I thought that when a lead survivor matches the job, she gets double her points?
And when a survivor matches the lead's mentality, they get a 25% bonus?
They are rough estimates though...
I think the biggest thing to farm (for me) at the moment are those Drops of Rain.
Yeah, I have a legendary hero, some legendary weapons, and a legendary defender.
Two-starring them requires 20 drops, three starting requires 40 drops.
But my mythic lead survivers needs 24 drops/ 48 drops, and that is a LOT!
Currently slowly making my way through the 2nd skill tree; I've passed the 20 nodes requirement, so now I'm opening up the other survivor slots and backpack upgrades. And as soon as I hit 40 I am going to get to skill tree 3 (and hopefully get 3 points per level up)...
I need to dig further regarding survivor squads, but Lead survivor rarity plays a big part in the personality boost.
A green lead survivor barely gives any boost to matched personalities, but the mythic EMT lead I have that is job matched is boosting a green personality matched survivor at 5 base power to 11 power.
I'm sure my blue lead gives a heafty boost as well, but he is meant for the Think tank, and the two orange survivors I have matched with him are fair to middling in the power boost in the Alpha Fire team because by raw power alone, they beat out anything else I could slot in the Alpha Fire Team
Oh hey, I got a mini llama... *bang* silver mini, gives me a green and a bunch of greys.
ok. slot what I can into the collection book. Oh hey, level up the book to 12. gives me an upgrade llama.
is this game decent? I have a $20 off coupon for it from Epic. I keep reading it is a huge money-grab with a nasty cash shop scheme. What are PA's thoughts? I've been told this about other games and it hasn't been true, so rather hear it from people actually playing the game.
which exp bar. commander exp you should still be getting at a good clip (~1 level / 1-2 missions, depending on daily exp and other boosts)
Shameful pursuits and utterly stupid opinions

I am enjoying this a lot, by the way. I am overpowered right now, but presumably that will level out as I finish story missions.
Sadly as soon as I saw the grind/cash shop shit coming it killed my desire to play the game entirely. There's not nearly enough game for how much cashgrab they're attempting.
Dragon Slash is so good guys!
I just had a mission where 95% of the husks had to pass a tile wide gap in a hill to get to the balloon.. I could just hole up right there and leap forward and destroy whole waves, anything that survived me got gunned down by my team before I could turn around.
It helps I have stacked my survivor teams in such a way as to have 100 resistance.. which should mean 100% bonus energy regen speed?
Dragon Scorch is the best ninja imo. He gets great dragon slash buffs, and the shadow ability makes so much of a difference once you get in and out in later stages. The sword focused ones with stacking damage is good, but you take SO MUCH damage if you stay in there. I think its much better to have Dragon Scorch and then slash in and get out asap instead of staying in trying to fight in later stages.

Is that Skirmisher Edge? I did pull the legendary version of him.
edit: ah, different ninja.
edit2: Skirmisher Edge is more of a throwing star/Dragon Slash guy, he also gets the 3 tiles wide/persistent AOE Dragon Slash skills, and a bunch of throwing star stuff.
Im really wondering why they gave melee skills to hank.
The bull rush i understand, that is downright useful to clean off every husk in your rush line and if you pin husks to a wall you do good damage and stun them.
But he is meant to be at the defense points, ready to do some ad hoc defense and repairs. Should have given him something shooter worthy.
I'm seeing this get a bad wrap but my friends who aren't big into gaming love it. I think the minecraft feel of the resource gathering and the fact that you can go nuts building is a big draw. They love that they can sort of do their own thing while I hold down the fort and help them out, at least on the early levels
I wish enemies bodies stayed, they dissapewr way too fast, I wanna see zombie bits everywhere piling up
Also I wish there was a way to have like a community home base, where everyone of your friends could drop in and work on it without a need for a host.
Also I wish survivors physically hung around your base. I'd also recommend the developers lean into more cosmetic stuff for bases, I feel like that's where the audience is going to be at mentally with this
If any one can help me out tomorrow evening GMT with the last 2/3 siphon it be appreciated. Spent the good part of 4 hours getting so close to have some one in each team ninja the siphon.
Really ruining the game for me....it's infuriating.
The heros have two different icons under their portrait. The left one is Support, the right one is tactical. Slotting them into the right part of your squad bonus area is important. For the tactical bonus your MAIN hero will need to be 2star+ not the hero you want the bonus from.
Air strike: If you right click you can change the orientation of your airstrike from a cluster to a wide line.
Phase shift from outlanders will cancel your falling damage.
To break a defensive piece you've placed you can edit it to the smallest version you can, then hit it. Since switching the orientation of the pieces resets their health, when you start hitting it it will have much lower health and you can out damage the health regen.

