I got my Ace Of Spades in a Grasshopper where Cheerios started blocking friendly fire on the last enemy mech so I could get the kill. It was pretty great.
You just reminded me that I miss running with you and Cheerios. Especially back in the Locust OP days. Wonder what he'd think of the Piranha. *shivers* Maybe I don't want to know...
Edit: Now HE would be one I'd love to watch a video playing a light.
Double Edit: GAH, what a terrible new page post. So we were talking about the Nips Oosiks and how we all want to be liked by Nips!
Yeah probably an Arctic Cheetah since the Piranha is grounded. The AC runs 6 MGs which is nothing to sneeze at. Plus 2 Heavy Medium Lasers (if the meta is still that).
If only they'd make a Shadowrun based table top minis game now. And more Shadowrun video games. And give us the Unseen back.
I'm sure the unseen will be back when it is safe to do so. Aka after the lawsuit is dead or HG.
Like the Locust, Archer, Battlemaster, Marauder (and IIC), Phoenix Hawk, Rifleman, Warhammer and wolverine? Which are already in games? Just to name the few i can remember off the top of my head :snap:

Current list of Unseen that have received MWO art reworks:
Now, some of these are from more contentious sources than others. Of them, the Phoenix Hawk, Warhammer, Marauder, Rifleman, and Archer are the ones that could be considered "high risk" due to their original source. Some of the others (notably above, the Jenner IIc) are considered Unseen due to their original art having been done by a firm outside of CGL*.
Here's what's left yet on the Unseen list that could reasonably see an MWO art revision:
The Victor Musical Industries art being declared Unseen is a fucking crime in my opinion. Why? Because all of that was original art, created and licensed for BattleTech, and not intended for any other IP. It had no other IP source (despite having some nods to existing designs, in the case of the IIc line), and oh yeah THE ART IS FUCKING GREAT.
Also, because the art is amazing, most of the tabletop miniatures (which of course were pulled from production due to being Unseen) are fucking amazing as well, many times better than their concept art.
And here I'll post the best stuff, because fucking really everyone should agree these designs are amazing:

Wouldn't the Battlemaster also be in that list of "'high risk' due to their original source"? I mean, it was Breetai's battle armor.
Also, wait...what?! The Stone Rhino is technically classed as an Unseen? WTF?!
EDIT - huh, weird. I'm not seeing the Battlemaster as being part of the Macross universe...but I could've sworn I remembered seeing it in the anime (and I never watched Dougram...so I wouldn't have seen it there). Guess I should break out my collector's box of Macross DVDs and rewatch the show.

The UEDF stuff makes for decent stand-ins for Battletech, if a bit oversized. And also being plastic model kits that are 175% a pain in the ass to assemble. But they're pretty good looking, and you'll never find them that cheap again.
The Glaug Command pod is where you find your Marauder, but this fig is wildly out of scale for use in Battletech. That said, it's again a PITA model kit that looks really good assembled.

According to Sarna, the Battlemaster is sourced from Fang of the Sun Dougram, not Macross, so it's less of a contentious issue (still though...). It sounds like from the Sarna article that CGL worked something out (see the "25 Years of Art and Fiction" bit in the Unseen article) that covered everything (including FotSD and Crusher Joe), but then the Macross part bit them in the ass on it.
And yeah, despite not being directly sourced from anything (its design nods to the Destroid Monster) and being entirely whole-cloth art, it's Unseen due to being part of the VMI package of art.

Missed out on kickstarting this, but for these prices, yeah, I'll grab the starter and the Phalanx/Spartan destroids and the artillery Battlepods to have some of everything. Everything, in this case, meaning tiny robots.

Huh. I decided to update MWO, and it looks like they finally killed the old stand-alone launcher and replaced it with their new Portal launcher thingy.

