Do they just store one texture in 4k, then downscale it for everything else? Or have a bunch of different files for each resolution?
Because if they're separate, I wonder if you could just delete all the texture resolutions you won't be using. 4k is lovely, but I don't have a screen that could handle it, even if my graphics card could (which it can't).

They might use multiple resolutions for LoD, so removing textures might not work out.

That mobile XV looks great. I'll at least check out the first free chapter.
If they put the mobile version of FFXV on Switch I would gladly purchase it and re-play the whole thing. The clean art style and fixed camera means I can actually understand what's going on during battle.
The gameplay in FF12 is fun but just like the original version of the game I just can't get into whatever the plot is supposed to be. It seems so trite and pointless. Along with all six protagonists. And all the NPCs except Larsa.
I love the world concept, though, and how the game fits into it. I just think FF12 has massive pacing issues with the plot, which is boring anyway.
The install size for FFXV on PC was apparently a "communications error".
No confirmation what the actual size will be.
Translation: "It was totally intentional but the reaction has made us go back to figure out how to do compression. We'll let you know the new size when we know it."

Am I being too harsh?
See, for me 12 has my favorite story because it feels the most grounded. A small border nation wedged between 2 larger powers suffers political turmoil as each uses it to further their own agenda. Most villains/antagonists are various shades of grey instead of mustache twirling villains, and even the big bad comes across as intelligent and articulate most of the time.
I could have done with less Vann and Penelo, but audience surrogate is a time honored trope and jrpg's gonna jrpg.
It's also the one that feels like it has the most "alive" locations, particularly Rabanastre. Most FF's feel like something I'm passing through on a mad rush to accomplish x/y/z and for the most part only exist as a place to rest and buy stuff. I feel like 12 did the best job of giving me a sense that this is a place that people live and exist, and was here before I got here and will persist after I have passed. ( I understand this is a technical / time / storytelling limitation, and every developer struggles with it, I just feel like 12 did the best job of creating the feeling.)
I find it roughly analogous to Poland and it's history of getting battered by Austria/Germany and Russo/USSR. I particularly enjoy the historical context framing device of the Marquis voice-overs. I'm a history nerd, though, so I can see how the things I most enjoy about the game might not appeal, or may even be seen as a negative.
And the super rushed ending is also sad, but real life happens.

I cannot fucking stand how they pronounce marquis. I play with subtitles, so I saw it, then heard it, and my brain rebelled.

That's a legit pronunciation though..
It looks like the kwis pronunciation is actually specifically the UK way to say it so saying it any other way with the accents would have been less correct.
They also stated that they aren't going to take down nude mods for the PC version, stating that they want to leave it to the discretion of the players.
Which is a really great response considering A) it would be pointless to police it, since you won't be able to catch it all and 99% of nude mods look like shit anyway.
I'll be much more interested in any mod that modifies Cindy to be more reasonably clothed (and, as a result, actually attractive).

MAR-key is the French pronunciation.
MAR-kwess is the English pronunciation. It's often spelled "marquess" in English language, even.
Interesting. The original is an old favorite of mine, so I'm intrigued. I wonder how the story or gameplay will change. if I remember correctly, the story is that they couldn't include everything they wanted in the original game due to the plans for the Nintendo Play Station falling through. So it'd be interesting if they added old ideas to this remake. But I'm getting ahead of myself. I hope it plays well. Randi's VA seems good.

I needed some kind of gameplay in that to be excited. The team that does the mana games had such a huge shift in mentality and honestly I thought it was worse basically after SD3. Even the remake of the original game which is one of my personal favorite games of all time (it was literally my gateway into actual RPGS) was changed drastically and was the closest thing they made to one of their old school games in a while.
If they keep it somewhat faithful then I am on board. If they do all sorts of radical things and it doesn't feel the same then I don't think I could be hyped. And since just releasing what SoM was outright just wouldn't fly as a game in this age, it is likely the latter. I just don't trust them to do something amazing like that again.
I should be like super excited for an announcement like that, but I'm not -_-
I never played the original Secret of Mana. It was always that one classic SNES Square game I had put off for several years without ever getting to it.
Wonder if I should wait for the remake. It's not the best art style, but if it means a better localization and modernized design elements, that might be the one I finally experienced.
Also, I've got a spare NA code for the Dissidia closed beta. Send a PM if you want it, though keep in mind you can't redeem it until the beta goes up (which won't be until Friday at midnight).
I just finished FF15! Hoo boy. That's the FIXED version of chapter 13?!
In the end, my feelings on it are a bit mixed. The first half of the game was a hoot. At first I thought there were too many damn sidequests, but seeing now as that's the brunt of the game, that's fine (Though the sidequests ruining the level curve wasnt) the second half...is kinda a mess, yeah. I didn't exactly hate it, and just powered through it, but felt myself wanting to just go back to the open world.

How did you feel about the actual ending? (Not considering the content running up to the actual ending.)
Had a hell of a time getting the chest with Wither to spawn in FFXII, was super annoying. Just now I was able to get all the rare chests (ranging from 10 to 25%, not including the ultra rare) in Henne Mines though so thanks game sorry for thinking mean thoughts earlier.
I've enjoyed the game, but the back end is pretty eh. Particularly the endless running around for hunts, abilities, etc.

I always found in weird that all of FFXV's combat utility was piled onto one bro considering events that happened the way they happened. Like why does Prompto have a taunt that when used, makes him explode a second after as he's ripped apart by mobs? Why does the "tank" dude not have a taunt? stupid shit like that. Starshard should've had the taunt aspect removed and in addition to debuffing demons, made it so you didn't lose gray health during demon encounters for the duration or something. Big big shirtless Ron a taunt off his aoe attack. I don't even know why I'm thinking about this so long after the fact.

Mm, that's somewhat reassuring. I've been meaning to upgrade my storage for a bit, maybe this'll be the thing that makes me actually do it.

They might use multiple resolutions for LoD, so removing textures might not work out.
Cindy and Gladio look horrible.
Ignis is as cute as ever, though.

So they are remaking FF7 to de-triangulify the characters and they are remaking FF15 to re-triangulify the characters.
What a world...
No confirmation what the actual size will be.

Kind of like how we conflate the Italian (for tay : loud) and French (fort : thing you are good at) words forte'
Or ask aks, etc.

I hope this leads to a similar remake of SD3.