It was pretty galling to have repeated two mission types by the 5th main quest. Game's fun though.
Added my name to the list. I'm only on ps4 and playtimes can be random.
I'm really enjoying the game so far. I see what people mean by cash grabs, although it's not really required from what I can see if people really want to throw money at them why not. I got the standard founders pack and that's all I am putting into it. I do think there needs to be either a better tutorial or even an encyclopedia type guide where you can read more detailed guide on the actual mechanics and info on what stats mean. It took me a while before I figured out what tech/fortitude etc actually even does.
Someone mentioned cosmetic stuff. I know the tier 1 stuff looks fugly but the tier 3 upgrades look pretty rad for all the materials imo.
I think a guild type system could be really cool with a joint stormshield base that could be built and expanded on with donated materials. have things like epic husk raids that can be triggered for better loot rewards and guild expansions.
I would call Stonewood Storm Shield 8 already an epic husk raid
And holy shit, the "Six Mi utes" mission in Plankerton is made to separate the kids from the adults
So you have to find a central base, build defenses around it, and then activate it. This will result in SEE-bots appearing, which you have to go to quickly because they get immediately beaten up by zombies. As soon as you get to the SEE-bot you best wall it in, and when you activate it, you have to defend in for 1-1.5 minutes. You will get swarmed by enemies who spawn extremely close to the SEE-bot. See that you build a roof because Lobbers will be constantly spawning. When the SEE-bot has finished scanning, it will reveal two things on the map that you need to get. Getting those kodules will result in them being installed in your base. You need 8 modules.
But wait! Did I forget to mention that your base gets attacked regularly by a bunch of zombies more or less every 4 minutes?
So it's a defense mission where a group has to split off to go defend little robots.
It's very very tough and infuriating...
Furthermore, there are BluGlo siphons on the map which you totally don't need (it's also a build defenses-activate-defend mechanic there).
So if you're in a group with random people, one might be harvesting, one might be doing the BluGlo thing, one might be defending the main base and one might be trying to fight off enemies of the SEE-bot. Which means you will fail horribly.
I think as soon as the game gives you missions in the 23+ areas, be ready to go with a good group, and hope your heroes and weapons are 2-starred, because the number of enemies goes up drastically.
I've had it many times in the mission above that a spawn of zombies would be something like 2 Cyclopses, 4-5 Lobbers, 4-5 Baseball Zombies, a group of little zombies, and a bunch of regular husks...
if people are off doing bluglo siphons it is probably for a quest (there is one in plankerton where you have to fully complete 3, iirc)
it is usually best to suck it up and do it with them if they want to do it before the combat starts
repair the shelter is probably the hardest mission type i've run into thus far because people often do dumb stuff instead of coming back to defend the shelter during raids
i feel like lots of people don't realize you can see and find hidden caches without using SEEbot, given by how often i've found untouched caches right next to where people are. you should be scouring the map during your down time between SEEbot spawns and raids trying to get those caches - if you act fast you can do it with only one raid and then the final fight
i got two storm shield defense missions ready to go for anyone who wants to join Plankerton 2 and Stonewood 7, so PL 19ish? Or it's for anyone who wants to join, just might be a li'l painful if you're too underlevel though
edit: i'm on pc
i have no idea if there's cross-platform play on this

I did the repair the shelter mission yesterday for the first time. And here comes my biggest problem out of everything so far. The team did a very good job completing the mission, gaining most of the medals and whatnot for the higher chest loot. It was tough but we managed and I was very excited to get my rewards.

And now for the complete buzzkill of logging back in to a level 1 reward chest. The lack of any system to preserve mission progress from lockups disconnects etc is one of the worst things right now. Spending craploads of materials time and effort to have something mess up and you come back to a level 1 chest is such a buzzkill.
On another note I'm running out of silver for my blue assault rifle so im going to need to try that economy option for weapon use.
There's so much more they could do with the whole survivor system other than just have them as passive buffbots.
Star Trek Online has its pretty excellent Duty Officer system (aka "doffs"). You have a bunch of officers with personalities and modifiers, and you send them out on away missions, where the missions themselves have various modifiers, and the personalities of your doff can increase or decreace the chance of success based on the mission modifiers. Some missions would have a doff that's Diplomatic give you a bonus, while an angry klingon with Impulsive would give a malus.
@Beefjerky other people have reported this (on dc and spillover above tier 7), it may show the low tier chest but still provide the loot scaled to the correct tier.
If they are going to have durability in then I wish they would make guns that dropped useful like in BotW. Faster breaking weapons but each of them actually useful. I'm already at the point where I don't even bother looking at the weapons that drop, regardless of rarity.