Thanks Nips as well. Spent some money buying them as well. As much as I hate HG, I love the Macross/Robotech figures and picked up too much from the sale on Palladium's site. Next to pick up PDF copies of all the cards and such from DTRPG as well as digital copies of the books I have from the original game. Mainly so I can leave my books on the shelf as collections.

The lawsuit has no teeth as the company has no actual rights in the designs they are suing over (and legally speaking never have)

We (fans) all know this. But it doesn't change the fact that there is a lawsuit and is still in the system though. Which is keeping them from using the Unseen in BT so far.

Yeah, that's the funny thing, right. This current court case has to reach its natural conclusion before everyone that's not HG can finally breathe a sigh of relief. And the court systems are a funny thing, beholden only to their own arcane processes.

I mean
If they bring up the binding arbitration which holds precedent here, it’s like, really really crystal. If I’m the defense I’m doing that
Is there not a counter suit to be sought too? Lost business due to these assets being unusable for so long?
I figured most companies that HG went after didn't care to waste the resources to do that. Plus lost business/money would be hard to calculate I would imagine.
Is there not a counter suit to be sought too? Lost business due to these assets being unusable for so long?
Lawsuits are a really bad way to make money, at least for a normal business. You might break even on your legal fees if you're lucky. Suing someone really only to share the pain with whoever is screwing you over.

Hey, just noticed that you never posted this over on the TT thread. Should go do that @Nips
Fellow Oosiks it is Oosik night tonight. I plan on being onling barring any real world flooding or other fiasco out of my control.
Crash and burn!
What time were you thinking? I've been on for the past 30 minutes kitting out my Sun Spider and Roughneck (and, Mist Lynx, for what it's worth) and only MechMantis is online.

Thanks for the fun runs @Maijinamuro and @Erlkönig . I found out that the free Roughneck is fun with 2 RAC5s, 2RL20s, and 1RL15. The RLs are great against lights when they think that running through the team is a great idea. Till they get blasted by the 45 rockets in the back. The 2 RACs are so nice. Face tanking stupid clanners who think they're immune and suddenly blow up is so calming. The Sun Spider feels like a Cicada to pilot with 2UAC10s and 1LPL. But feels like it has the front armor of a Locust for some strange reason. I can't take much damage at all in it. But it does move at 81KPH which allows it to shoot and scoot.
Then I learned that my Banshee isn't that great compared to my 4UAC5+1ERML Cyclops. Man that thing still can work. Especially when people ignore me and wonder why they're dying so fast.
I do wish I could have run my Piranha to show you the madness. But we needed the weight and it was somewhat fun to run Assaults and Heavies for once.
The talk of the past few pages has me wondering if I can manage to do anything useful with a crab and two Heavy PPCs. It's a shame that the only one with JJ's doesn't have useful quirks or a cbill boost though. But I was always a sucker for PPC builds that run too hot.
I'll need to patch the game to be sure, but I think that I have the parts lying around to build this: CRB-27SL
Relevant bits are XL 300 engine, twin heavy ppcs, 4 JJ's, 12 DHS. Some armor was stripped off of the head, legs, and arms.

A similar setup works pretty well with the shadow cat, but it's got clan tech going for it. Notably the ecm and masc that it practically gets for free. The upside of the crab would be 30 points of true PPFLD instead of only 2/3 of the damage being pinpoint.
You should see my Jester's current build. Four Snub nose ppcs and twin laser AMS. Burn baby burn. I really liked how it turned out, although I hate how the ghost heat penalty is so severe that it can instantly die from overheat if I fire the weapons out of sequence. Trigger discipline is mandatory.

Because there was a light in one of my previous games boating machine guns and JJing around. It looked crazy.

