That some abilities that look like they should avoid AOE actually don't and still get hit.
For example Murderin's jump and Lunara's leap ult... if there is an AOE that would have hit them while they're in mid-air, it still hits them. This has happened multiple times with Diablo's apocalypse where I jump up with either and still get hit by the stun and it just immediately drags me to the ground as long as it goes off under my character even though I'm 20' up in the air.
Pure bs.

I mean, Abathur mines will hit a flying Falstad. So yeah, it's pretty inconsitent. :P

You aren't immune while flying through the air. You are still there and able to be hit by basically everything.
Unstoppable was actually removed from a ton of them, like Mura's jump, because it made him brutally overpowered and is one of the main reasons he was the dominant tank at pro-level for like over a year.
I hit the big 1200 today. Got an Epic Summer chest. It contained nothing from the event even with like 2 rerolls. I finally grabbed it when it gave me nothing but duplicates and so threw like 130 shards at me and I was like "Whatever, fucking fine".
Hilariously though, a few days back I finally met someone even more insane then me:

It doesn't have to be unstoppable but it's just silly and REALLY silly looking when you see someone high up in the air immediately get dragged down to the floor because something "hit" it
I guess all they did was remove the collision detection with both characters and terrain during those kinds of moves but ability triggers still work.
I've been looking over my roster and realize I don't play a lot of assassins outside of Nova and Raynor. Sure, Jimmy is OK for HL, but Nova is right out. Give me some suggestions for a new assassin or two to play.
Of course the bigger reason is nobody seems to want to tank or heal and Nazeebo is so damn good on a lot of the macro maps.

I've been playing Samuro a bit lately. He's pretty fun, and has pretty good sustain. If the enemy team has no vision, they just have to guess which of your 2 copies is actually you.

The most worthwhile ones are probably
Falstad, Valla, Greymane, Lunara, Genji and Malthael with honourary mentions going to Chromie and Cassia since both have actual uses, but are harder and more niche than the other six.
Zeratul is also great, but he's probably the hardest of these characters to play well as you advance (because he'll wind up with new hurdles for you to overcome if you climb ranks).
There are a lot of heroes who warp the nature of the draft when they show up. Nova can be one of them.
It depends on what level you're playing at, too. If you are a good Nova player, you can climb just fine as a Nova main. But if you are maybe not that great, you are making a really suboptimal pick in a drafted mode where she can be hard countered pretty easily.
The fact that there exists at least one Nova one-trick in GM is proof enough that it's viable to play her in HL, especially at lower levels where you won't get punished for bad positioning or they don't know how to counter her in draft. The question is whether or not you think you have the skill to do so, and whether you want to deal with the inevitable scapegoating (both fair and unfair) when you pick her.
This extends even outside of HL. I ran into a Cho'gall in Unranked Draft that had a similar dynamic. A duo showed Cho'gall as the 3rd and 4th picks in our second rotation. Nobody complained, but it forced our draft to accommodate that pick (e.g., Auriel). The Cho'gall player ended up being complete trash. Like, YOLO suicide into the other team, die 10 times trash. At that point, you're just ruining the game for people. If you can't play the hero well or don't have any practice, at least try it out in QM before doing shit like forcing other people to build around your pick. Otherwise it is a waste of 20 minutes of everyone else's time, because you have no chance of winning given your MMR is based on the aggregate of heroes you play, including the ones you are actually good with.

Echoing others here, but seriously, learn Greymane.
He is showing up much less than he should in our inhouses and it's tilting me a little.

Hilariously though, a few days back I finally met someone even more insane then me:
If you can't spot it:
top right
Someone on my friends list is over 2,000 now. I can't fathom that insanity. I feel like I've spent way too much time playing HotS and I'm still a few levels shy of 800 (with only one hero still ripe for easy levels -- Malthael).
Bunch of good suggestions, will add that genji fulfills the same function of punishing a backline, then getting out, but trades a little better against tanks once you get shingen, is more mana efficient and defensive skills that are more then opponents who can't see shimmer
Ragnaros is someone that's surprisingly fun to play, despite how little nuance there is in his kit. His passive can win games when used well and I can't think of another ability that is as satisfying to land as Sulfuras Smash. Not sure he's the type of assassin to full on solo carry a game but when played well he can be massive pain to deal with and can, if anything, drag games out long enough for a team to get late and win off one good fight.

Wow, thanks for all the suggestions. I've played almost all the suggestions at some point, except Genji/Malth/Cass whom I don't own, and felt comfortable with Valla, Greymane, Chromie, and Lunara. I'm guessing that I should invest more time in them now since I'm a better player now than I was when I tried them out originally. Maybe push each to level 10. That should be enough of an investment to know if they click.
I was thinking about dive characters like Zeratul or Illidan. Each have niche uses and high skill ceilings, but devastating when used properly.

This is the most glorious thing I've seen this week, and I've seen some shit this week (was in FL).
731 is probably qing the dummy in practice a jillion times with rite. i think that caps at like 480 extra %.
if you even get near 200% you start instantly killing squishies, 731 wouldn't be possible to get in game because you could laser tanks to death in one shot almost
It's almost certainly someone testing how high right of rakshir can go in testing. I read that rite has two caps. One from kills and one from landing discord strike hits.
But yeah, approach 200% sadism and either of your ults are just devastating.

It's consistent though, which is it's own kind of intuitive.
love playing games at diamond and people just lose the game single handed. tychus refuses to go in bottom lane ever, and when he does, he just forces melee trades with thrall that he obviously loses, gets away at 1 hp, walked to well, didn't have well, then walked back out to try and fight more. obviously dies. over and over.
wow thanks game i can't support anyone through that trash. so tired of being forced into support. I've played more games on support in draft modes this season than all other character types put together.

Speaking of "in the air" and "on the ground" and consistency
Some skillshots count as being "in the air" or "on the ground".
And largely this relates to things like, popping Abathur mines or clearing Zagara creep.
And it's kiiiiinda unclear what skillshots can actually clear mines/creep or not. Like you end up finding out by doing, but there's no hard and fast rule about this.
For example: Genji's Shurikens work. Falstad's Hammerang works. Jaina's Frostbolt does not work. Li-Ming's Magic Missiles and Arcane Orb* do not work.
It's a bit weird.
*Arcane Orb does actually work if the explosion hits nearby minions or something else. But the Orb itself will not hit them.
fuuuuuuucking christ we almost lost a game on towers of doom we were up 28-4 on. jesus.

Weasel and SIG and I had some awful TL games the other night, good God. One game with the most useless Falstad I have ever seen and another with the most toxic Diablo outside of hell itself.
Humor can be dissected as a frog can, but dies in the process.
Played some Illidan tonight and got wrecked. Dive and die is no fun. I'm guessing this would be easier in a HL setting where drafted tanks and healers would help out.
On the other hand, Samuro was pretty fun. Messed around with him for two games and ran positive K/D results, even though I had no idea what I was doing during the first game.
