I guess we don't get a normal event this week? Is the Newcomer's event taking the place of a regular event? Because that's not very great. If they're gonna do newbie stuff, it needs to be along-side regular stuff, not instead-of.
It kind of is though? Revenge stuff for the vets, newcomer stuff for the...newcomers, where the rewards are ALSO very good for the vets

FYI I emailed Support. They said Newcomers' events and banners have no end date set. They will make an announcement if they're going to take them down.
Ice team test passed with flying colors - Rebirth Seifer got spanked. Edea BSB, Rinoa BSB2, Papalymo hastega/faithga, Penelo BSB, Y'shtola SSII/Asylum, RW Rikku USB. Rinoa's CMD1 did 27k, Edea's CMD1 did 36k+. Nothing Seifer did caused more than 900 damage, so healing was trivial. May need to try this out against Rufus, this fight felt like a 140 instead of a 200.
Given that the mote rewards seem to be 24 of 1 and 14 of the other, I'm fully anticipating only getting 14 of spirit and being 1 away from diving yshtola.
Finished off my Lightning and Cloud LM dives, and got Squall to his last two nodes. After him I don't really have any physical powerhouses, so I may save up and see if good relics come my way. Hopefully Bartz.

I guess I'd rather have the collaboration we are missing. Or something similar but reskinned.

Luckily, the total amount of Spirit motes after all fights are done is more than that.

Yeah this is exactly where I'm at as well, so I think I'm just going to bank them for awhile, until the next fest or something

There are 38 Spirit motes remaining (14 from Warmech, 24 from Garuda), which is very important for me as I only have 65 total due to missing 2 of the CMs.
I'm gonna save my DEX and VIT until after the Ultrabutts event. If I don't get the stuff needed for Ultimate Rapidfire Butts, I'm gonna Legend dive Luneth for power and speed.

The standouts IMO are Fujin, Tyro, Pecil, Vincent, Edge, Zack, Noctis, Vaan, Fran, Faris, Setzer, and Shelke. Of course, this depends on relic availability (besides Shelke, who's just there to Entrust someone).
Hm. BRV/SPR is right out; Agrias has gobbled up pretty much all of my Sporit motes with that same combination, and I still want to Dive Terra, Shantotto, or Ashe.
Which means I should shoot for BRV/WIS. But the only ones of those for whom I have anything spectacular is Tyro and Onion. And Onion's Dive is half a year out, and I'm not sure how great Tyro's Dive is.
I could always wait and see if I get anything for Gogo VI.
edit:
Oh wait, the lower half, too. Hm...
edit:
BRV/DEX is plenty tempting, to dive Vaan. Considering the number of debuffs he can put on the enemy between his BSB and SSB, that damage-proportional-to-debuffs effect could be strong.
Wait, was it based on the number of unique debuffs applied, or just on the number of stats being effected?
edit:
Holy crap, I actually managed to run out of a 3* mote.
Well this was a productive fight! Seifer went down surprisingly easy compared to Rufus. With the rewards I have managed to finish off Lightning's and Fujin's Legend Sphere. Lightning's has obvious benefits that are slightly muted by the prevalence of party insta casts, but I ain't going to bitch about winning the relic draw lottery too many times. Fujin's will have the benefit of re-applying RWs, and shaving time off of Meltdown as appropriate. Helps with her BSB as well, but not as much due to reduced cast times. Pretty pleased with all 3 I have fully dived so far, and I am looking forward to finishing up Terra and going on to the next project.
My problem is that most of the people I'd like to dive want Spirit, too, while I'm still waiting to finish Y'shtola.
Yeah the only reason Fujin got the nod was because we have had a healthy number of Wisdom motes lately, and she doesn't need Spirit. Terra was the first character I started diving and is still staring at her LM2. A more balanced distribution would be super awesome.
Gigas 200 and 250 down with a mage team. The incoming damage was actually pretty manageable with just Wall, ProShell, back row, magic breakdance, and Multi Break (aside from that opening Thunderbolt, which oneshot Raines since Wall/Shellga dropped at the end of the 4th round on the 200 without me knowing). Healing was composed of Mog and Y'shtola throwing out instant C1s left and right.
DPS was definitely not a problem - Onion Knight, Raines, and Quistis were just blowing things up. If I had an additional RES break somewhere it would've been better, but it wasn't remotely necessary.
For the 300 CM, I think I'm going to go with a team of Ingus/Leon/Leila/Gordon/Relm and RW Cloud USB. I'm not sure it'll be enough damage, considering Ingus won't be able to really get that many attacks off and I have no synergy equipment, but he's my only source of earth damage.

Ingus BSB and RW Cloud USB should do crushing damage to the bosses. Check your math first, but it might be enough.
lol, obliterated the 3m cm with Agrias burst to light up the adds, Ramza shout chant, and Cid burst for the rest. If I had the OSB that burst would be so amazing, but still fun.

Best to use Cloud USB on Agrias or Cid?
Agrias uses the first Cloud USB to kill the adds. Cid gets the second to pound the boss with all 10 hits of his BSB once the adds are dead.

