Yes, you can specify the amount of AI opponents. We played it together on our LAN and it was set for just the two of us racing, no AI.
wait really? I was playing spit screen with my friend and I dont remember an option for AI, weird.
Ah, probably should have clarified, we were playing on 2 seperate 360s over LAN, not splitscreen. Haven't checked splitscreen yet.
Ok, split screen is what we'd be interested in playing (I guess I was a little deceptive when I said "local"). Can anyone confirm/deny the ability to play without AI opponents in split screen multiplayer?

I know you can play two-player splitscreen. Not sure about higher than that, all we have here are two controllers.
I haven't had a chance to play forza yet since I have been playing the copy of PGR3 that came with the racing wheel.
I REALLY suck at racing games appearantly. I know it is a little off topic in that it is the wrong game, but does anyone have any tips for PGR3 so I don't go careening out of control every time I try to drift? Also, I seem to really be lacking in the kudos department.
i'm no expert, but all i really do is switch quickly between the brakes and accelerator as i go into the corner, then try to manage my steering and acceleration (steering out of the corner) to try and control the slide. Basically, try and picture where the back end of your car is facing, and if it feels like it's going out too far, get off the accelerator and straighten out.
Is there, like, a Tutorial on doing designs on cars? I look at the layer shape options, and I just can't fathom how you guys are making some of these awesome designs. I've been sticking with flat paint and nice rims.
EDIT: Well, after looking around, it looks like you all did it using only the primitives available in the editor, to which I can only say one thing...

Wow.
Do it on the largest/flattest surface you have available on one of your cars. Then move it to wherever you need it.
Tutorial is somewhere in this thread. Shows how to make Quinn (?) from batman I think. I'm still looking for the link.
What do you guys think of following the Line? I've been using it to get a handle on the game, but a lot of people I was racing online said it was dumb and that they never followed it...they also kicked my ass... I'm so used to drifting ala PGR that I now suck at handling turns in a realistic fashion . I also spent a ton of money tricking out a Cadillac that I doubt I'll ever be able to drive the way I want...I think I'll try some Japanese cars built for handling...

The suggested line is good if you've never played a racing sim before, but I think eventually you should learn the tracks and turn it off.
If i pay someone (in game money of course) would anyone be willing to make me a Manchester United Logo thats not locked to the car. Ill even gift the car you put it on.
Ive tried, but seriously i am the least artistic person in the world. Ill pay a reasonable amount as i know these things take a lot of time, so if your interested PM with your price or something.

Anyone remember the "Velocity Girl" concept that J. Allard talked about a few years ago? The demand for this type of user-created content in Forza 2 reminds me of it.
Man, if only Xbox Live Marketplace were setup to allow people to buy/sell services like this, it would be awesome. I too am artistically-challenged (not to mention impatient too), but would be more than willing to send Forza 2 credits (or heck, even MS points) to someone if they're willing to craft me some awesome paint jobs.

I would suggest setting the online componenent aside for a little while and finding a good few tracks to just do test drives (alternatively hot laps) on...over and over and over. Use the suggested line for a while to give yourself a good idea of what makes you get around fastest, but I think you'll be better off turning it off ASAP.
Im addicted to B class online racing. Over the course of a week we managed to pick up a group of cool cool people to race with. Of course, the more courteous drivers are more fun to play with.
I have a huge stable of B class cars all tuned and preped for individual tracks. However, my favorite car so far is probably the 92 GTi using the R32 engine swap that i customized to replicate an older golf (MK1) racer.

I use it not for my driving line (thats just common sense) but I use it to judge how hard and how long to brake.

I would say that it's not necessary ... but without a sense of depth perception it makes sense.
I don't like using it ... but I probably should have at the start with the demo because I didn't know that track at all. It would've been a good primer until I started to memorize.
So I've been playing the heck out of the Demo, and I must say the C class cars are the most fun to drive. I now have to decide if I want to get this or Shadowrun first.

Its actually quite easy to just follow the rubber marks on the road. They're usually pretty close to the racing-line, and the darker the spot is, the harder you should be braking.
Wow. That Star Wars car is just..... amazing. I don't know how people do that shit. I've never even played Forza and I wonder... wtf!
I just think he loaded one "star wars picture" into a vectorizer program on his PC. Scaled down the color range, took the picture appart (most vector program create more simple shapes in order to form the whole picture) and then recreated/draw + (re)layered the ("simple") shapes with the Forza ingame painting program. As sombody already mentioned, painting is an art to combine basic structures (pencil/brush strokes, forms etc) until they resemble something other persons can recognize. If you are talented and have the right tools you can break a scene appart and recreate it on another medium.

So, I accomplished my mission tonight, and bought the damn game. I haven't done any major paint jobs yet, but I did touch up my 1969 Camaro Z/28 and made it look exactly like the one my uncle Steve has. I'm not shitting, he's got the exact same car:
I'm working on my first major paint job right now. I'll post pics when I'm finished.
The weirdest thing happened. I'm creating this paint job of Fenriz from Darkthrone, and to shape his face to what I thought looked ok, I used an oval of the car's paint color. It looked fine.
However when I took it on a track to whip around for a snapshot, there are thin black lines that outline the oval shapes that I used to trim the face. These lines were not there while painting.
I took this snapshot because I was proud of my progress and was done for the day. Now I wonder, if I try to cover up these invisible lines, will more lines reappear further out? I get the feeling that this paint job is just fucked. Anyone had this problem? I've used this same method for other cars with no troubles.

My first real attempt at a paint job. Spoiler'd for teh hueg
It's a bit rough around the edges, and I'm sure some people won't like it, but dammit, it took me a long time.
I've got 1 engine upgrade left on my "2 Wycked" Dodge stealth (upgrade to from sport to race cams and valves, which will bump the rating up to U999) but right now it clocks in at :
0 to 60mph: 2.478s
0 to 100mph: 5.653s
Top speed: 210.7 mph
I mean, I knew that pimping out the engine would make the thing faster but holy crap. I can only imagine what will happen when I upgrade the cams and valves.
EDIT: Props on the paintjob man, I like it a lot

Thanks, man. I'm sick to goddamn death of seeing anime characters on the side of people's cars (it's stupid, it's overdone, seriously), so I figured I'd pay homage to a band I like. I'm going to try to make a Pearl Jam car at some point, I just need to decide on what logo to use.

Once you've bought custom rims, the option appears in the paint screen to paint them, after all the other items.
