You can get some real cheap Carnival cruises, like $350 a person

It’s not super fancy but we could drink and play board games on a boat...

This carnival cruise has a Guy Fieri burger joint. And yeah it seems in the off season these things get real cheap, like early September looks real good.

Good deals to be had on cruises in the Caribbean at the peak of hurricane season? Inconceivable :P

I googled "wizard cruise" and was sadly disappointed.

Although I did find out that Wizard World tried to make a cruise/convention I guess? In 2016.

Knowing how shit they are at running regular land-based conventions, if they tried to move it onto a boat I expect they'd figure out a way to accidentally give you Scurvy when they mailed you your pass.

Those burgers are good and there's always a huge thing of juicy caramelized onions to slap on top.

Financially? Like June or July or something.

I don't even know what you do on a cruise.

drink, sunshine, stare at ocean, act like an uber tourist at carefully curated ports of call, drink, sunshine, buffets

so I've been led to believe, anyway. unless you go to Alaska or something and then it probably is the same but with less sunshine and more grandeur
    Basically this.
I thought i would hate being on a cruise before i went, but you can do as little or as much as you want. You can just sit in a chair on the deck and read out in ocean breeze if that's your thing. The food is usually good and varied and plentiful. I've only been on Carnival, but the staff will work their ass of to make sure you're having a good time. Usually by like, the second day your steward and usual waiter will feel like an old friend.

Also, barring bad weather, sleeping on a huge rocking ship like that is so soothing. Like being a baby again.

Okay, quick survey for the PAX-South crew, if you were interested in doing a cruise what time of the year would you want to do it during?

The best time is go in the Winter to somewhere warm, or the in summer to somewhere cool.

But if such a thing were to happen, I wouldn't be able to do it this year unless I stumble across a winning lotto ticket or something. My sister and I are getting my parents a cruise for their 50th anniversary this year.

You can pay a little bit at a time. That was how I sent my parents on their cruise. I paid the initial deposit and then did like...$200 per week? But that was via Priceline Cruises, not sure if it's the same policy elsewhere, but I imagine it is.

Speaking of cruises AJ would burn to the ground, "Details of the next Sci-Fi Cruise, a sailing for fans of the long-running show "Doctor Who," are already being leaked. In September 2018, Sylvester McCoy, the seventh Doctor Who, will join the cruise from Seattle, and more past and present cast members are waiting to be announced. The organization that runs a partial charter of the ship for the sailing has already done 20 Sci-Fi cruises, with intimate groups of around 50 people or less. You'll lose track of time and relative dimensions while vacationing on a cruise ship with a close group of "Doctor Who" fans and celebrities."

    Sailing from Seattle, how convenient!

Yeah, generally that's why cruises are my preference over all-inclusive resorts

There's stuff to do, places to see, generally menus rotate so you don't get stuck with the same meals every day

Also, if we did this thing, I'd like it to happen after July 1 so I get my vacation days replenished.

We could probably get a group rate if there's enough interest.

I would also enjoy a summer cruise, as I wouldn't be working, but the price definitely jumps up.

I was actually thinking winter, I just mean my school's fiscal year rolls over on July 1 and that's when we get our yearly allotment of sick and vacation days, so anytime after that is okay with me. And obviously not January because I still wanna do PAX South.

Does your district do a week off in February, Jimmy?

I would totally do a PAX Cruise. Hell, whether or not this idea manifests as an actual thing, I should just do a cruise. Get away from the goddamn internet for a while, expose my body to more than the incidental sunlight it gets on the way from my office to the parking lot right now, eat a ton of seafood, sounds fantastic all around.
