I just now noticed that Magic rules text uses gendered pronouns when referring to (non-Ashiok) planeswalkers. Usually they are self-referential, like Gideon's preventing damage to himself so I kind of glossed over it, but Liliana's Defeat specifically calls out "her controller" and isn't itself a Liliana card so it caught my eye (the other Defeats' effects are all bonuses for you instead of penalties for your opponent).

Legendary creatures always use their actual card name for self-reference. If there's a second one and not a ton of space, they might use a shortened name (e.g., Anya, Merciless Angel, Brimaz, or the Oracle text on Axelrod Gunnarson) but never a pronoun other than "it" ("put X counters on it" not "put X counters on him/her").

yeah this was a cool tidbit on the Origins transforming planeswalkers, that they used the pronouns on the creature side.

There isn't really enough good stuff to justify making a Desert themed EDH deck.

Hazezon would be the best thematically, Gitrog has the most synergy.(though he lives in a swamp. Tiddalik was a frog though and that is on the money flavourwise.

Think I'll probably skip the prerelease - buying both monument and cycling was not a zero amount of my budget, and from a value standpoint I would almost certainly be playing for the privilege of at most $10 of cards and a small sealed tournament, which, eh?

I think I'm passing on the prerelease as well. I haven't so much as looked at my cards since Louisville. Not sure why but it's like the urge has died down.

I've been brewing a bunch but haven't been able to muster the energy to actually go out and play since. Will probably do at least one prerelease though, the store I go to for that's easier to get to than the one I play standard at.

Woo baited out a 4 for 1 with Bontu's Last Reckoning, I do love prereleases. Didn't get anything amazing but I'm playing a very serviceable black green with a bunch of good value, Majestic Myriarch, Overcome, two of the GB spiders, etc.

Lost a round to an opponent with a turn 5 Glorybringer all 3 games. That card is fucking miserable to lose to in a format where all the removal is sorcery speed.
