So the shipments are rolling in. Now I'm only looking at stores in my area (Norfolk, VA), but I'm seeing a minimum of 40 units across 9 stores (and 2 that still don't have them). 2 of those stores creeped into the low 50s.
If these are indicative of stock levels accross the US (and tbh there's nothing that says they will be) then we should all be good to go just by putting the minimal amount of effort into lining up on launch day.
If I can walk into a place the day after launch and get one that would be pretty cool.
(I am not expecting this, but it is just about the maximum amount of effort i'm willing to put in for a nintendo product- even one as amazing as this.)
I'll keep an eye out for a 2nd SNES classic if anyone fails to get one. I only ask you to pay MSRP, shipping, and + $3 so I can get nachos on my walk to the post office.

I would so be up for this if you do manage to find one in the wild. Heck, if I manage to find one myself I'll still send you $3 for nachos.
It was confirmed that the Classic SNES and Classic NES can swap controllers and work fine. Granted, you'd be short on buttons using a NES controller on the SNES, but using the SNES controller gives you two controllers with longer cords! Assuming you, ya' know, own the Classic NES.
I do! Got lucky 4 months after the damn thing launched.

Anyone know if I'll be able to walk into a wal mart at midnight and get one? I took Friday off, but I'd love to be able to get one midnight and just sleep in Friday morning if at all possible.

Is it true that the SNES classic doesn’t come with an ac adaptor?
Less egregious than omitting one from a 3DS like they started doing. It presumably just uses Micro USB like the NES Mini, errybody got one of those lying around.
I tweeted to Amazon customer support asking about a delivery date update for the SNES classic, and they replied they don’t have any other information right now but will email an update when they can. Doesn’t bode well for this thing getting to me on Friday.

Call your local walmart and ask them. Not trying to be a dick but that's the only way to get that information.

I really depends on how many Walmart gets and how many people line up, as it's the only "midnight" place so there's likely to be a lot. Also from experience Walmart is frequently a shitshow when it comes to releases like this, so don't be surprised if they are sitting in a box in the back somewhere and no one even knows or something dumb like that.

I really don't NEED the snes mini - I have something that does similar things - but knowing I might be able to just walk in and buy one makes it stupidly tempting.

Yeah, I used, various means to play most of these games to my heart's content when i was in highschool and college and had no income. For me this is about 2 things.
It's a win for the even younger me, who was never able to get a game console of any sort. I have a lot of good memories of playing these games with friends. The kid next door and the kid across the street, whose parents got them all the stuff. Both of them in the vicinity of my age, but enough younger that i could technically babysit. AKA, be the somewhat more responsible one who just kept them out of trouble by playing videogames with them while the parents were at work, or on a date or running errands. As the better reader and the kid who didn't own the system, it usually fell to me to read the strategy guides and walk them through it. Also a lot of hours spent wandering around in Secret of Mana, stealing the spear from each other because it was obviously the cooler weapon. My other big memory from that era was my friend Sean's birthday party in the 6th grade, where we started playing Super Mario RPG in the afternoon and played in shifts all night (a lot of the if you weren't paying SMRPG it was SimAnt) and by the time I left in the morning for church, we'd gotten farther than I'd ever been.
The second thing is i now have a niece who is nearly 1 year old and it would be nice to share these with her when she's old enough.

Did anyone get/try the Nyko wireless NESc controller? I see they are making them for the SNESc and I'm absolutely going that route unless they are total garbo

Honestly, this HAS to be the biggest market draw for these classic devices. I'm getting one to play with my 14 year old sister, AND because the device has an almost perfect library of games that represent a lot of good times with the console.
That's neat, will the Nyko work on PC since it's a mini-USB to charge?
I don't think so but I'm really not sure. Nyko also makes the NESc controller that runs off AAA batteries and I'm guessing they will do the same for the SNESc. There is also this made by 8bitdo. It is a whopping $40 but I know for a fact it works PC/Mac/Linux/iOS/Android. It also has a very handy feature of pressing start + select to return to the NESc home screen to select a new game. Otherwise I believe you have to physically restart the console. Given the design of the NES30 controller I don't see why it would not also work with the SNESc.
edit: Furthermore the NES30's bluetooth dongle allows other controllers to be used with the NESc such as a wii remote or a ps4 controller.
I'm hoping Nintendo managed to lock down the system this time. The rampant piracy on display with the NES Classic was disheartening, to say the least.
Why is that disheartening? I thought it was cool to see how quickly people hacked the little thing and did neat stuff with it. Plus that's how we found out Nintendo probably used ROMs they downloaded from some ROM site in there. Not like there's a bunch of multiplayer games to hack and cheat online with or anything.

Barring SF2, every SNES game has been pirated to hell and back for decades. Same for the NES. I don't think letting people throw more ROMS on the classics is going to change much.

It certainly seems they have learned their lesson! Here's hoping.
Now if only I could also afford a capture card to stream the thing if I manage to get one.