I 3-man CM'd that fight without SBs for any FFII chracter relying only on Ingus BSB, and Cloud USB RW, but also with Ramza's Chant. It was rough, and took me a great number of attempts to find the groove, but it's certainly possible. Darklyre, since it sounds like you have SBs for a few FFII characters, you probably don't need to go balls to the wall on damage like I did and can afford to take it a bit slower.
It's worth noting too that Cloud USB RW really works best with something like Chant or Zack's Wind Chain, because the 100% crit rate/damage limit break only lets you get an extra 2000-5000 out of most abilities and SBs per hit. It's the crit damage boost that you pair with it that makes it so broken. If you're not going to bring Ramza (which would mean taking Relm out), then you could probably get away with using a better RW, like Wall, or a second Ingus BSB.
Cloud USB has been working just fine for me with no crit damage boost. Obviously a crit damage boost makes it even better! But just by itself it's still +95% damage (or more, if you were running into the cap without it).
Has anyone here legend dived Cloud with USB and no en-wind? Thoughts?
I figure he can do about 200k in 30 seconds with 900 atk against 10k defense with TGCid RM, full legend dive and Omega Drive R3, without an entrust battery and in omni-resist conditions. Though it's problematic getting him to 900 atk in non-synergy (magicite); 789 is as far as I go with just Shout. Ok for level cap, but leaves some OD multipliernon the table.
Huh, there's a three-star ability coming with the new Type-0 event in JP. 20% MND for 25 seconds.
When's the last time they gave out a new 3*?
Probably when they introduced the Stone series of spells.
On the subject of the spell itself? Fffffuck yeah, I'll use that. It's ridiculously hard to stack MND buffs, so this will combine nicely with select Soul Breaks to make attack WHMs and BSB Medica commands useful.
Did a pull on VII-2 since I do need a few more pieces for CMs and the like. 2/11 with no rainbows. Cloud BSB2 and Tifa LMR. Neither was exactly on the list of stuff I wanted, but definitely going to help out my wind team I think. I have gotten 2 LMRs so far and have yet to get one I think is overly good, but I am not going to pass up a free 10 atk.
Cloud BSB2 comes with some serious pro-tips though. C1 apparently does more damage with higher attack! Who would have guessed! (Yes, I know how it works)
At the very least, the XIII banner doesn't have gunarms, hairpins, dolls, or blitzballs, so even the rubbish stuff could at least be usable by more than a handful of characters.
Ramza, shout with magic bd and full bd
TGC, burst flashing blade R3 and powerchain R3
Agrias, burst with R3 saints cross and guardbringer
Tyro, wall with multibreak and box step sarbande
Larsa with burst, shellga and ultra cure
RW: Cloud USB
I was running low on hones near the end, but ended up getting him. Agrias was hitting for 12k-20k with cloud RW -> burst, burst, burst. TGC would hit for up to 12k per hit with cloud USB and burst. That was a really large HP pool to chew through.
So for some reason, I decided to spend the extra mythril from this newcomer event on a pull from the VII CC 1 banner. I figured it had a lot of decent stuff, including stacking ATK buffs and powerful Fire stuff.
...gotta say, I'm not super jazzed about this result? I managed to not get any of the strong Support moves I was looking at, or Seph's burst. Pilot's Steel is the most obvious piece of Cid Mission fodder; I'll never use it over Shout unless I need to field all VII characters. Countertek has its niche, but without Synaptic Net Dive, it has to try and pull its weight solo. And until we have another fight like the Mandragoras or Lunar Baigan, Dispelga is not gonna be useful as a general technique. And I have other sources of Regenja. I can always have her play Entruster once her Legend Dive happens, but that's something everyone with no Shelke relics can do. The most generally useful item is the Shortbarrel. I could use Vincent alongside Terra to roast fire-weak enemies, in battles where I don't want to bring Locke for his imperil. OTOH, I should compare him and Shantotto. He can drop Enfired Meltdowns and Wrath up further shots of the SSB, but Shantotto has speedcast on her Burst commands and AOE on the Burst entry.
So, a piece of Cid Mission equipment, a situationally amazing technique that is outclassed by Raijin otherwise, and a Terra team partner option for when things just need to burn. That sound like a fair assessment of the results? Worst draw I ever did? No. Worth going from a 4 pull budget on Ultrabartz/Ultrashadow back to 3 pulls? Maybe not.
Then again, this was all basically free, thanks to the beginners campaign. So I'm not exactly broken up about it.
Tactics 250 down. That was a nasty slog - multiple S/Ls were involved, including the first run where I was less than 5k damage away from winning before everything went crazy. Went with a mage team, because that was pretty much the only way I could get AOE damage and mitigation going:
The trash was easy - everyone was in the back row, and with Wall/ProShell up incoming damage was minimal, especially once BSBs were up and everyone started chaincasting.
The boss was a different story. I first tried nuking down the boss, but the AOE kept taking me down. I eventually had to resort to having Nabaat and Raines AOE down the Archaeodaemons, then slowly grinding down the boss with OK/Raines while Nabaat kept things under control with her SSB. Even then, an unlucky Cyclops blew up Nabaat, and later Raines was hit with Petrify. I had to grind out the last 10% with OK and Mog's BSBs, with Y'shtola frantically throwing Asylum up over and over. I must've cast Wall at least five times during that fight.

Normal non-Ultra Cloud strat, brought the mages out to play given the Bio weakness and the existence of Quistis.

Onion Knight - Lifesiphon/Protectga, BSB, DMT
