Played some evolve shaman tonight and man, the number of times that "kill all 1 mana spells" guy would have fucked be coming down on curve was too high for my liking.
This is a pretty depressing conversation to read as someone who just came back to the game and tried out Jade Druid and was totally stoked by it.
I know I'm not really the target demographic here, it's not like I knew what I was doing, but still...
I guess it's not a huge deal, the other benefit of coming into a completely new meta is that there are a bunch of decks to try. Although I did craft Aya, so...
Edit: I suppose I should ask if there are any other common decks right now I should avoid building because people will hate me for playing them, before I craft a legendary for Murloc Paladin or something and it turns out Day9 has a two minute long video about people who play Murloc Paladin.
Day9 has this funny thing about Jade Druid players that gets posted here every now and then. It's not really mean spirited or anything, but it is amusing.
But here's the thing. I saw Day9 playing Jade Druid just the other day.
Jade Druid is fine. It's a polarizing deck but who cares. Play what you like.
I played Jade Elemental Rogue last night and went straight from 18 to 13 on a win streak. Nobody could stop it. Then for some reason I crafted Sherazin, who maybe doesn't quite fit, and lost 2 games. Hm.

Don't craft stuff right before an expac!! Save yo dust!

Funny, I'm doing a Jade Rogue thing myself. The fights with Jade Druid (which seems to be very popular atm) have been interesting. One game was reduced to how many Vilespines I was able to get.
5. The answer was 5 that game. Won that one.

