Nekopara is a very painful visual novel, and you can look through my Steam history to see that my standards are very low indeed.
It's a good way to get a perfect game on your profile, because the achievements are just "press enter until it is out of story", and the art is pretty, but most of the world building stuff is just plain sketchy.

To be fair, the game is originally a hentai visual novel that had most of the adult content removed so it could be sold on Steam so it's not surprising that what's left isn't up to most people's standards.

Well I might as well uncensored the game for.......artistic perservation.....
So contemplating picking up Dishonered 2, Surge and Valdis
Few questions for those who have experience with any of these games:
Dishonored - Is this all Stealth? Is their a sense of character progression?
Surge - I understand game is fairly short for this genre, does it have replayability and is NG+ increasing in difficulty?
Valdis Story- This is that game I look at all the time and just never made the leap. So few more on this one
- Is it class based?
- What is approximate length?
- Does it have NG+ or a lot of post game content?
- Is their a wide variety in gear or is it pretty straight forward in terms on how you gear your character?
- Is loot random drops and is their different rarity associated with such gear?
I don't know about those other games, but lemme tell you about Valdis Story. I've clocked 200h on it and consider it one of the best games on Steam.
- Is it class based? Yes, in the same way that, say, Diablo II is. There are four playable characters, each with their own distinct movesets. You choose one of them for any given playthrough. The story is basically the same for each character, although one of them starts in a different area from the other three. Each character has a unique weapon set, spell set, and skill tree. You can build each character in a few different ways by focusing on different skill paths as you level up.
- What is approximate length? 200h. I kid. First time through, not going for 100% map/item/optional boss completion? Probably 10-12h.
- Does it have NG+ or a lot of post game content? Both, sort of. There's no NG+, but once you unlock a new weapon, that weapon will be available immediately when you start a new game. Each character has 5 weapons to collect. As for post game content, it's not explicitly postgame but once the final boss becomes available there's a shitload of optional stuff you can do instead, including several optional maps, optional regular bosses, and 3 optional uberbosses. There's also a separate boss rush mode. There are also several different difficulty levels.
- Is their a wide variety in gear or is it pretty straight forward in terms on how you gear your character? There's a pretty wide variety of gear but it's actually pretty straightforward. You'll probably find most or all of it your first time through. The complicated part is upgrading your gear and spells, which requires materials that come from chests or item drops. There's not enough materials to max everything out so you'll have to pick and choose, but don't worry about this too much because the game can be beaten on normal with totally un-upgraded gear.
- Is loot random drops and is their different rarity associated with such gear? Most of the loot is fixed and comes from chests.
Also there's a demo if you want to get an idea what the gameplay is like before you buy:
My only real issue with Valdis Story is that they have permanent stat increases tied to your performance on boss fights that you can't return to if you fuck up the rating. It's done in such a way as to be a waste for them to even be in the game because in order to earn them you have to perform at such a level that you wouldn't even need them anyway. It's pretty poorly thought out and kind of a middle finger. Besides that, the game is great and absolutely worth playing.
Dishonored is not all stealth, you can play the game as a gun toting sword swinging murder wizard if you want, however this can have ramifications in that the more trouble you cause the more the people you are fighting are ready for you.
Character progression is good, in terms of the abilities you can buy and use. At the start of the game I was very careful and methodical in my approaches because I didn't want to be seen and didn't really have the abilities to handles more than one person at a time.
By the end I would warp into a group of enemies, slow down time, shoot a dude in the face with my pistol, sword another dude, drop a mine on the floor and then warp out before they had time to react.
Character progression in terms of character development in the story? Not really a huge amount for the main character, no.

