One of the formative narrative arcs of my childhood was reading about how Calvin was waiting forever for a beanie he ordered to arrive, and when it finally arrived he couldn't even fly with it.
Handknit toys are always so good for animals, because a machine made toy will never have the same scent as yarn that has been held by human hands for a few hours.
I love seeing animals get startled because they do the same self-conscious "immediately and overly-obviously pretend like nothing happened" thing we do
Mama Tiger may have been genuinely startled, but that could also be her trying to train the cub to hunt. Big cats will often play with their young by letting themselves get sneaked up on and then flopping over in a very exaggerated "Oh shoot, you caught me, I'm dead!" sort of way. The way her ears were kind of back in the beginning of the gif, I'd bet she heard exactly where the cub was creeping up.

That's possible. But I've also witnessed my own dog surprise himself with a fart so badly he lept to his feet and barked, only to immediately realize and turn around and pointedly sniff the spot where he'd been as if to say "alright who did that?"