Like the Locust, Archer, Battlemaster, Marauder (and IIC), Phoenix Hawk, Rifleman, Warhammer and wolverine? Which are already in games? Just to name the few i can remember off the top of my head :snap:
Archer
Battlemaster
Griffin
Jenner IIC
Locust
Marauder
Marauder IIC
Phoenix Hawk
Rifleman
Shadow Hawk
Thunderbolt
Warhammer
Wolverine
Now, some of these are from more contentious sources than others. Of them, the Phoenix Hawk, Warhammer, Marauder, Rifleman, and Archer are the ones that could be considered "high risk" due to their original source. Some of the others (notably above, the Jenner IIc) are considered Unseen due to their original art having been done by a firm outside of CGL*.
Here's what's left yet on the Unseen list that could reasonably see an MWO art revision:
Conjurer (Hellhound)
Crusader
Glass Spider (Galahad)
Goliath
Grand Crusader
Griffin IIC
Horned Owl (Peregrine)
Howler (Baboon)
Incubus (Vixen)
Locust IIC
Longbow
Marauder II
Nexus
Phoenix Hawk IIC
Raijin
Rifleman IIC
Scorpion
Shadow Hawk IIC
Stinger
Stinger LAM
Valkyrie
Vapor Eagle (Goshawk)
Warhammer IIC
Wasp
*Wherein I complain loudly:
Yeah, I edited my initial response...but:

I meant for HPG to use it in Battletech. They mentioned a while ago that they are waiting and seeing. Guessing it is because of the lawsuit against them.

And if you want to make any of the OST mechs (snicker). There are so many fiddly bits to these models, but the Warhammer and Rifleman look great!
Missed out on kickstarting this, but for these prices, yeah, I'll grab the starter and the Phalanx/Spartan destroids and the artillery Battlepods to have some of everything. Everything, in this case, meaning tiny robots.
Thanks for the heads up @Nips.
Edit: and since I've got my order in, I'll toss a link out in case anyone else wants it.

This ought to be fun to download and install.

I figured most companies that HG went after didn't care to waste the resources to do that. Plus lost business/money would be hard to calculate I would imagine.

Lawsuits are a really bad way to make money, at least for a normal business. You might break even on your legal fees if you're lucky. Suing someone really only to share the pain with whoever is screwing you over.
Hey, just noticed that you never posted this over on the TT thread. Should go do that @Nips

What time were you thinking? I've been on for the past 30 minutes kitting out my Sun Spider and Roughneck (and, Mist Lynx, for what it's worth) and only MechMantis is online.
I'm logging in now.
Edit: Patching now...

1) Going tunnel on Frozen City in a Mauler is a recipe for being mocked by the rest of the team
2) I should never switch away from a brawling mech
Then I learned that my Banshee isn't that great compared to my 4UAC5+1ERML Cyclops. Man that thing still can work. Especially when people ignore me and wonder why they're dying so fast.
I do wish I could have run my Piranha to show you the madness. But we needed the weight and it was somewhat fun to run Assaults and Heavies for once.

I'll need to patch the game to be sure, but I think that I have the parts lying around to build this:
CRB-27SL
Relevant bits are XL 300 engine, twin heavy ppcs, 4 JJ's, 12 DHS. Some armor was stripped off of the head, legs, and arms.

I would like to see how long you survive with that setup.
Thinkin' LB10, SRMs for me on the Powerhouse.. but I'll need a closer look at it.
Pretty set on trying to throw together a UAC5/ATM Sun Spider 'Goliath' just for my personal gratification.
Got preorder in for BT - lets see how long it takes for me to get frustrated with having to actually manage my finances between explosions.
XFIRE:redspo0n (Yep, Zero in there) XBL: Pinkspo0n
A similar setup works pretty well with the shadow cat, but it's got clan tech going for it. Notably the ecm and masc that it practically gets for free. The upside of the crab would be 30 points of true PPFLD instead of only 2/3 of the damage being pinpoint.
You should see my Jester's current build. Four Snub nose ppcs and twin laser AMS. Burn baby burn. I really liked how it turned out, although I hate how the ghost heat penalty is so severe that it can instantly die from overheat if I fire the weapons out of sequence. Trigger discipline is mandatory.