Next giveaway, Telltale's Tales From the Borderlands. It's the best work that Telltale has ever done (and I say that as a fan of everything of theirs I've played). If you're a Borderlands fan, you definitely this one!
Hello steam folks! I've come to keep you updated on how amazingly crazy generous you guys are! With the latest donation by @xiears we've hit a grand total of $2386! Thats crazy high amount and very close to hitting a huge amount of our stretch goals. $115 or so more and we'll have reached the "Meadow - Badger event" where @Berylline has promised to host a get together in the game Meadow! $250 after that is her Speedrun of Last Tinker. $250 after that hits 2 different goals, @Heenato's Xcom goal's 2nd part, and Pixie's Steam profile re-imagining. Watch Heenato as he descends into the madness of superhuman in Xcom and have a say in just how funky we can make Pixie's steam profile!
Remember guys, EVERY donation is amazing. Donations of $1-$5 are just as welcome and generous as any other donation. Never feel bad or unappreciated for whatever you can spare. Every single donation helps us help children in hospitals. Every single one is just as important and amazing as every other donation. If you feel nervous or anxious about it, you can always message me through the boards and i'll keep your donation anonymous.
Now, about the fun part! I mentioned at the start about our "Creative Challenge" and how it will focus on themes. A quick recap: Donating $5 or more allows you to enter the creative challenge, a challenge to show us your creative side. Make art using video games and video game themes! Make a mural in a building game, design a themed costume, make a scene in any game.. heck even draw pictures or anything about a video game and the themes. Send your creative works to me on the boards before the 16th of July, they'll be sent out to be anonymously judged and then the winner gets announced!
Some of the judges will be judging stuff based on criteria like.. best use of themes, most themes incorporated, funniest, etc. Each judge will also be able to use their own judgement for the entries, so no matter how good or bad you think your entry may be it can impress a judge!
Here are some of the themes to use, there will be more listed a few days before the end of the steam sale, so you can incorporate more before the entry phase is over.
Themes: Heroic, Despair, Hoarding, Childhood Favorites, Egypt, Geese, Hip Hop, Steam, Gaben, Patriotism, Space, Grim Reaper, Forestry, Disney, Color Pink, Clowns, Steampunk, Royalty, Harry Potter, Friends (or F*R*I*E*N*D*S I guess), Extreme Weather, Dinosaurs, Driving, Shoes, and CRIMES!
You don't have to use every theme, you don't even have to use any theme, you could just do an artistic screenshot or whatever you'd like to enter. It might be harder to win without embracing a lot of the themes, but this is ya'lls creative take on the video games we all enjoy, so hit me with your best shot(s) and lets see what you guys have!
(If you've donated more than $5 and haven't notified me that you're interested in the challenge, hit me up with a message and i'll put you in the runnings!)
Thank you SO MUCH to everyone who has donated to the drive so far, and everyone who just took the time to read this. You're all amazing and awesome.

Thanks so much for Dungeon Rats, @Zetx! I remember when Icewind Dale came out, and it was very much a post-Baldur's Gate, light story, take your party through a dungeon adventure. I loved BG, but ID was a nice change of pace. Dungeon Rats has that feel to it. Saving the galaxy is for other people who aren't trapped in a dungeon and need to fight, loot and level-up their way the hell out of there!
I've been spamming a few people for card trades because i like completing the badge at least once. Unfortunately i don't know how to see who accepted or not so i'm just going to say thank you to whomever did.
THANK YOU!
Valdis Story seems to come from the philosophy of indie game design that indie games are for hardcore gamers and therefore should be obtuse and difficult to some degree. It's a credit to how good the game generally is that I put up with that and went back to it.

How many entries can we send in?
As many as you'd like, they'll all be judged individually though. You don't accrue points or anything for more, just the best one overall will win! Maybe you can take 1st 2nd and 3rd place if you enter 3 good ones though!

Much appreciated!

Valdis Story seems to come from the philosophy of indie game design that indie games are for hardcore gamers and therefore should be obtuse and difficult to some degree. It's a credit to how good the game generally is that I put up with that and went back to it.

In case you are curious, you can go Item Inventory -> Trade Offers -> Trade History. I'd give you a specific link, but it is tied to your user: http://steamcommunity.com/id/ <steamid> /inventoryhistory/
Shenanigans!
Thanks @Dashui and @Zavian for your complete inability to control your monstrous urges. Jerks.
Besides "the heist mission(s) from GTAV" that I've heard so much about, what are some good heist/getaway type games on Steam?
