Deadlight is like Flashback from the SNES and Genesis days.
I played through Deadlight earlier this year and liked it a lot. There's one section of platforming that comes with soooo many deaths and would probably have been crazy frustrating if they hadn't been really good about placing checkpoints.
Also I really liked the music, enough to go looking for the soundtrack, and discovered that the publisher had decided to include the soundtrack in whole as a set of lossless audio files in the game folder. Classy touch!
Caveat: There was an issue where you didn't get sound in cutscenes - I can't remember if you got NO sound at all or just got background audio but no voice. To correct it, I had to hunt down a particular version of a bink driver from another installed Steam game and drop it into the Deadlight folder. There are instructions in the game's community forum if anyone runs into this.

I am super curious to see how Agents of Mayhem does. Volition has been doing their best to generate buzz for their new game, but there doesn't seem to be much excitement for it. That includes me, sadly, but I want it to be good!

You need the Xbox Accessories app (which requires Windows 10) and a USB cable, yeah. I'm not aware of any other way to update besides using an Xbox.
I had to update my controller for it to work properly, but that's when the S controller was fairly new, so it may already be factory updated since. It doesn't hurt to check though.
Good point, I had completely forgotten that firmware updates for controllers is a thing now. I was very surprised when my Xbox told me it needed to do that.
HOLY SHIT IT WORKS!
I only managed a few games of Rocket League as confirmation of workage. Also, it appears that no matter which controller I connect, the DPAD is hit-or-miss on being recognized. Not the end of the world, but something to consider.
Also, for whatever reason, Steam Link and Big Picture say that you can use a keyboard but not a controller for Nier. Which is....odd.
A bunch of games get flagged with that if there's absolutely anything in the game that won't work solely from a controller.
Only thing I can think for Nier is that it definitely needs a keyboard for configuring and updating the FAR mod that makes the game playable.
Not going to lie, I won't be too broken up if this fails if it means them falling back on SR and dropping the hero elements.
Concept doesn't do a whole lot for me in general but having to play premade characters is one of the things I'm not too happy about in Agents of Mayhem.

I think I kind of preferred 3's gameplay, looking back? The superpowers were nice and all but 3 really felt the smoothest of them all.
Plus, at one point,
you do get superpowers in 3 and it's a real "oh holy shit" moment
I play Saint's Row just so I can play as the toilet. Nothing cooler than riding on the back of a motorcycle (that a friend is driving) as a toilet dual wielding Uzis.

I think a lot of people have trouble getting excited on Volition releasing a third person shooter when the shooting in the SR games has not been terribly great. The previews sound like they've improved things on that front while working on AoM so I'm hopeful at least.
