Hello steam folks! I've come to keep you updated on how amazingly crazy generous you guys are! With the latest donation by @xiears we've hit a grand total of $2386! Thats crazy high amount and very close to hitting a huge amount of our stretch goals. $115 or so more and we'll have reached the "Meadow - Badger event" where @Berylline has promised to host a get together in the game Meadow! $250 after that is her Speedrun of Last Tinker. $250 after that hits 2 different goals, @Heenato's Xcom goal's 2nd part, and Pixie's Steam profile re-imagining. Watch Heenato as he descends into the madness of superhuman in Xcom and have a say in just how funky we can make Pixie's steam profile!
Remember guys, EVERY donation is amazing. Donations of $1-$5 are just as welcome and generous as any other donation. Never feel bad or unappreciated for whatever you can spare. Every single donation helps us help children in hospitals. Every single one is just as important and amazing as every other donation. If you feel nervous or anxious about it, you can always message me through the boards and i'll keep your donation anonymous.
Now, about the fun part! I mentioned at the start about our "Creative Challenge" and how it will focus on themes. A quick recap: Donating $5 or more allows you to enter the creative challenge, a challenge to show us your creative side. Make art using video games and video game themes! Make a mural in a building game, design a themed costume, make a scene in any game.. heck even draw pictures or anything about a video game and the themes. Send your creative works to me on the boards before the 16th of July, they'll be sent out to be anonymously judged and then the winner gets announced!
Some of the judges will be judging stuff based on criteria like.. best use of themes, most themes incorporated, funniest, etc. Each judge will also be able to use their own judgement for the entries, so no matter how good or bad you think your entry may be it can impress a judge!
Here are some of the themes to use, there will be more listed a few days before the end of the steam sale, so you can incorporate more before the entry phase is over.
Themes: Heroic, Despair, Hoarding, Childhood Favorites, Egypt, Geese, Hip Hop, Steam, Gaben, Patriotism, Space, Grim Reaper, Forestry, Disney, Color Pink, Clowns, Steampunk, Royalty, Harry Potter, Friends (or F*R*I*E*N*D*S I guess), Extreme Weather, Dinosaurs, Driving, Shoes, and CRIMES!
You don't have to use every theme, you don't even have to use any theme, you could just do an artistic screenshot or whatever you'd like to enter. It might be harder to win without embracing a lot of the themes, but this is ya'lls creative take on the video games we all enjoy, so hit me with your best shot(s) and lets see what you guys have!
(If you've donated more than $5 and haven't notified me that you're interested in the challenge, hit me up with a message and i'll put you in the runnings!)
Thank you SO MUCH to everyone who has donated to the drive so far, and everyone who just took the time to read this. You're all amazing and awesome.
Besides "the heist mission(s) from GTAV" that I've heard so much about, what are some good heist/getaway type games on Steam?
Monaco
Thief
Edit: Also, go rewatch the Ocean's Eleven remake. One of my favorite movies.
So the local theater I saw Baby Driver at tonight actually got Edgar Wright to curate a month of heist movies to be shown, and modern Ocean's 11 is one of them, along with a bunch of other movies I want to see. Of course, seeing them all would leave me destitute.
edit: To make this post about games, I know Payday is less about a heist and is moreso a shooting game set in a bank robbery. You are given a chance to rudimentarily case the joint beforehand, but you always end up shooting your way out.

Yeah I've tried unplugging the old keyboard in the past but I'd still occasionally get the problem. I think it might be because I spilled a drink on it in the past.
Can't tell if my hand shaking is due to too much caffeine or too little Brigador over the past few days

@Zilla360 or anyone else who's played Chantelise; Looking at the Steam store page, it reminds me of Threads of Fate (aka Dewprism in Japan), by Square(-Enix), a semi-obscure Playstation 1 game that's very near and dear to my heart. I believe Square's Musashi games had a lot of the same staff as ToF, but they never scratched the itch for a sequel. Would this be a good substitute?
There I was writing when I suddenly noticed there was a different flashing window from Steam that was not chat and realized @Antoshka had sent a gift. Thank you very much for Wonderboy: The Dragon's Trap!

It has a similar style of gameplay, but it has a few noteworthy differences. For one thing the camera is locked onto the rear of the main character rather than a more angled view like Threads of Fate. This in itself wouldn't be a problem were it not for the fact that all of the artwork is flat sprites. This gives some depth perception issues in combat that can make things tougher than they need to be, and this game is already fairly unforgiving in itself.
It will definitely do the job at $2.50 though, it's worth a pick up if you liked that old PS1 style of game. Just save often because it will aggravate you.

I may have to retire strike suit zero as the second to last mission is creeping at single digit frames and requires accuracy.
Also, I could beat it in a day were it not for tech slowdowns.
(A) I understand and agree (B) it requires super accuracy; the timer is not kind to you, and you need to finish the mission and then get out, one way or another.
There's basically 10 seconds worth of room for error, if I remember right?

Chat decided that Tuesday is a day for gifting. And despite it being Wednesday at the time @Spoit still went for me. Thank you. This game has a pretty interesting concept from what I have seen. Curious how it uses it to tell a story.
I thought I got away with getting gifted yesterday, turns out it was a really long day at the start of which I was gifted 4 amazing games
On another awesome note,I wanted to reiterate how amazing Wolfenstein : TNO is. I gave up on it previously as that opening just felt generic but it takes a turn. So glad I listened to people in here about giving it a second go and dropping the difficulty down if needed.
Yeah, from what I've played, it does look pretty neat.... But I think I'm going to have to shelve it until the next upgrade
It runs fine for the first 10-15 minutes, but then the framerate takes a pretty bad hit. And is basically unplayable by the half hour mark. Nice of the fixes I googled really helped
What are your resources doing during this time? RAM use, CPU%, GPU%, VRAM use?
I didn't have the monitor tracking everything concurrently, but when I opened task manager, to see if there was a memory leak, i was only using like 40% of my system ram
I'd keep an eye on everything next time. Is it running on an SSD?
Yeah, HWMonitor doesn't have a graph, but just eyeballing it on the other monitor when the performance goes to pot, CPU utilization was almost always in the 60%s, and GPU utilization was all over the place, but frequently in single digits(!!!). Which is probably the problem, huh? I'm not sure how to fix it, the only stuff I can find on google is "get a new CPU olol", which, it's not really using the CPU that hard either!
FAKE EDIT: OK, tried again with MSI afterburner. it's still all over the place, but I guess it's not quite as low as I thought. It's still laging the hell out when it goes to 0 util though:

Was going to say have you tried unplugging it instead of rebooting, but a new one was probably in the cards regardless.
Glad you 'fixed' it. :P

Tenacious D has forever ruined the title for that series...
...or made it better?
Noticed this hadn't been snagged yet. Botanicula is super-awesome and someone should grab it!
