@Antoshka We all know that Aussies are well versed in the wastelands, fighting aliens should be a breeze
So put me in.
"I know you've been online.... There are lots of people that don't have that voice, that makes them ask themselves if what they make is shit or not." [img][/img]
@Antoshka I'm down to get shot by aliens. I totally won't be a traitor on the inside working for small comforts in our new terrible post-invasion world.
If the four day battle to get my dryer working is any indication, I should just multiply every time estimate by 5x for work I do on this house. (Pro tip: Do not attempt to tie dryer hoses together using duct tape and packing tape. It doesn't work well, and pisses off the guy who has to undo your goose-y, lazy solution and fix it the right way.)
The capabilities of aluminum/aluminium tape for duct work cannot be underestimated. I have two rolls of the stuff at home.

It must be exhausting being you.
Has anyone played ARK since it left Early Access? I'm about to fire it up, but was curious people's thoughts on it's finished state compared to it previously.

They just released a Season pass, a day or two after it left Early Access. Apparently a new expansion coming this year and early next, in the vein of Scorched Earth.
This weekend I'll have to decide if I want to attempt to install some replacement parts to our water heater myself or not.
I THINK I can handle it, but I'm not very handy with these things. I'm less enthused about trying to do it while it's 110 degrees outside.
(The water heater is in a weird outside facing closet) Which I mean, who needs to heat their water when you're living on the surface of the sun.
Starting up XCOM 2 again is tempting, but I just started Yakuza Kiwami on PS4, still playing some Rock of Ages 2, and have a bunch of Final Fantasy 14 content to still go.
I've also kind of left Children of the Zodiarcs on the backburner. It started feeling a bit too grindy. I may be abandoning that for now.

Well, this is... unexpected, to say the least: earlier today, I received an email (via itch.io's mailer) about Confederate Express, being all like "yup, this game is coming, here are some details on the MacOS-only early version".
You might remember Confederate Express as being a Kickstarter project from 2014 that looked really good, collected just under $40k, and was soon revealed to be run by a couple of scammers. I backed it when it still seemed like a legit project, and while I was annoyed that scumbags unjustly got my money, I was upset that I wouldn't be able to play this game that - I thought - looked rad.
I don't know if those two are still involved with this thing or not, but I'm certainly not installing any version of this game until it's thoroughly vetted by braver people than me.
Gaming related: the GDQ folks are doing a Harvey benefit stream(s) this coming weekend. Check the GDQ thread for details.

so I just noticed RAID: World War II, basically a Payday 2 pseudo-sequel, is being released in a few weeks and is currently in a beta open to every Payday 2 owner (just boot up Payday 2 and click through on the main menu to start downloading it through Steam). It's only a 6.5gb download and seems to run on a wide swath of hardware so going to give it a download tonight. Seems like a perfect FNG candidate!
I've heard nothing about this. Anyone have any experience with it? Turn based fleet games has been one of the most extinct genres that I've been needing to scratch for decades. I think the last one I enjoyed was...The Grandest Fleet?
This looks to be the "plan out the turn, hit 'go' to watch your orders play out for a certain amount of time before the next turn" system that Combat Mission pioneered.
Well looks like Children of the Zodiarc just put out a balance patch. This sounds like it hits a lot of the things I had issues with.
Now I just need Prey to put their controller support back together again.
BALANCING
- Feature: Added an option that adjusts the levels of enemies in Story Mission to your party level to alleviate grinding. Available only in Normal Mode.
- Feature: Scaling of enemy levels is now set to average between your highest and lowest hero levels
- Tweak: Adjusted the way XP is given when using multiple cards in a row. Nahmi will no longer sky rocket in levels ahead of the other team members!
- Tweak: Adjusted the difficulty of Side Missions 2, 3, and 4
- Tweak: Adjusted the difficulty of some Skirmishes that were near-impossible to beat without 1 or 2 heroes dying

I'll fix it for you:
The Steam Link going on sale for $15 is ridiculous. I don't even have a real reason to pick one up (I don't really need to game in my living room), but I'm still thinking about grabbing one at that price just to mess around with it. Has anyone done any interesting hack/mod stuff with them yet?
According to SteamDB, $35 is the lowest it ever goes

I'm really tempted by that sale on the Steam Link, but I'd also need a powerline adapter, and then could I use a gen 1 Xbone controller with it? I'd probably need a dongle, and there's more money.
Sheesh.
Edit: Hmm, the store page says it supports a wired Xbox One controller. Hmm.

Hey guys! A reminder that tomorrow's FNG (at 9 pm eastern) will be Meadow for my charity drive incentive, The Running of the Badgers. Basically, we're going to get as big of a group together as possible and will roam around together as I take you to some of the neat places. I'm going to say right now though, that I'm not as prepared as I'd planned on being. This week has been an absolute whirlwind, both good and bad. But, we'll still find some neat places and have some fun! I'll post more details tomorrow. In the meantime, don't forget to install it!
The good part of the whirlwind if you are curious:
Meet Sprout!
She showed up in the family of a friend's yard last week and they couldn't take her in. I've been missing having a pet I can pet and had been considering adopting, so this was perfect timing for everyone. She's such a sweetheart - so friendly, constantly purring and crawling in your lap to take a nap.
A bit late @Antoshka, but please allow me to die horrifically in defense of Earth. I can't really game much myself right now, so it would be nice to live vicariously though your game.
I think that the internet has been for years on the path to creating what is essentially an electronic Necronomicon: A collection of blasphemous unrealities so perverse that to even glimpse at its contents, if but for a moment, is to irrevocably forfeit a portion of your sanity.

So, how does the Link work, exactly? I mean, my wife and I both have laptops, so getting an HDMI cord to plug into the TV wouldn't be hard, but we might be moving into a larger space very soon.
What type of set-up would demand the use of a Steam Link?

So I finally get on this evening to be immediately ambushed by @Isorn , who considers it their civic duty to drop a code upon me and decrease my wishlist by a number of one.
Many thanks for Pickers! Given the fact I've been using old episodes of Pawn Stars and American Pickers to fall asleep to lately, this is right up my current alley!

In my case, I have my computer downstairs, and my Steam Link hooked to my TV upstairs, so I can play games from my couch on a bigger screen.

Mother found apartment that is nice and affordable, must undercut the other guy we saw walking out.
Just learning that might not have actually sold the house.
