I cannot seem to get in a group that can pass the 4.3 story trial. I think I've attempted it 15 times now. People can't handle the fans, and they definitely can't handle it when the mechanics start combining. And forget stacking. I didn't have this much trouble with the end trial of Stormblood, and that was the hardest story-related thing in the game at the time.
Thanks to Rei, last night, for helping Queen and I down Odin!
Next up we want to do Ultros+Typhon, but PuGs are frustrating to communicate with. Then again, I didn't realize the fight was so mechanics-heavy. If anyone would like to give us a hand, that would be appreciated.

Me and my wife are on most nights, so let us know and we'll help you out.
It nothing worse than the other primals in 4.x, especially Shinryu.
Yeah, I did it last night as WAR. Took it on the third attempt.
The fans combined with the stack mechanic were the trickiest part, as a misstep in transition there can kill the healers off. Even took me a bit to get fan execution down. The combination is rough, but fun. Makes me want to queue trials roulette as a 70 healer and experience the fight from that role. First things first though, I'll need to get a healer up to the minimum ilvl before I make that attempt.
A thing I see often in this fight that must be avoidable is when the fans are setting up, the boss targets the MT with a big cone attack. And if the MT is stacked with everyone else in the typical safe spot on the last fan, everyone gets hit with the cone. Makes me think the tank should default to lining up off to the side, around the second or third-last fan. Still enough time to dodge the fans, and only the MT gets the cone.
For some reason in 4.x everytime a full point patch drops I somehow always manage to end up in a group with both healers being at the very minimum ilvl for the story primal during my first runs. Occasionally 1 of the DPS and tanks will be there too, but it's always been both healers for me to boot.
Being rusty and not quite overpowered has been a good recipe for longer than necessary runs.

Yeah, you gotta position the boss away from the rest of the group, because that tank-buster move hits like a truck.

Also, Make It Rain starts on June 6th.
Thanks for the offer! Good news is, we did a lot of progress last night - 2 dungeons + Ultros fight done! If you and your wife have classes that complement ours (I can tank or heal, Queen is DPS), it might be a lot of fun to do some runs with a dedicated group, if you aren't busy doing other stuff.
Anyways, I took the time to explain the Ultros fight to the group (one thing I learned: never mind trying to stop Typhon with the goblin punch, Pubbies don't understand the mechanics there. As long as the entire group just stacks up under him, no one should die). A bunch of them were bored, but they waited, and we managed to do it after 3 attempts. One of the players even posted what I assumed had to be a macro of ASCII art saying "MECHANICS ARE FOR CARS!"
I got a wind-up Ultros for my trouble, and it's gratifying to see 5 player commendations come in after a fight like that

We're omni70 on our mains, so we can slot in anywhere.
And yeah, the "ignore mechanics" people get annoying, because the game will punish that behavior once you get to harder fights (T9 is still a PITA because Nael has a variety of instant kill mechanisms.)
It says 90 second PSA but you click on it and the runtime is 2:10. And I wonder why they didn't put it on Youtube or something. Maybe that comes later.
Oh, wait, I read a bit further and apparently it's for broadcast on those giant screens overlooking Shinjuku.
On this particular screen, they have a broadcast schedule of June 1st at 11:44, 1:44, 3:44, 5:44, and 7:44, while on June 2nd it's 11:50, 1:50, 3:50, 5:50, and 7:50.
The text in between is pretty good. For the second one, it mentions being careful regarding bikes, cars, and magitek armor.
Those icons are lovely, it's like "hey don't look at your phone while in a meeting, in the classroom or when fighting primals". I also really enjoy that they picked the #1 reason why people still die at Titan for this ad.
The first bit is funny if you started in Ul'dah, as well. For those who don't know, it's riffing on an early Ul'dah MSQ quest, except that instead of a poor girl, it's an erstwhile DRG who runs into the thug.
So, latest in the chronicles of Khartan and Queen:
We've completed the pre-HW Hildebrand story (which is one of the few times Queen has actually bothered watching (most of) the cutscenes!) and are slowly but surely working our way through the MSQ (we'll but up against Shiva soon).
I'm pretty much done with crafting for the moment, having levelled 3 crafting classes + mining to 50, so my focus is solely on the story quests, while levelling Bard on the side, 'cause I was curious about the music mechanic.
We both have a complete set of Allagan gear for our main classes, meaning that crafting is pretty much pointless for us at this point, and the gear we're getting as part of the MSQ is already outdated. (I've been picking up the healing set for my SCH secondary class).
Despite the fact that I know it's pretty much pointless, I'm still enjoying levelling my expedition team with the Grand Company (and it allows me to queue up for dungeons nice and quick with my Bard)
At this point it's just a matter of time before we bite the bullet and get HW/SB.
OH! We also have enough to buy a plot of land for ourselves! We figure we'll go to Thanalan, since the guild house is in La Noscea already and The Shroud is overpriced right now, even though that would be my preferred choice since I spend so much time in Gridania. The influx of returning players for the patch has paid off for us, I've been selling Silver Ingots to make money and it's been going pretty well!

You can get some nice +mgp or +xp consumables that last for 2h, it's far from useless

Oh? Someone else (on these boards, I think) was saying that there's no real point to doing them. And, to be honest, aside from being able to solo dungeons, I haven't seen any benefit yet (my guys are around level 40)
My healer is lev48 now and that means Aurum Vale is the go-to dungeon. That place is rough. Should always remind the tank that this place is different from all other content in that you need to pull mobs back and pick em off in small-ish groups. And then there's the terrible bosses that seems to require a shitton of healing.
I am considering to just do Squadron Missions till I am past AV-levels.
I was fine with Aurum Vale at the time, just repeat-queued it over and over. Even if you wipe once, that usually convinces people to take it slower and the rest goes smoothly.

With more and more content out there that is not-AV, it is just so jarring when you pull it in roulette. It is not hard, it is just so utterly different it feels like I'm playing LOTRO again.
yeah, AV requires patience, which most other dungeons generally don't
edit: also the level 69 dungeon (the name escapes me) can be super rough if you're levelling an alt class and you haven't been lucky enough and/or spent enough gil to have geared up much since 60
4.31 patch notes are up
It adds The Weapon's Refrain (Ultimate) for all yall raiders out there and a bunch of bug fixes for everyone else. Nothing really catches my eye, but the client appears to have been made more stable.

there's only so much coordination you can expect from random players who've likely never interacted before and likely never will again

*edit: even during the fans. It's just too risky.
I can understand it in the later parts of the fight, where you have the yellow AoE tells overlapping with the fan placement.

Follow the link, then click on the grey boxes to watch. The left one is the 30 second short, the right one is the full 90 second PSA.

Nor should you text and operate magitek armor.
Would you call it a...Tomephone?

Archers are the best Squadron dps to bring along (though not as good as they originally were when they were super overpowered, but still good).
They've also recently added Sohm Al (a level 53 dungeon) to the Squadron list, so that could likely pick up from there.
I wouldn't level my main that way, but it's good for alts, especially if you mix it with other activities to avoid the repetition.
I am considering to just do Squadron Missions till I am past AV-levels.
ETA: Also, you may want to look into Mor Dhona levequests and North Thanalan FATEs. That's how most people pushed from late 40s to 50.
