I can sort of live with the Clans, since the game is at least starting with the fun tech level instead of the broken-ass one.
And who knows, HBS could actually bother with implementing the Clans in a entertaining and balanced way. I'm sure Weisman has to be tired tired of hearing about how overpowered the Clans are for all these years, and a singleplayer game means being able to properly implement the kinds of restrictions the Clans work under.
I want my clans to be overpowered, Honestly I dont think they are overpowered enough considering hundreds of years without a dark age/regression like the inner sphere suffered.
They are stupidly easy to balance and make fun to play against, too, because their technological superiority and cultural norms mean they cant field numbers or use things like artillery. IS on the other hand is all about the human wave zerging with artillery bombardment air strikes everything else under the sun. Combined arms and soldiers beat technological superiority skilled individuals more often than not.
PGI is just stupid and lazy and incompetent.
Honestly, I don't see how you would balance something like that where you only control one mech.
You'd need 12 people to every 5 wanting to play the cannn fodder faction and I don't see that happening.

I mean, ultimately, clan or no clan, balanced or unbalanced, a multiplayer deathmatch game is never going to feel quite like Battletech because there aren't really any stakes for losing. Nobody has to worry about their shit-hot robot actually getting trashed so they play differently than they "really" would. In the fiction, the Clans' big weakness was their incredibly long logistics tail and getting a new Timber Wolf to the front lines was a lot more complicated than whacking a respawn button, and in a singleplayer game HBS will be able to replicate those conditions.
And I want that to happen, because I really want to live out that story, with a scrappy team of IS mechwarriors suffering bloody noses and terrible defeats but gradually learning and adapting until they can start turning the tables on the clans. That, to me, is one of the iconic Battletech experiences.

Where do I buy your game?
To be honest I never played the TT with the clans because by then my friends and I graduated High School and spread to the four corners. I do remember my brother buying the clan mech readout book (thing) and us drooling over all the new tech and mechs.

Well first and foremost, with regards to MWO, you dont have the clans be a full fucking 12 man, with access to all the combined arms that IS has. You make it 2 stars vs 3 lances, or a star vs 2 lances, and you dont let the clans have airstrikes and artillery and shit.
Secondly, the developer has to be impartial and not enjoy furiously masturbating over the clans to the point where they sabotage the opposing side anytime it starts to show any progress at winning.
It helps to listen to your testers who point out problems too, but PGI prefers to fire them and keep only the brown nosers..because Russ and Paul's ego are the most important thing to keep afloat.
Which is fine in and of itself, but runs into the problem of zooming out to the 4X level: you lose the tactility of 'Mech on 'Mech combat (BattleTech) when you're pitting Regiment vs. Regiment.

The Clans had their dark age this whole time. The warriors were in charge and just took turns blowing each other up instead of having the scientists and engineers in charge. They really haven't advanced that much at all considering how long they've been alone and untouched by the Sphere's multiple devastating succession wars.
But really all that needs to be done to balance Clans is that the game designers need to realize that you can balance by equal tonnage or numbers. They don't even really need to follow their silly rules of engagement.
It would be pretty epic if HBS kept you at a lance and then blew it out to a full company for a single mission somewhere during the campaign. I'm not sure the UI is even designed to handle 12 mechs. Something tells me the next BT game after this one, you'll be playing with a Star of Clan mechs invading the IS.

I really hope the multiplayer is expanded to allow basically tabletop style campaigns, like megamek only with not written in archaic enochian.

Just log in to video sharing site like YouTube or bitchute and upload the file.
You can use an editor like xmedia recode if you want to to try and reduce the file size by reducing the resolution, trimming the duration, and changing the file format or adjusting the bitrate.
Hmm ok. Crap, this is a bit more involved. Thanks for the help, will check out the two software that were recommended. The file I wanted to upload is 470ish megs so guessing it will need some rework before uploading to YouTube.

