I don't know Mike Rowe's specific politics but the guy that just a show dedicated to blue collar workers and jobs having some conservative leanings doesn't strike me as a shocker.
Does he have some particularly abhorrent beliefs or something?
I guess he spoke at a Romney rally about blue collar jobs.
Which in this day and age seems innocuous.
I could look further but this has been a long day and I've already fallen behind on my drinking.
I don't know much about Patreon. When people put out 20k, is that 20k straight dollars to that person every month? Are folks out there making 6 figures doing internet content? Is that money subject to the same ~33% income tax as typical jobs?
it depends on how its structured
I'm not a tax person, but like yes it's basically taxed the same, but then you can write things off as business expenses (sole proprietorship I believe)
or there's different ways you can manage the money where you instead do payroll out of it and the money is handled in different accounts (starts looking like a real damn business)
There are two things that do cause more to be taken out than normal. First patreon takes a little bit. Then there are the taxes which your employer is responsible for (basically a hidden part of income tax) which you need to deal with when self employed.
(you should probably do some research before actually jumping into something like this, but it's really all about running a business and doing whatever that entails)
End on
I wish that someway, somehow, that I could save every one of us
IIRC, freelancers have to do taxes quarterly, and they get taxed more heavily or something? I think that's what Drew is now, technically. Unless Cloth Map is an LLC and he's done some weird business tax stuff.
If you make more than $191,650.00 every dollar over that is taxed at 33% https://www.tax-brackets.org/federaltaxtable $0.00+ 10%

Fuck our tax system
You make over double the previous bracket, nearly half a million? 2% more taxes!
Hey, I had to duck out of this thread for the day.
I never heard of "soft boy" outside of jokes/memes on Polygon itself, like all the comments about griffin and Nick being two good soft boys, or these soft sweet boys, etc. (I'm subbed to the Griffin & Nick subreddit, /r/twosoftboys) I didn't know that it was like a thing outside of that.

The episode the world has been waiting for. Yes, Elvis has returned. The King is back... again... and he lifts (50kg). How will the mighty Elvis perform against the other big returnee: The Bodyhammer. The highly-upgraded runner up has a new, handle-less, pointed hammer working in conjunction with a deadly flat-piece-of-steel-shaped-into-a-disk-with-sharp-edges-hammer.

The social media version of going down for tax evasion.
