Sanrio Character Ranking [chat]

Guys, you know what time it is? I'll tell you: it's time for the 32nd Sanrio Character Ranking! All your favourite Sanrio characters - not any of those San-X malcontents, and yes I'm talking about you Jinbesan you handsome rogue - are competing to see who is the most popular character in the Sanrio multiverse.

Since poll chats are the next big thing sweeping the nation, let's have our own character battle, based on the current Top Ten Contendors to the Kyara Throne of Sanrioland.

Now, you may notice some characters who are missing - such as Retsuko, or Bad Badzt Maru - but unfortunately they aren't in the top ten contendors list according to the current votes on the official website, and as such have been eliminated from the candidacy in this poll.

That aside, it's time to showcase these adorable little intangible commodities!

First up, we have Cinnamoroll, the fluffy happy friend who has been internet bullied.
pUpsL53.png

Second, it's Pompompurin, a character I have never seen before but I'm guessing is some kind of dog???
SUpPWHU.png

Third, it's My Melody, a character I mostly know because Madoka Magica had a crossover collaboration with her!
vjbI0vN.png

Fourth, Gudetama, the egg who is lazy and maybe depressed if you identify patterns with his whole schtick!
GHzd0n6.png

Fifth, it's SHOW BY ROCK!!, who I have also never heard of but seems kind of interesting??
vMoqBPZ.png

Sixth, Little Twin Stars, who I think should be ineligible for this poll unless they are actually a single entity in a multi-bodied hivemind!
GwbkFVl.png

Seventh, KIRIMI Chan., everyone's favourite sentient magical salmon cutlet!
SgTw3W3.png

Eighth, Hello Kitty, the veteran of the Sanrio stable!
ZbCSg37.png

Ninth, Kuromi, some kind of goth cat goblin!
zY5B3qc.png

Last, but not least, it's YOSHIKITTY, who is actually based on a Japanese musician named Yoshiki for some reason!
73H0Lup.png

Who is the best kyara? Find out, in 100 pages!

    Little Twin Stars
I am a Gemini. Therefore, my horoscopular vote goes to the Little Twins.

EDIT: Also, I'm an INFP, Enneagram type 2, and I like hiking, yoga, kayaking, traveling, and relaxing, all at the same time. I'm looking for a partner in crime to go on adventures and *vomits*

I previously postulated to EM that mixing blood via marriage ties seals a very real sense of family resulting from mutual investment between the two parties, in addition to the intangible yet profoundly real connection all parents have towards their children, and their children's children, even if dynastically the children are of a different house

This plus the inability to understand why one would choose a foolish son rather than some bright ambitious young noble has made me suspect that EM wouldn't love his own children, whom he claims to so desperately want spawned

    EM: child killer?

I don't know why but I really wanted to pick kirimi-chan

What a glorious specimen of a culture I don't entirely understand - and is that a yakitori stick in his hand??? (likely a royal sceptre but...)

First off, Kirimi definitely identifies with female pronouns you fak

Second, that's her magic salmon stick which she uses to transform into her magical girl/salmon cutlet persona

please reference this theme song animation for further details

What's more interesting to me about Kirimi (and I need to think of a good hook for an article about) is that although Kirimi-chan is a sentient salmon cutlet with catchphrases like "please eat me, I'm delicious!" who also has a magical salmon stick she can use to bring love and salmon to all, there's an entirely distinct set of kyara merch for Kirimi-chan as a magical girl (and all of her friends in human form)

    Qi1HNTp.gif

    this simultaneous multiplicity...

Can I change my vote to Pompompurin? He's actually quite cute yet dignified, plus he appears to be wearing an acorn hat or is, quite possibly, an acorn

the other day I was thinking about the King Arthur mythos and how it fits very well into the simonwolf theory of quantum entertainment

You've got Disney cartoons existing alongside things like Mists of Avalon and First Knight and they are all true at once and even a film like the new one which is like the bastard child of a dozen screenwriters and the editorial staff at a lad mag somehows works as part of the Mythos.

Pompompurin (ポムポムプリン, Pomupomupurin) is a good-natured Golden Retriever dog character introduced by the Japanese company Sanrio in 1996. Purin was born on a sunny day on April 16th. Pompompurin lives in his own basket in the entrance hall of his sister-owner's house. His trademark is his brown beret that is always on top of his head.

Pompompurin's interest is collecting shoes, which includes his owner-father's leather shoes, one of his owner-mother's sandal, etc. He likes to hide them. Pompompurin loves drinking milk and eating cream caramel pudding that his mother makes. He also spends a lot of time sleeping (one could say he has a talent for it!), doing 'purin aerobics,' and hanging out with his best friends. He's a laidback dog who loves soft stuff and easily makes friends. He dreams of being even bigger. He perks up when he hears his owners say "Let's go out!" and he'd rather not hear "Stay!"

There is absolutely no clarification on the Sanrio wiki as to who or what "sister-owner" actually is, so I am imagining some kind of weird Targaryen sitch

Why the shit would you bet on the Spurs

They were already missing one of their top two players and the Warriors just cheapshotted the other one in the first game to bust his ankle.

That's like a soccer team losing all their top strikers before a shootout.
