How is online play? Do people actually race or is it more of a 'haw haw ramming speed go!' while they don't brake in a corner and send you into orbit?
If people drive like that in my games they get booted. But the only ones I've seen drive like idiots are randoms, who usually join a race, wreck everyone in the first turn, then leave.
Good deal, sounds like I need to join in on some PA racing action.
Another question is how large of a PI deficit can you overcome when racing the computer? I am playing the computer on hard with no assists except for the braking line and it seems that when the PI close I will usually win but I can't seem to win when I have a significantly lower PI.
Materly on
When life gives you lemons, you squeeze the lemon juice into your enemies eyes and steal his apples - Runoir
That just depends on your driving skill and what upgrades you've done. Something with upgraded suspension and tires can usually beat an AI car that has higher PI just from power.
I usually race on normal though, I'm not looking for a big challenge with the single player, I use it mostly as a way to get money and cars to use in multiplayer, and to get used to driving my cars.
so uh I figured I'd finally bite the bullet and upgrade to xbox live gold so I can play this online. problem is I cannot for the life of me remember what email address I signed up with. I finnaly remembered the login to the hotmail address I never use but came to find out its not assosciated with my Live account. sonofa..
So I really want to make a Guitar Hero II car. Yeah, I know someone was already doing one, but this one will reflect the Xbox 360 version and will be white with the entire logo.
...problem is, everytime I start making the logo, I find the task way too big for me to handle. I don't think I can replicate it very well...:|

I find it's easier for me to do complex color schemes and decals in stages and spread it out over a few days. I make a goal of what I want to do,accomplish some of it, and then race. Makes it seem less daunting and impossible.
Here's another great tuning tutorial -- maybe it's sort of a gimme since it's on the front page of forzamotorsport.net, but it does lay things out in a pretty general, straightforward tone and if you (like me) go for handling and acceleration over gonzo huge top speed it looks pretty helpful.

I've made a few enhancement to Rice Girl.
I'm going to try the my little pony as my first real picture, but not on this car.
The G25? I've been meaning to get that for my PC even before I thought about getting an xbox. I have an older logitech momo that doesn't appear to work with forza.
The only thing I might change is the placement of the 20-sided die.
Also, since we're on the subject, the Penny Arcade car has 780 decals and the Guitar Hero car has 431 decals.
props, sir. props
Indeed, that's amazing. I'm going to start playing with the editor myself, not because I have any artistic ability at all but because I want to see what it's capable of.
Yeah I know this is borderline "image macro", which should be disallowed even if it's not. But this image was taken recently at the company I work for. Yes they actually held a vote and this is the name of the rewards program that was chosen, and those cookies really did all say PROPS. That is not a shop. I spent most of my days off over the past month building a system for employees to use internally for this program, so I feel I'm entitled. :-)

That was actually going to be my next project. Awesome job, man.
Haha, thank you very much . I actually got the idea earlier in this thread when someone mentioned that Carl's car was in the game. I only regret I can't get the right rims or the huge ass blower on the hood, then it would be perfect.
I demand screenshots of a beat-to-hell "HOT WAD" edition.
Lol, I hadn't thought of that. I'll put that on my list of cars to do for sure. Though I've already got another 2-3 projects in mind to do next--and at some point I actually have to race my cars
Take a look in your rearview: this is what you see before you die.
The '82 911 Turbo 3.3 has the dual advantage of being upgradeable to frightening quickness -- this particular one here, at 449 HP and moderate weight reduction, does 0-60 in under 4 seconds and 0-100 in under 9, topping out at a good-enough-for-Silverstone 185 MPH -- and, with the right parts and mild tuning, handles like a ten-speed bike; I have to completely lose my head and get really distracted to get it to even think about spinning past its normal turning radius into oversteer, and even then it's easily correctable. Maybe I'm biased, though; I did win the Porsche Manufacturer series with it after repeated failures with the 959. Now that's a hard car to drive.
I just spoke to a friend and learned some interesting news -- and I want to ask the people here a question. This is a rather sad story and my request could be considered drama-queen-esque, so I'm putting the story and request for advice inside a spoiler. The upshot is, I wonder if I could get someone (or pay someone) to paint a car for a friend of mine's daughter, or if you think it'd even be a good idea.
So I have this friend I used to work with many years ago. She has two kids, a daughter and a son. She was in the process of divorcing their father, Mark. I knew them when they were together, and Mark was an alright guy.
(See what you miss when you forget to call your friends for a couple months? X__X )
Mark was a serious gearhead, and I remember taking my PS2 and Logitech Driving Force Pro over to their house, and Mark seriously enjoyed Gran Turismo 4. Other than that he wasn't much of a gamer.
As you can imagine, his daughter and son are having a rather tough time with all this.
My question to you guys is: do you think it would be appropriate to have a custom car painted in Forza 2, to remind them of their Dad? Maybe I could find out what kind of car Mark really lusted after, buy one in the game, and paint it up "Team Roberson Racing" or something.
Would that be in bad taste? Would it just be bringing up uncomfortable memories do you think?
If you guys don't think it'd be in bad taste, I'll bring it up to my friend and see what she thinks. If she also approves, and gives me some ideas for the car, could I commission one of you guys to design a custom car for them, and then gift it to me on Xbox Live? Next time I take my 360 over, I'll show it to them.
I really feel for those kids. I mean, when they were going through a tough time financially, I loaned the older one my DS and several games, and then secretly went and bought another DS.

