It was great to meet up with Mgcw at the gig last night! Tomb Mold and Daeva wrecked it, Horrendous was really good except for the clean vocal parts which felt off.
Oh yeah that familiar guitar player from Daeva, I think he's also in Crypt Sermon, not Eternal Champion. He's also in Trenchrot who are great, and he's played live a few times with Vektor and Horrendous according to M-A. Quite a resumee.
Yeah I hadn't read the lyrics to the Sadist but that makes sense, great idea for a concept album! I'm digging it. It's not quite as amazing as the demon snowman album but I'd still say it's in their top three with Season in Silence and the debut.
Lots of North American dates. Two nights in Toronto so I’m making a trip (recently relocated to Ottawa).

Bloody hell. I have to go to Vancouver on Monday for training. If training had been set back one week, I would totally be able to go see Behemoth, At the Gates, and Wolves in the Throne Room.
Ah well.
Garry: I know you gentlemen have been through a lot, but when you find the time I'd rather not spend the rest of the winter TIED TO THIS FUCKING COUCH!

My wife and I are determined to make it to the show that comes here. Cutting short a visit with relatives since it's not long after Thanksgiving.
The production is based on our mobile game THE LEGACY OF THE BEAST which basically takes various incarnations of Eddie into many different Maiden Worlds. This inspired us to put together a stage show to take our fans through different Worlds and experiences set to appropriate songs.
Bruce you so crazy...
I've still never seen Maiden live. I like a lot of their older hits but they're one of those bands I just never listened to a ton for no real reason. And as someone who hesitates when spending more than $30 on a ticket to anything, their shows are usually priced well beyond what I'd normally pay.
I'm the same way. My wife and I are debating going to see KISS when they come around but it's like $130 for two tickets. I guess if a band has been around 30-40 years and puts on a huge production, I wouldn't mind paying $40-50, but it's really just up to the individual. As long as there are some people that will pay whatever amount, they'll keep busting the prices through the roof.
I've seen Maiden a few times already, always under $30. If they were announcing their final tour I might go be inspired to go gain, but these days I'd rather buy tickets for bands I've never seen, or underground and local bands that need the boost.

The worst of it is that I missed The Body and Lingua Ignota over the summer as well. I'm going to need to start paying attention to these things, I think.

As someone who saw the UK leg of the Legacy of the Beast tour a couple of months back...
Trust me. Beg, borrow and steal (okay, maybe not steal) to get to one of those shows. Even by Iron Maiden's lofty standards, this tour is something a bit special. Yes, it was more than I'd normally pay for a concert ticket these days, but it was 100% worth it. This is one you'll look back on in years to come and be so glad you went.
The Spitfire alone. I mean, Eddie H. Christ that is something else. And that's just the start. The stuff they pull out for this show is just amazing.

That's what I was talking about!
I don't think you saw my face but during the Horrendous clean vocal parts I literally couldn't help cringing, haha.

Yeah, they were awkward...honestly even their death growls were pretty bland, I think if they got a dedicated vocalist they'd completely kill it live. Some of the songs they played were incredible sounding.
I'm definitely going to that Oakland date for Iron Maiden. I've always wanted to see them live, and I don't know how many more chances I'll get.
It's definitely getting to the point where if you want to see one of the classic metal bands, one had best do it soon. They're not getting any younger!

Yup, I passed up the last two times Black Sabbath came by and now they've called it quits.

I stupidly passed up the last time Rush played the UK. Didn't know it would be the last time at the time (Clockwork Angels tour), but really I should've done. And they've called it a day now too. I did get to see them twice before, thankfully, but that one still stings.
They seemed much better in a club than in an arena. I've seen them in both settings and they just felt a little out of place in the larger atmosphere. In fact I think I saw them open up for Maiden in an arena, that was the second last time I saw them I believe.

Yeah, I don't doubt it for a second. I'd have loved to have seen them in a club.

I wasn’t even drunk! Or had any alcohol for that matter! My friends and I hotboxed his car while blasting “Killed By Death” right before the show, but that’s it.

A good choice! I've been going through and slowly picking up all their CDs I didn't already own. A couple are getting pricey but you can generally find them used.
Some more Maiden thread title ideas since they are touring NA again.
The Number of the [Hesher]
Hallowed by thy [Hesher]
2 Minutes to [Hesher]
Seventh [Hesher] of a Seventh Hesher
Fear of the [Hesher]
Sign of the [Hesher]
Brave New [Hesher]
The Book of [Hesher]
[Hesher] in a Strange Land
If Eternity Should [Hesher]
The Loneliness of the Long Distance [Hesher]
For the Greater Good of [Hesher]
The Reincarnation of Benjamin [Hesher]
Ghost of the [Hesher]
Out of the Silent [Hesher]
Mission from [Hesher] (getting a bit more obscure there)
Or just bung the whole title in there and go [Hesher] Legacy of the Beast - less jokey but clearer that way
Although, in the non-Maiden suggestions, Anthems to the [Hesher] at Dusk is great. (Great album too.)

This is the first time they've played the city proper in years (usually it's a theme park with an amphitheatre about 20 miles outside of town).
I have that exact model Jackson (Adrian Signature) that he's playing there too.
Now I just need the Japanese Dave Murray Fender.

Seriously, don't miss it if at all possible.

That and never seeing Motörhead.

This is a thing that is new to me and unexpectedly on the doom spectrum.
