Don't like pop? Try out some unusual sounds! Here's some music for glitched-out cyborg ninjas walking in slow motion through an exploding kaleidoscope... in summer time.

Hard Times by Paramore has gotten a lot of play in my car. Pretty much that whole album.
"A new take on the epic fantasy genre... Darkly comic, relatable characters... twisted storyline."
"Readers who prefer tension and romance, Maledictions: The Offering, delivers... As serious YA fiction, I’ll give it five stars out of five. As a novel? Four and a half." - Liz Ellor My new novel: Maledictions: The Offering. Now in Paperback!

The new Hanson is awesome - but admittedly they've become one of my favorite bands in recent years. Their last two albums, especially the horn heavy Shout it Out, were really great.
You don't really need a great reason. She just isn't that great. It's all fine.

Lorde is a crazy-talented musician who happened to be extremely teenaged when she broke through, and is still very young
I think her stuff is very interesting and exciting musically, but it's still very my-first-romance-y lyrically, so it doesn't stick with me the way other pop does
Let her get some Fleetwood Mac-y complicated-ass romantic mess under her belt, and then we'll talk
I read kind of a weird review of the new Haim that basically said they've grown musically but it's still a worse album because it doesn't have any social commentary and he doesn't understand how an album in 2017 can just ignore what happened
And I'm like dog that is not what I want my album of the summer to do, thanks very much

I read how one of the big influences on this album was some advice they got from Stevie Nicks. She said they should keep journals where they write about their day on the right side of the page and write poetry about it on the left.
Which is exactly the inspiration I want for Haim. I want breezy romance pop, not three-part harmony on the words "garbage fire" or "piss tape"
I am listening to a frankly embarrassing amount of kpop
There's just something very soothing about music in a language you can't understand though
A trap is for fish: when you've got the fish, you can forget the trap. A snare is for rabbits: when you've got the rabbit, you can forget the snare. Words are for meaning: when you've got the meaning, you can forget the words.

That might be good for me at work. I tend to listen to the kid from Terrace House's Ukulele/Guitar albums because I don't really need to focus on it but foreign language stuff might be fun. Any recommendations?

There's gonna be a new Kesha song out tomorrow, in what I have to assume is the universe's idea of giving me an early birthday present
Ocean, tears and heartbreak soup
Half alive in a whitecap foam
Half in love with a white half moon
Get out!
My new anthem goddamn I've listened to this song like a thousand times.

It's uh, it's not much of a song of the summer, but whatever
It's a great album! The music video for Hard Times is also really cool!

I enjoyed this but yeah, it's not much of a summerjam. Even more so when you consider the context.
"Sandra has a good solid anti-murderer vibe. My skin felt very secure and sufficiently attached to my body when I met her. Also my organs." HAIL SATAN
Update: This whole album is my summer jam
I was literally just coming in here to say this
I listened to it twice, back to back. Then told myself, "I can't just listen to this all day."
So I played one song by somebody else, said "That's enough of that," and went in for my third round with the album.

You can just Google Este Haim to see what I mean.
