I'm assuming it's not actually called 'Gears of Star Trek'...
No, It's simply listed as "Star Trek" and happens after the 2009 movie. But it is super weird for a Star Trek game to be a Gears-inspired cover shooter.
Harry Potter also took a similar approach a few years earlier, turning the wands into guns and making it a cover shooter like Gears.
That makes even less sense. I mean, I've never read the HP books, but from what I've seen of the movies cover would accomplish very little in wizard combat beyond maybe sneaking up on someone at the start.
Like setting aside the notion that making a purely action-oriented HP game seems like a poor use of the license, it should play somewhat more like Tribes or Dark Void or Zone of the Enders. Lots of fast-paced three-dimensional movement, and big flashy attacks that are either homing or do area damage.
@Antoshka is a Classhole of the highest order.
I get back from making myself some food to discover he had spilled XCOM2:War of the Chosen all over my library.
Huge huge huge thanks mate.
Lords of Magic: Special Edition is an old game which is like...halfway between real and turn based strategy where you play as a Lord managing an army and trying to defeat your enemies. I did not play this when I was younger, so I don't have nostalgia working in my favor, but....yeah. It's pretty difficult to tell what all is going on. I don't have it on Steam, but rather GOG, but I presume that everything applies to both - this definitely seems to need some manual diving to understand what anything is and how to use them. It doesn't have a learning curve like modern games, but rather a learning cliff. Expect some difficulty going into this if you didn't play as a kid.
GOG and I think Steam as well made the mistake of using the latest patch for the game rather than the stable patch that came before it. And it can really break some early game balance by making it really difficult on players. (think it would mostly affect you if you play the Chaos faction)
Lords of Magic was balls-hard even back in the day, and playing any faction other than Death (which is only unlocked after you've beaten the game once), can be a serious challenge no matter the faction or difficulty.
Unless you absolutely cheese the hell out of it. You can beat Death in like 3 turns with the right setup heh.

Which is not a very good game. But is one those games with letter as its achievement icons.
This lets you compose words using the achievement showcase of your Steam profile.

Okay, so about that Steam name. I'm an idiot and left one obvious option out of the poll (oops). So we're gonna run that poll again with all the correct choices this time. I'll give it a day or two to shake out. Here's the link to the poll.
The choices are:
Jackin' Jill
The Lusty Argonian Maid
Pixie
Last chance for a vote. I'll close this in a few hours probably.
Hm. I don't think I can really sit down and commit to playing a bunch of games for a team. Especially because I just now finished the things I was playing, Numenera and New'n'Tasty. But I might finish a game or two. Can I throw some points to whoever is losing if I do so, or something?
Its not something you have to force or anything, its not like "if i dont play 8 games in 3 weeks im letting people down". I usually only beat 1 or 2 games, because thats just how I play. Its just working together and friendship that makes the team, not who gets the most points or anything. If you want in and just beat 1 game thats absolutely fine, as long as you're having fun with a community as you do it.
It's hard to not feel at least a little like you should do something for the team, though.
@Drascin, I agree, but It's not too hard to put something on the board. Knock out some little gem like To the Moon in a few hours and boom, there you go. Plus Awesome CorriganX (tm) adds scavenger hunts and challenges so you can usually like screenshot a cactus and get another point.
I will be battling and once again letting me team down by being afk for over a week in the middle.
But It's super fun at whatever level you can contribute and the more people involved the more fun it gets.
Yeah, that's another thing, I'll be leaving on the 29th because we're going to London for a week or so.
But I guess if one or two games is enough to count, @CorriganX might as well sign me up, too. Let's check the list and see what I have in the backlog...
I should've expected this, but @big classy wasn't as defenseless as I might've wished to believe.
Thank you so very much! Urge to play Wildlands has been rising for a while, was just waiting for a sale on the steam version as an justification to not buy it right away.
Downloading this as we speak.

Just a heads up, I'll begin Poor Life Choices X-Com tommorow night at 9PM EST. I'll put a thread up for it around then. If you cant make the stream, I will be archiving them on youtube.
Yeah, I don't consider a game off the backlog just because the main quest is done, unless that's the only thing the game has to do. It's also about every sidequest and collectible.
Then again, Stabbity lives in Walla Walla, so that's probably another contributor to his success.
Edit: and honestly, looking at it that way, I probably only have 20% of Just Cause 2 done?
As another PNWer, Walla Walla bashing just does not get old. And I've never even been there! It's just one of those Washington towns that falls under "really more like Western Idaho"
which is still better than all of those states that are, you know, further east. Really, once you hit mountain time it's all zombies until the Atlantic.
I mean, if you like wine or biking, it's a fine town. But I don't drink alcohol and am not really into biking so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
We do have sweet onions, though. They're the best.
And that alone is enough to elevate Walla Walla over Renton or Auburn.
Also, @CorriganX please count me in for the backlog challenge!
Not sure if this was mentioned in the thread yet, friend of mine messaged me saying a game called Disc Jam is free to play this weekend, says it's way more fun than it has any right to be.

I guess I'll sign up for the backlog challenge, though I have a question?
If I've mostly beaten the Shovel Knight and Specter Knight campaigns, does the Plague Knight campaign count as a game by itself for the purpose of challenge eligibility?

Usually we do it as "If its a separate entry on steam it counts" but if its just the same game but different dlc or launches from the main menu etc. it doesnt count.

@Iolo Played a bunch more of Dungeon of the Endless, using your & @The Dude With Herpesadvice. Doing a lot better this time around (started with the nurse, Deena and the smuggler, Max), and it's really cool. Super frustrated I found 3 unlockable heroes on a single floor after I had a full party on my current run. Oh, and Ken (green mohawk crewmember) is a beast if you're using the "everyone operates major modules at chokepoints while one doorman explores" strat. He's tough, fast, and gets multiple bonuses for fighting alone if he has to.
@BladeX At this point, I think I'm going to save Dust and the Stanley Parable for the Backlog Challenge. Looking forward to them though.

Goddamnit it. COLLUSION I SWEAR. Thank you very much Pixie, this game looks super interesting and I can't wait to give it a shot. On Monday. When the Backlog challenge begins.

Can I sign up? I'm notoriously bad at these things, but I have a week left before I go back to work so hopefully I can knock out a couple games this time.

I don't always play a Viking but when I do I play Jotun.
Stay frosty my friends.
I'm presuming this means Playism/AGM will be doing a standalone PC/Steam version of just 25th Ward(if they have any sense).
