So basically that guy with some programming skills.
When they announced this thing I'm pretty sure they said it would be a limited-run item.
As a 100% legit business and PR expert (TM), I almost think it would be better for everyone's health if they didn't make any more limited-run items. I heard that Switch thing is doing pretty well, they should put more money in it.

“People have realized that our bot puts them ahead of the competition,” one of the Tai Ding bot creators, who asked to remain anonymous and acts as a representative for the team, told Polygon. “We have a 93 percent success rate. Basically our bot is able to "Automatically Cart" and checkout an NES [or SNES] without the presence of a person monitoring the computer.”
I'd like Nintendo to do a pre-sell system through their own website that guarantees a pre-order at the retailer of your choice. Like you go to Nintendo.com, log in, select the item you want to pre-order (SNES, NES, 3DS variation, etc), choose the store you'd like to buy it from, and then pay the full value of the item. When complete, you get a non-refundable voucher code (w/emailed details) that you use on your store's website as a promo payment code.
If the system was in place, they could gauge a far greater idea of how many systems to make and send to select retailers, on top of the normal supply they'd send out. It takes scalpers out of the loop by getting the item from the source and still allows retailers to get paid and hold product. At the very least, it would allow the true nutjobs like us that want one the opportunity to get one.

Its not rare though. Yeah apple doesnt put it in their stuff but apple is anti consumer.
Pretty sure it is. Google's phones don't have them, iPhones which are a huge portion of the market don't have them. Looks like Samsung's do, so that's a good chunk. But it's definitely not a feature I'd call common. I have never had a smartphone with an SD card slot.
But hey, I'll just stick with physical. If something is a download only too big for the internal memory, I won't be buying that on Switch.
I've never had a phone without an SD card slot. You can imagine if you're an Android phone user why you could say that it's not rare that you can buy an SD card to upgrade the storage.
But, I am an android phone user.
It's been not a thing in my phones.
Some lines have it, sure. But I would absolutely not call it a common feature and it's absolutely one that's going away. Could be wrong of course, but I can't find anything discussing the overall prevalence of them.
Regardless of phones, it's not something I really find acceptable on the switch in lieu of reasonable built in storage space. I don't want to spend more money so I can then have more space to spend more money. Sounds like it's not an issue if FFXV gets cut into downloadable episodes though.
Although I didn't think FFXV was particularly great anyway, so I'm surprised to see it get so many companion pieces and ports to other places. I guess because they worked on it so long they gotta get as much out of it as they can?
Will be interesting to see how they handle inflating game sizes in as we go forward.
edit: Cameras are the only thing I know people regularly still buy SD cards for.
I don't know how you'd have a phone without SD storage at this point. I guess never play games on it? Delete and redownload basic apps all the time? I have three games that take up more than a Gig each that all receive constant updates to add up their file size. See also, the relatively large footprint of Facebook, Snapchat, Facebook Messenger, etc. If they grew the storage OF the phone, sure, but they don't. At all.
And the same goes for consoles and handhelds. I've expanded the storage of every gaming device I've ever had. My Xbox One has a 2TB hard drive sitting behind it. My 3DS has a... 64 gig card in it at this point I think?
I doubt the Switch version of Final Fantasy XV will need more than the built-in 30 GB. In fact, here's a prediction. The Switch will get a port with the graphical style of the mobile version and the gameplay of the PS4/Xbone version. It would side step a ton of storage and resource requirements. Square-Enix would also get to reuse loads of assets across multiple products.
If the Switch was just getting the mobile version, it would have just been listed at the end of the trailer with all the other target platforms, right?

Or just make 10 million of them. They're practically just a USB drive with an SNES case.
e: I thought I was in the plug n' play thread. oops
On the handheld screen, the title looked like it was rendering at native 720p, and while graphics comparisons aren't really viable on the showfloor - especially on mobile screens - the Switch version of Skyrim delivered an accomplished mobile experience. It's the consistency in performance that's really impressive, especially compared to the last-gen versions of the game. The wobbly frame-rates with hitching and stuttering during traversal and combat simply aren't an issue on Switch: that 30 frames per second is as close to locked as you're going to get.
We've tried playing the game on an Intel Atom-based tablet with integrated graphics and the experience is nothing like as good as this - if you're looking to play a fully portable Skyrim, you're looking at a larger gaming laptop to offer the visual feature set and performance the Switch version is offering.
Please keep the SNES Classic rants in other thread, I believe there's one dedicated to it. It is so tiring to read that page after page after page.
Autumn with Switch is looking great. Lots of good looking games coming, FIFA looks wonderful, same to Skyrim. I really hoep that 3rd parties find success with their titles, they seem to be putting at least some resources in. Some might be ports of older games, but I don't care. They are coming, they seem to work well. That's all I need.
Oh, by the way, that Pocket Final Fantasy looks SO SO SO MUCH better than the "real" version. It looks fun, instead of some kind of weird boy band love fest. I would welcome it with open arms. Even though I've never liked Final Fantasy much, such a dreadful series for me.
And bunch of neat indies coming too, some are exclusive to Switch even!

I think it depends on the ecosystem you live in. I've had an iPhone since the 4 came out. I've obviously never bought an SD card to expand the storage because they don't have SD card slots. That said, I've never felt the need to buy one, either, and I play plenty of games on it. I have a while page currently dedicated to installed games.

Oh man, Rocket League on Switch seems like a fun idea.
I haven't spent any money on it yet, so this seems like as good a time as any without a guarantee that everyone playing will be significantly better than me.

I know I'm not much of a sample size, but I've never played Skyrim, despite having access to it via 4 different platforms. I was gonna check it out on Switch just to have another "big" game on the platform.
Portability can be a game changer. I played Donkey Kong Country Returns on Wii but didn't get into it seriously and beat it until I had it on 3DS.
To this day there's still a wow-factor for me, thinking "oh my god I have a game like this in the palm of my hand." I've played Morrowind a ton but I still wanted a port of it to 3DS for the same reason.
Man, I own Skyrim on my PS3, but I never even started it.
I'm torn between "portability would make it so much easier to get into" and "would that be enough to get me into a game I never even booted up?"
It depends on why you never booted it up. Was it because you heard all the reviews that it became unplayable after a few hours, unique to PS3? Was it because there was so much else to play at the time? Is there more of a lull now that might get you into it?

goddammit
They didn't specifically lay it out. They said there would be significantly more SNES Classics produced than NES Classics, and that they had nothing to announce at this time regarding shipments beyond this year. And people also kept saying it would be limited just based on precedent, leading a lot to believe that Nintendo had actually said so.
I'm not saying it isn't a safe bet, I just didn't remember them ever actually saying so.
But yeah it's obviously not going to have a long life.
