Add Dark Souls invasions into the game, where you just randomly take control of the aliens on someone else's mission.

...fuck. I would do this a lot.

    And I would play offline.

Honestly as neat as multiplayer element s would be, I'd rather a focus on single player content

One-off micro transactions to increase accuracy it is.
1 dollar = 5% accuracy boost sound good to you? Obviously you can stack it, or you could get the 30% boost for 5 dollars (best value!)

I wonder if it might be their own version of Long War 2 since they told the modders not to bother updating LW2 for WoTC.

That's just pure speculation on my end, I'm not tied to any particular theory at the moment.

They did not do this. They stopped paying the LW2 modders once their mod was finished and the LW2 modders were working on their own game.

Kinda, they talked to Firaxis about updating LW2 for WoTC and Firaxis said "No thanks".

That's so evil. The benefit of the 30% boost will probably be cancelled out by people rushing to use the boost.

Nice mod just got released, adding 70 new hairstyles for women.

The same authors are also working on a set for males.

Now if only someone added to the game more faces...

There is reason to believe that PAX AU will be the unveil for XCOM 2:TLE, as it's the host for EB Expo and 2k has shown there before.

You don't think it has to do with the console release last week?

I mean, I'd be happier than anyone with a new reveal....

Hardly, with all the QA updates to a new, unrevealed DLC. Edit: It's also a console launch, they wouldn't need review builds on PC for that.

no, looking down the list, it is a *ton* of weapon and character packs.

people like playing pretty pretty princess, but I haven't really seen any overhaul mods, save long war and that still holds the same story beats of the XCOM2 game.

EMERGENT NARRATIVE happened at the Blacksite tonight.
So I have these two soldiers, Moletta and Wilson. Moletta's a high-stealth shotgun-wielding weapon of mass destruction. Wilson is the more versatile guy I send along with her to watch her back and occasionally loan her his turn. They're bondmates.

We went out to the Blacksite and we took it slow. Crept up using a Reaper and Moletta's concealment abilities to let a sniper clear most stuff out, with a little help from a Sentinel Overwatch specialist. As soon as the sniper revealed herself, the Warlock appeared on the other side of the map. Not a big deal, since he just kept sending zombies on a reliable timer that the sniper and overwatch specialist could handle by themselves. Worked our way up to the vial building and cleared it out. There was, for some reason, a pod of 3 sectoids parked outside the back window, so I kinda had to shuffle my back-lines to take care of them.

Just as I was finishing up with the sectoids, the Warlock showed up in person and summoned a Priest. It was here that my troubles truly began, because I was trying to preserve at least one stealth unit for the post-vial reinforcements. The Priest put my overwatch specialist into stasis, and the Warlock mind-controlled Wilson.

It was about this time that I noticed I had apparently forgotten to give Wilson any armor, because he had a total of 4 HP. I was sure I wouldn't be able to kill the Warlock this turn, and I really didn't want Wilson turning his aim on any of my other guys and starting a panic spiral, so I gave serious thought to killing him.
Ultimately, I decided not to do that, and roll the dice on Wilson missing/not doing enough damage to kill anybody, so I ran Moletta out with her shotgun of doom...only to discover that there was a turret with a clear line of sight to her no-cover position. Considered reneging on the plan and killing Wilson after all.
Took the shot on the Warlock with Moletta, and rolled the exact crit I needed to finish him off, removing Wilson's mind control. Then, took a shot with the poorly-positioned sniper to blow up some volatile scenery which was just close enough to the building to destroy the turret's perch, protecting Moletta from certain injury and possible death.
Got back to the Avenger, only to discover that Wilson, the guy whose mind had been violently invaded and seized, whose own commander and friends had nearly executed him out of pragmatism? That guy? He was fine with how things turned out. A little tired, but not shaken or anything.

His bondmate Moletta, on the other hand, is fully shaken and is refusing to go on another mission for a while.

I like to think that years from now, they'll look back on the Blacksite as their first date.

XCOM: Enemy Unknown turns six years old on October 9. Celebration starts this Thursday at 8pm CET / 3pm ET / 12pm ET with the first of in a series of XCOM retrospective livestreams. Join the devs at https://2kgam.es/2yTViuj! We may even have a few surprises to come, Commander.

It is happening! They will announce a new DLC!

Or I will be terribly dissapointed, one of the two.

I'm running a facility mission because the Avatar countdown started. It occurs to me that I never actually got this far after Alien Rulers came out, due to busy schedule/other games coming out, so I don't think I've actually faced off against any of them. I don't have a Frost Bomb, I heard those are important.

I moved forward enough to spot the first 2 pods. They each have 2 MECs. I save/exited and went to bed. Today, sitting at work, I realize: I don't think I brought any hackers.

Stay tuned for GOOD NEWS, EVERYONE!

I see Terror From the Deep alternately derided and praised on the Internet. I never played it myself (just the base X-Com), so I'm curious: What's the deal? I think the folks in this thread generally talk about it with affection; is that because it did something genuinely interesting/different/new, or is it more because it's kind of goofy and dopey and it's nice to think about things you played ::checks calendar:: holy-moly nearly a quarter of a century ago?

TFTD had a good theme, but it was mostly just a reskin of the original, with a number of real obnoxious bullshit thrown in. Like lobstermen that are nigh-immune to anything but clunky melee attacks. Or cruise ship terror missions where half the map was closets that enemies would hide in and also you can't use your fancy new guns because fuck you and also they're two-part missions. Or the tech tree being a lot more convoluted and by the way you can lock yourself out of being able to complete the game if you research some things in the wrong order. Stuff like that.