I know GoGamer got some flak earlier in this thread, but in light of the Outpost's sale...well, selling out, i present to you this: 103.99 + cheapest shipping = about $114usd. Considering the time it would take to ship, I think I'm just going to bite the bullet and go to a brick and mortar. Need to unload some games that were taking up valuable dvd rack space anyway.
EDIT: err, that would be the Microsoft wheel. helps to say what i'm talking about, you see. Also, Stregone, the Logitech wheel is the DriveFX, they unfortunately have not made the G25 for the 360. From what I gather, the DriveFX doesn't hold a candle to the G25, but then I guess Microsoft's wheel wouldn't either if the G25 were on the 360. For the record, I say that only knowing what I've read of the Logitech wheels, but I've played with the MS wheel at my cousin's house and it seemed more than adequate.
How is the local (not Live) multi-player for Forza 2? Do you have the options of how many AI opponents you race against, or is it always a full field of cars? My girlfriend likes racing games and I am thinking this one might be fun to pic up ... especially since I have an artistic side and would have fun with the car painting.

ahahahaha, indeed, i actually laughed at that one. I just need to get a Father's Day present sewn up (can't get this for my dad, unfortunately, since he doesn't really play console games), and then my conscience will be free to get myself a copy of this. Nice.
Oh hell yes, now we get into the "music to go ridiculously fast by" department. My personal top ten:
Giorgio Moroder, "Chase"
Iron Maiden, "Aces High"
Led Zeppelin, Achilles Last Stand (click on that link and wait until about 1:15)
DJ Shadow, "Building Steam With a Grain of Salt (alternate take w/o overdubs)"
Cream, "Toad"
Guitar Wolf, "Route 66"
Deep Purple, "Highway Star" (this should be mandatory)
Hawkwind, "Motorhead"
Trans Am, "Orlando"
The Roots, "Here I Come"
As a quick pet project I threw together a livery of my Goomba t-shirt.
I'll be throwing a couple of them on the auction house on the cheap, but I'll gladly supply the livery to any Arcadians who would like one.
Just add me to your friends list (MechaJeff), gift me the car you would like the livery on and send me a message with PA somewhere in it so I know you're getting it back free of charge. You'll probably get the car re-gifted back to you within a day or so. If I get a hojillion requests, it might take a short bit longer, as I am exceptionally lazy.
Its just a quick, simple, cute design. Nothing special, but dear to my heart.

Oh damn, you knew the guy?
Honestly.. too soon, especially since he died inside a car. I'd wait until next year. They're going to go through a downspot for each holiday they have to do without him.
Honestly.. too soon, especially since he died inside a car. I'd wait until next year. They're going to go through a downspot for each holiday they have to do without him.
Thanks for your feedback, guys. I think that idea came from a need to do something, anything to help, but I think you're right. Damn, Mark and now Mr. Wizard too. Tomorrow I'm going to call every one of my relatives and make sure they know I love them.
Yeah I knew him. He was into some things he shouldn't have been into, but otherwise was a good guy. Pretty good with cars, and he helped me understand a few of the car tuning concepts I didn't really get before. Then again, I don't even check my own fluids on my car, let alone change my own oil or anything else.
Although, he did kill my DS by accident. His daughter has been borrowing it for over a year now, and while she normally wasn't allowed to bring it up here for weekend visits, one day she did bring it up -- but she forgot the power supply. Mark tried to wire something together, and now it won't charge. My friend said she's SO sorry, she'll buy me a new one, but now it doesn't bother me.
For the record, those news articles don't really make the circumstances clear. From what my friend told me when she broke the news to me, it was raining, and the train car he hit was one of those flat cars without a box on top -- so it's likely that he didn't even see there was a train car there until it was too late.
From what my friend says, her daughter is turning into quite the gifted student. She's a bit too young to even think about getting behind the wheel of a car, but I was hoping to show her Forza 2 just to see how well she picks it up. "See, when you're driving on public roads, the most important thing is safety. Speeds are low and cars don't have to work very hard. When racing, though, the safety rules are gone and it becomes much more dangerous -- and the cars have to work as hard as they can." But now that this has happened, maybe she won't want to touch anything automotive, period.
Not only has this turned depressing, it's straying off topic. I have some work to finish up and then I'm going home to beat one more of those damned endurance races. :-)