Nah (unless you have bandwidth caps). I've uploaded multi-gig video files before (set it to upload overnight...Youtube video processing can take a while on those large files).

Ok, so let's see if this works. I didn't have any microphone, just recorded the game. The first three attempts prior to this match were terrible with my team getting steamrolled. This was the first decent match for me. I also switched up my build from 3ERSL, 12MGs to 1CHML, 12MGs with more ammo.

@Elvenshae Thanks! Yeah, I had one ton less before and it just plain sucked. I couldn't decide between being a scavenger and just waiting it out or going in like I normally do. Since I found myself running in too often I switched it up to the crappy one I have now. Still tweaking since I need more ammo.
@Mortious Yeah... It really is a pain trying to find that elusive enemy light. I should post my video where I was trying to gun down an enemy Piranha.
@Buttcleft YES!!!! I got the Padre anger seal of approval. If you hated my score you should see my "terrible" matches with it. Still break over 150 since I usually always get one kill with the MGs.
Sweet christmas, Bets. That volume of machine gun fire is just ridiculous.
Thank you for posting that video. Seeing that cockpit (hell yeah it's cramped, give it to me) and watching you just shred some fools gives me life.
I know first-hand it can take out a Timberwolf, or any heavy singlehandedly. You might not live afterwards, but a 20 ton for a heavy is a fair trade in my book.
I'm tempted to try out the heavy machine guns to see how much more damage I can put out.

why not LMGs for better range? MGs are for critseeking arent they?

I don't think HMGs are worth the extra tonnage and reduced range. You also lose out on a lot of damage potential by switching from standard MGs as each ton of HMG and LMG ammo only does 140 and 175 damage before crits, respectively, while standard MGS do 200. You don't always have the choice to only shoot exposed sections. Sometimes you have to chew through some armor to get to the good parts.
I actually haven't played more than 6 rounds in my PIR-1(S). MG boating lights were annoying before the Piranha, but the Piranha just takes it to a new level. It just feels too dirty using it. I have the same reaction to Piranhas now as I did to Streak Raven in closed beta.
I'm late to the party on Battletech's new game. Perhaps I'm making unfair comparisons to XCOM (a game I don't even like that much), but I wished movements and combat had a bit more cinematics to it. I'm not feeling the mechs' sense of weight and power from movement and combat, other than screen jitter. MechAssault and Mechwarrior (the old ones) had that on lock.
But its still a Day 1 purchase for me.

Oh ok, here I thought that the heavy did more damage than the standard MG. Thanks for that intel, going to stick with the regular MGs then.
Yep, the MGs are not just for crit damage but to also chew through armor since they do so much damage over a short period of time. That Raven found out the hard way when I tore through its front armor to kill him.
I felt the same about light MG boats (mainly clans) when I ran my MG Arctic Cheetah. They were just annoying and niche mechs. The Piranha on the other hand doesn't feel dirty to me since it is only a 20 Tonner and at that weight a mech can be excused for exploiting it. Although my poor Locusts now sit dormant since I started running the Piranha 1. Not to mention I don't see too many of the Piranhas as launch since I think everybody doesn't like lights. I see more ACs again though, but they're not running the MG build (thank goodness).

My personal collection has languished without attention for far too long, and it is time to retake the brush and paint to continue my progress through the Oosik Battallion! It is now time to continue to memorialize our members in paint, plastic, and metal. As such, I'll be contacting the members of Echo and Foxtrot lances, to begin the process of color and camo selection.
For those who have forgotten, Alpha through Delta lances are already complete:

Unless the scope of your game actually includes the clan’s weakness (logistics) then the clan are going to be nuts.
So what I am saying is someone make me a Battletech 4X game thanks.

Clearly, the answer is to make it so the clan players are playing an FPS, and the IS players are playing an RTS controlling multiple units.
Natural Selection!

I mean, I've got all of 3rd Company plotted out....but if CGL/IWM releases the Classic Marauder we've seen renders and protos of, I can certainly be persuaded to open up a slot.
