It feels like my hero library is very bare. I have a couple blue heroes who aren't great, and then a bunch of green heroes, and I'm not sure if I should be wasting xp on any of them. Is the people llama the only way to unlock new heroes?

Like, this is all I have after opening all of the founders llamas and two people llamas, and recycling a few duplicate greens.

Looks pretty similar to my stable. :bigfrown:

I hope they do a Hero Llama soon. I have a whole bunch of funbucks that I'd pour into that one.

Blue heroes are worth leveling up. I am getting my blue base hank to 30 unless something else thats better comes along.

We'll know more when we can get a good look at transform abilities.

Save your greens right now for the secondary abilities and what they can do for your stats right now. Dont level them.

Anyone who likes a blue quality hero, but is unsure if it's worth spending exp on (fingers crossed for that purple/orange drop), you can look in the collection book and use the preview feature, or whatever it's called, to see what you're "missing out on" from the last quality level(s).

Well at a minimum you're missing out on the extra levels and stats from the last levels, right? I would think that's significant.

I'm probably going to at least get my Jess (green) to 8 just so I have an outlander with Keen Eye. I was kind of salty when I leveled my Shock Specialist AC without realizing the "find treasure" thing was a perk he didn't have. whoops.

Man, Storm Shield 5 solo is no joke. That's the one with two of the satellite structures installed.

So far I have not received any visitors for help with these missions, even though I check the box that says to search. Sad all day.

I like that the Storm Shield defense missions absolutely require traps, and lots of them. On the general missions mooks rarely even reach the forts.

Also I got my first Mythic today! A Lead Gadgeteer. Unfortunately I have to get right to the end of a Tier 2 skill branch to use him and I'm only just coming to the end of Tier 1 :(

You get 90% of the xp spent plus a flat bonus based on rarity when you retire a hero or recycle a schematic.

Leveling an uncommon schematic to level 10 costs a total of 6750 XP. When you recycle it, you are refunded 6075 for the invested exp plus 400 for the schematic itself. Recycling that weapon only loses 275 exp.

Heroes work on the same system. I believe it takes a bit more to level them, but the loss is really minimal overall.

    Spend your exp.

There were Hero ones in alpha. While I always qualify it may be different, enough things are the same that I don't doubt that Hero llamas and Survivor llamas exist and will eventually show up.

My personal hesitation about going past 10/evolving is about Drops. I know you can be selective with missions and farm them, but I'm not a huge fan of how many things require them atm.

The only thing I probably wouldn't evolve absolutely willy nilly is survivors, because even assuming you don't evolve any before you get your squads set with rare/epic/legendary survivors (and subsequently assuming you never replace any), you still need to evolve sixty fucking four of them, 3-5 times each.

Heroes, traps, and weapons are small potatoes. Survivors are the true resource sink in this game.

Granted, but I'm stuck at work for the next 3 hours and 29 minutes as of the time of this post. Assuming I could teleport home instantly (which isn't the case; I rode my bicycle to work today, so add another 20 to 25 minutes for my commute), I'll still miss it. But thanks for thinking of me!

Which actually begs the question: what time do things reset in this game? For example, what time does the daily reward reset? What time does the daily llama change?

Not that its much of a consolation, but the only stats I'm seeing as truly vital are offense and tech. Dont get me wrong, you don't want a glass cannon, but through superior positioning, and fort building, you can negate most of the potential of taking damage.

You can't get out of being gated for dealing damage however, because many of the higher leveled zeds are pretty bullet spongy, and if you spend more than a couple seconds on any one of them aside from bosses, you are gonna have a bad time by din of just being crushed by all the HP being thrown at your base and you.

I havent' seen it yet, but thank god none of the zeds have a truly instagib'ing ability. There are no fast rocket spams or laser snipers. The baseball throw is easily dodged and the lobbers arc has a fairly large hang time. Even the grabber than can instagib makes it very obvious and is very slow in the pursuit of the grapple.

the zeds i think can go eat a dick are the propane tossers and the charger. they just nuke whatever fortification is in place from 100% to 0% in nothing flat.

Actually, I look in the collection book to see which hero rarity is the lowest, and might level it up to 2 starts for the Support/Tactical bonus.

For example, when I got a purple Recon Scout I stuffed my blue one (lowest rarity) in my collection; a bit later I was really lucky and got a legendary Recon Sout, and the purple one went into the book.

But my Recon Scout has the abilities to allow her to get 3+6=9% chance on double loot, which is great! However, if I still had another Recon Scout, I could level that up to 2 stars and slot it in the Tactical slot for an extra 3% more chance, bringing it up to 12%.

Of course I haven't seen a ble Recon Scout any more

But yeah, when levelling heroes for Support/Tactical purposes, you want the lowest rarity as they are cheapest to level. I'd rather spend 5 or 7 Drops of Rain than 20 to get them to 2 stars...

I thought the Support and Tactical support abilities were tied to the specific role, the 3% on the recon scout looks like it's support only?

And it's the slotted main hero being star level 2 or higher to be able to use the tactical ability, the hero in the tactical operative slot doesn't need to be star level 2 for the ability to work.

What should I be doing with excess crafting materials? I seem to end up with a ton of gray crafting mats from trees and rocks, not quite sure if I should be tossing it to avoid clogging up inventory or what.

Traps stack to 20, so you can 'compress' some of your materials by pre-crafting things you expect to use in the future. For example, a blue retractable floor spikes trap costs 10 nuts and bolts, 3 rough ore, and 2 rusty mechanical parts, so making a full stack will use about two stacks of nuts and bolts, and a bit over and under half a stack of rough ore and rusty mechanical parts, respectively.

There are some materials that don't seem to get used much, though. For example, flower petals. It's good to keep a stack, in case you need healing pads or whatever else uses them, but I don't carry more than that.

I've been tossing stacks of stones and planks away. Unless later iterations of traps require significantly more of them, I expect that trend to continue.
I did this to save backpack slots and I'm now regretting it. I've started upgrading and using traps and now my main bottleneck is planks and rough stones. Nut&bolts is easier to farm than the other stuff it seems.

    Really? Damn...*activates hoard mode*
Yeah, most of the wall traps (all but the dynamo) and half of the floor ones require some amount of planks. A bunch of melee weapons do too, as well as some guns (at least shotguns).

got 12 fucking xp cards out of it... no people or schematics... just fucking xp

I unlocked the same llama last night, it does mention it's an xp llama for about half a second on screen.

I upgraded to the 60 dollar tier.. and oh yay, all the bonus guns are now sitting in my storm shield storage taking up slots.. I thought the bonus 50 slots included space in the storm shield.. not only space for blueprints and survivors

I think I'm ready for Storm Shield 6.. got my base built up but I was too tired to make the attempt before bed, I'll probably do it tonight after work around ~7pm EST if anyone wishes to join me for some sweet sweet mini llamas.

I need to find more directional player jump pads, that speed boost is wonderful. I've only got one right now, placed by my storm shield so I can jump from there to any of my amplifiers.. and beyond.. thanks to the terrifying wonders of double jump.

Got a 2nd rare Hero out of my founder llama last night, it gave me a choice between Base Kyle or Assassin Sarah, I grabbed Kyle.. because I already have Brawler Luna, and Kyle is good for boosting my HP/Shields while slotted for support.
