Even with ps4 exclusives i still really want to go PC
I think i could live with missing out on one strike, one pvp map and one gun.....
Ive still not fully decided though
Don't you dare leave me.
Also I played Destiny 2 at E3 and did the strike they have been showing.
It felt good fam.
WHAT CLASS DID YOU PLAY? HOW WERE THE GUNS? BLEED FOR ME!!!!
Hunter, baby.
The purple pulse rifle was alright, but the exotic hand cannon I used was noice. The grenade launcher was fun too. Details are hazy because I played on Tuesday, but I remember feeling badass with my golden gun shooting more than four times.
Mass effect had an insane amount of text in the game, it's totally doable.
And regardless of game mode, if your team gets roflstomped in kd you don't like it and if you're stomping it's fun as shit.
It is certainly doable but knowing what we do about Bungies design philosophy I'm confident they aren't going to be dumping reams of text into the game. It's going to be very streamlined
The reality of game development is that a TON of ideas and concepts are created during development that get dumped or discarded through scope changes, changes in focus or direction, people leaving and systems needing to be inherited. Games get reset. Things get restarted. Its not uncommon at all.
The thing thats abnormal is that they apparently had to do it so close to their launch such that you can still see the major scars and narrative seams where things have been stitched back together. The Darkness and the Stranger were clearly victims of that. It may have been that at some point they knew what the Darkness was but with the reshuffle, the old explanation no longer made any sense. So I don't think its that they never had anything with the Darkness solved and they were just flying by the seat of their pants the whole time... but that the huge narrative reshuffle poked over several of the bottom layers of a massive house of cards and suddenly some of the roof tops had nothing to support em.
OK, I will allow for the idea that "at some point in time, someone knew what the Darkness was supposed to be." But when they shuttled everything, they never came up with a replacement, clearly. And they still don't have one. So they may as well have never had a plan in the first place, really. What matters is that their canon is incomplete. It's just a bummer is all. Like I said, I'm not mad; I'm disappointed.
I still think that The Books of Sorrow is some of the best fiction I've ever read "in" a video game. I think the ideas behind some of the content is astoundingly cool. That they couldn't figure out a way to handle the Darkness, and that they may just abandon the Stranger is ... it's kind of unforgivable. Closure would be welcome. Don't even worry about it threading the story to come, but don't just drop it.
Luke Smith said in that interview they have a narrative reason for The Darkness now and that it WOULD return, just that it won't be a part of the plot for vanilla D2.
It's just at the bottom of the interview so no one got to that part before raging on reddit.
9 times out of 10, I'll read the source myself before commenting. My daughter is feeling off so I didn't this time. That's what I get!
I feel the Exo-Stranger comment was a little tone deaf (as there is tons of questions in the background of her story, who called her, where/when is she from etc) but it could be referring to that particular arc (the come, give exposition, leave arc) as opposed to all of the questions we have surrounding her. With that being said the comments about Destiny being issue "zero" reads to me more in the line of the initial game introduced a bunch of themes and plot threads and now in subsequent games we will be following some of those. Some more than others depending on the game/dlc, but that most of them would continue in some form. In this particular game we are getting the Cabal, the least fleshed out enemy concept from the original, and probably a bit of some other threads through DLC. I fully expect it to alternate focus from here on out for the life of the franchise.

Having a sick match and shredding folks feels pretty good even if most of them were easy prey. It's a nice little dopamine drip. Unless you're the #1 baddest mother fucker on the planet, matches like that aren't going to be a constant. So it really doesn't get a chance to get super boring. Especially considering there isn't a list of dedicated servers to pick from and hang around the ones with bad players like you could do with some older games.
Though, always having sweaty and tough matches are nice for improving and learning. But! That shit is stressful and gets tiring real quick. Your body is no shit producing cortisol and sometimes even pumping adrenaline. Wears you out and stops being fun if that's all you're seeing.
I guess what I'm saying is, in my opinion, is that you don't need to just win once in a while. You need to win well in order to reset that stress.
I'm pretty sure this theory about the Exo Stranger (she's Elsie Bray, uploaded into an Exo, working with the FWC) is correct. If so, this may be why Luke Smith thinks they wrapped it up well? Even though this theory isn't widely known and isn't officially confirmed.

A huge criticism was most of the interesting story/lore bits being stuck in these cards, and so with the sequel they're apparently moving the lore to be organically learned through the game, and now they're getting shit for that too?

Read the thread. Not even the whole thing. Just the last few pages.
Did they legit confirm there is no Grimoire/Codex/way to read a bunch of lore either in-game or on the web/app in D2? While I read the stuff that said "we don't want the old style of Grimoire, we want this lore in game" I wasn't sure it was fully confirmed they just killed their primary lore delivery mechanism and didn't replace it with an in-game version.
Because yeah then we're going to get significantly less lore and worldbuilding and that makes me sad.
Been reading through the last 10 pages of thread (because I haven't been online much lately)...
At this point I'm not worrying about plot and lore until I see what they deliver... I won't be surprised if they flat out scrap a lot of the Vanilla storyline stuff (exo stranger, etc). It's so disjointed that it's almost too little foundation to build off of.
If they were smart they'd use some of the grimoire content to flesh out new storylines. The stories from the grimoire (Dredgen Yor, et al) are so rich already, I can't imagine they wouldn't use SOME of it as a basis for plot development.

About how long does WotM normally take to complete? @skyknyt has a game listed for 11am ps4 side and I got to work at 2pm and I don't wanna pull a join and bail if it'll end up taking too long. (I live like, two minutes from work so I basically have the full three hours)

I think three hours will probably be enough.

Depending on team coordination, Aksis Challenge mode could be 3 hours all by itself

I recently got my PC back up and running after months of attempting to fix a difficult to diagnose hardware issue.
Having it up and running (hopefully for good) I played some DOOM, having bought it ages ago, and the lack of rumble felt really weird. I've gotten so used to playing shooters with a ps4 controller it just didn't feel right with a mouse/keyboard. There wasn't enough feedback when I took damage.

The only raid I've actually been able to run was original release King's Fall. That's the only raid knowledge that I really have and that took about two and a half hours to run if I recall correctly so I just wanna make sure. :P
Didn't early concept art have Destiny in a high fantasy setting?
E: also @Wassermelone: PC. Joiiiiin meeee. Damnit Bunj I'm also going to be buying your damn game twice aren't I
Totally jumping on the "no one asked you wagon" but since I have blizzard balance I'll be getting me the PC version too. The bad news is that most likely my pc at home can't handle it.

Apologies Erik, I don't think we have the folks to run the raid this morning. It looks like there's another raid later on today you can try with though.

It's cool.
EDIT: Both raids for today collapsed so I posted a raid for tomorrow at 3PM if anyone wants PS4 side.
I fucked up and realised I've been in the wrong 100 group which explains why I never see any of the games going on T_T
Who do I poke here for the proper group approval?
I got you covered.
Also, about your PC not being able to handle it. Since you pre-ordered, you can test it out in August with the beta and you'll have a good idea of what to expect and if you need to upgrade or not.

Trials is bad but I want the loots, it's the only stuff I don't have!
Although @ElementWrath tonight would be good for PoE also...
no, Luar is on ps4. I think this is one of the few onlys place where the majority of Destiny players are on the Xbox vs the PS4 :P
Faced a carry with rank #70 and #246 in Trials respectively on Xbone.

At least we didnt do too bad against them, we lost 3-5 I think? I even had positive K/D ratio at the end of it... By a hair.
