Ron Jeremy wasn't always old and fat, apparently, Coucous.
He was mostly known for his monster dong, he's always been kind of sketchy looking. Though I did see an episode of Hoarders where he legitimately wanted to help a friend of his get over her addiction, so whatever porn he's been in and however gross it is, he at least personally isn't a bad guy.
oh sure, there's plenty of guys in porn who look sketchy. Even today, you occasionally see a guy who looks like he should be manning the fryer at a Wendys.
You say this like there's anything holding people back from being in porn these days other than a decent camera phone and no shame/consenting partner. The partner bit is the toughest, but if you guys wanna go hang out in Chatsworth I'm sure you'll get thrown a bone eventually...
IUD's are civilization, btw. I am kinda horrified at the idea of calling them "the coil". I also don't really understand why it's consider sexist for women to be responsible for their birth control, especially in non-monogamous relationships. I've also been lead to believe most forms of FDA approved birth control in the States have health benefits as side effects for many women.
I don't watch amateur pornos. To be a professional male "talent" is not an easy thing.

Most people don't think of bad amateur video when they think of porn or the actors therein.

This is highly dependent on the person. Hormones have a wide range of affects on people.
In reality both sides should have responsibility for birth and STI control in situations. The fact we currently do not have the male equivalent of an IUD or bc pills doesn't mean they just abdicate responsibility to a female partner. Also there are tons of things in there when you think about it deeply with the idea of women doing stuff for the men that can get creepy and all patriarchy really quickly.

I recall a few years back reading a personal experience write up from a couple who had tried to break into porn, or someone who worked in porn talking about people trying to break into porn, saying that it really isn't as easy as it seems to do it an get paid. At least for men. At the time apparently it was common enough for couples to try to break in by doing those "amateur" shoots and the anecdote the author gave was that a couple came in, the male half of the couple couldn't perform (because porn is actually demanding work) and got sidelined by an actor who was brought on set to work with his girlfriend or wife. And men tend to make a fraction of what women make IIRC.

Minorities being disproportionately affected by gun legislation is one of those oddities where, as a liberal, on the one hand that is obviously bad. We can't have legislation disproportionately affect minorities, plainly.
And yet, it is also poor black communities that are most desperately in need of gun bans. Black people are 17% of the US population but about 50% of the homicide victims. And most of that is driven by a few urban areas, mostly from handguns.
A handgun ban in Baltimore city would be racially disproportionate in its impact. It could also save hundreds of lives a year in one city. So which is more important, the principle or helping to save lives that are usually treated as acceptable losses? I don't think there's a simple answer there.
The Chicago handgun ban did a whole lot of nothing. They'd just straw purchase in neighboring states or acquire them completely illegally. The only thing that's even remotely stemmed the violence on the south side is increased police presence.
Chicago and NY are interesting contrasts
NY aggressively pursues gun possession crimes, and it's that more than anything that's credited with giving NY a remarkably low violent crime rate.
Chicago on the other hand could never really gain any traction in their attempts to control handguns. I haven't read as much about it so I'm not sure about what their points of failure were, although part of it was just that it was super easy to go out of town and still buy lots of guns.
Isn't Stop and Frisk usually credited for this in NYC?
well, stop and frisk was part of a larger policy focusing on illegal gun possession, and arguably not the biggest part of it.
There's still a lot of debate over whether S&F ended up helping or not, or more importantly whether it was worth the understandable resentment that it caused in minority communities.
Crime rates have remained low even with the end of S&F, so it would be natural to say no, but it may have been necessary to create that drop in the first place. Or maybe not! There's no consensus afaik. But pro-active pursuit of illegal gun ownership and illegal gun smuggling does tend to have a strong track record of success, when executed well.

It makes me really happy to hear that you do regular rock climbing at a local gym because there's a climbing gym 15-20 min from me and I just have not put in the effort to go regularly, despite really enjoying the activity. Its a real sad point that I just cannot get myself to go.
Some of it is work related (don't get home until post 7pm) but I really should get over it.

Tcheldor for some reason I keep thinking you're australian instead of like
But also that is a weird anecdote and it seems weird to sign up for that sort of thing if you're a couple trying to break in
It seems like one of those things people do because they don't know better.
I imagine the thought process is "We like to have sex! Why don't we get paid to do it on camera!" but they don't actually know the work that goes into a porn shoot. Mostly because it's hidden by the process but also because it seems counter intuitive. Having sex is easy, why wouldn't doing it while being filmed also be easy? I don't think most people realize that a lot of the things that end up on film/video are done solely for the sake of capturing it on video and aren't how real people usually have sex.

I mean STI's prevention and birth control aren't really the same for me riskwise/consideration wise, but I understand the point being made. I just agree with the first wave feminist view that birth control being a choice women make for themselves is empowering and a good thing, and goes against patriarchy. I wouldn't say it's solely the responsibility of the woman, but I think women thinking about their birth control options is a good thing for their agency. I think a valid birth control option for a woman is also, "All my lovers gotta wear rubbers/dental dams."
As far as health benefits, all medications are dependent on the physiology/mentality and lifestyle of those that take them, but in the wide range of pharmacology treatments that we have, I'd say birth control side effects are very minor, and there health benefits are so great that you often hear of women being prescribed birth control for the side effects while not even being sexually active.

Well yeah, I meant more the idea of wanting to break into porn as a couple so
1) going to a company (instead of like, producing amateur stuff first etc) and
2) if you're doing it as a couple, agreeing to stuff that can get one of you sidelined and the other making porn with strangers
I mean perhaps that was not a big deal for them, it just seems like... not a thing I'd ever sign on for, I guess.