I know pre-expac crafting is dumb! But I've wanted Sherazin for a while, and I think I'm gonna be trying to make him work in a Rogue Jade Deathrattle deck in KFT. Plus, I feel like I have dust to burn right now.
I would have no issues with jade Druid if either auctioneer didn't exist, or if the 3 idols shuffled into the deck didn't have the "choose one", only the summon a X/X jade golem. Summoning 10+ mana worth of stats once a turn? Sure, okay. Summoning 6 10+ every turn for the rest of the game while you completely avoid the overdraw mechanic? Nah, that feels shitty to play against even if statistically it doesn't go off all that often.
I kinda hope auctioneer gets hall of famed, it's up there with iceblock or alex is just feeling bad to play against at times
I still think the answer to Jade Druid was to just nerf Jade Idol.
Straight up there's a really easy way to do it. Ready?
Jade Idol
1 Mana
Summon a Jade Golem. Shuffle a Jade Statue into your deck.
Whoa hold on, what's a Jade Statue?
Jade Statue
1 Mana
Summon a Jade Golem.
Boom. No more infinity Jade Golems.
The problem of Jade Idol for most people, I feel, is the fact that Jade Druid can never run out of threats. You can go infinite and keep shuffling and Control decks can't outlast it. All Jade Druid has to do is not die and then get to the bottom of their deck and slam Gadgetzan+Jade Idol and start that train.
So this change puts a hard cap on Jades, still kinda retains the flavor of Jade Idol. No longer a Choose One, either.
I dunno that's just an idea, the other idea is literally just break Jade Idol's kneecaps and make it so that it's just a 1 mana spell "Summon a Jade Golem."
Regardless of winrate Jade Druid/Jade Idol (let's be real the problem isn't Jade Druid as a deck it's Jade Idol) is still incredibly frustrating to play against. It has a 70% winrate vs Taunt Warrior! That's ridiculous! Slow decks cannot win because you simply cannot pressure them enough and they can afford to play slow enough to start up the Auctioneer Train and then you're done. Taunt Warrior can win vs Jade Rogue/Shaman. It's tough! But absolutely doable, and those matchups are certainly not 70/30s.
Skulking Geist is rather heavy-handed, and while it's a nice tech card, I'm not sure it was the right choice here.
Very unpopular opinion but ... no it's not. At least it's no more ridiculous than the 70% winrate an agro druid faces against a Control Warrior or Aggro Paladin has in favor of both Ramp Druid and Jade Druid.
These 70% numbers are all over the place and I believe (possibly incorrectly) have existed from the beginning. Some decks just hard counter a bunch of other decks. What I think "feels bad" to Control Players is that the "Long Game" is being used against them when it comes to Jade Druid. But this isn't that much different than a Taunt/Control Warrior flooding the board with taunts and making my token Druid feel like I should have just scooped at the start.
It's just displayed differently.
This will continue to exist in this game because, unlike say Magic, there is no "Sideboard" for teching cards in after a loss to a deck that you have a bad matchup in. The current format is similar to Magic not allowing sideboards and just playing a single game and moving around the room. Yeah, those winrates are going to be a LOT more heavy handed in a situation like that.
Tournaments where people bring different decks in this game is fantastic because it serves that purpose and the only way to ever fix this in Hearthstone is to do the same on the ladder. Even if you just took 2 decks each game and it was "Beat Each Deck" (aka just a best of 3), this would balance out things a bit as then it would become "Which classes do you play together to shore up the weakness in your deck and which deck do you put forward first?"
And for what it's worth, the issue with Jade Idol is mostly 80% Auctioneer. He's letting you cycle so much. Even spells like the new Ultimate Devistation for Druid is a 10 mana spell and though you get to draw 5 cards, you don't get to play any of them without an Innervate. Auctioneer needs to go. Rogue and Pros may love it, but it's a toxic card since, I believe anyway, that it probably keeps the rogue from Growing too much since it's always in the background, warping the class. Killing it would make Rogue weaker but then they could focus on shoring up those weaknesses with other cards instead of relying on this one.
Again, these are just my opinions. I may completely be off the mark.
kinda into the divine shield stuff but I wonder if it's enough to make it a reliable approach. it's just difficult to know when/how many shields you can really hold onto. but it's nice to see more ways to try and make it work.
edit2 - eternal servitude seems like a beastly combo enabler with velen. fairly reliable and you might be able to make a deck that just about guarantees it. especially since you'd run two and could maybe discover more. gonna be sick, I'll play some combo priet finally.
edit3 - I like the rogue deathknight holy cow. and I do like what I'm seeing with weapons. that poisonous weapon spellis underrated but needs the right deck.
edit4 - the shaman cards are just silliness. frozen frozen frozen to the point that it feels like it has to be good and then the deathknight is at least gonna be annoying. I don't love evolve personally but the heals are a pain. that's the part that matters to me and like I said, annoying. but these are all between interesting and good as far as I cana tell, I feel like they put in enough synergy that it'll be usable if not great. looking forward to playing it. corpsetaker is also gonna be gross if you run just al akir?
Someone needs to photoshop normal thrall and DK thrall onto a Frozen poster, with doom hammer in place of Olaf.
So apparently with the last patch there were some people that ended up actually having their epic/legendary clock affected in a negative way and to correct that issue Blizzard is adding 2000 dust to those accounts. I was one of them and they notified me by email.
well that explains that
I would like those 10 packs back though

The fact that cost discounts come into scope doesn't really say anything either way, though?
Things like Atiesh take into account the cost modifications of a spell. No idea about this though.
Sorry if I wasn't clear, I wasn't saying discounts do come into play. I was saying that that goes either way, that if increases cause it to dodge the tech card, then logically discounts would bring them into the target range.

I don't think that there's any deck that's universally liked, only decks that people haven't played against enough to hate.
LOL!
I started playing fresh on NA just because of the free arena tickets. Got this gem while doing a daily with basically no cards

That turtle guy was a 3-6 by the time I dropped him on turn 3 vs an aggro shaman.
Granted, doing it in wild with brann to get double taunts is also hilarious.

Can't cast evolve if I've destroyed every 1 mana cost spell in your deck.

I could claim I'm technically more correct because I specified spells, but the correct answer is that I'm dumb and can't read apparently.
... which had a deathwing dragonlord
which then dropped Onyxia, who's all like "you dare challenge the daughter of deathwing?" (*snaps fingers 3 times*)

this is apparently a big issue a ton of people are reporting
Curious question. Let's say there is that new minion on the board that makes all spells cost 2 more.
Will Geist still hit Evolve/Jade Idol that's in hand? Like does it check the CURRENT cost or it's base?
