan on doing)

I could use one. Anything in particular you want for it? Offhand, I've only got shieldons, lileeps, an aerodactyl, and I think I have fossils of the other two first gen that I can revive.
