Uh oh....looks like Doomguy dun' pissed off some Seraphim or at least the voice sounds too cultured/smooth to be demon related. Will be interesting to see how this plays out.
And in the end, whether angel or demon, the Doom Slayer conquered all...

I could totally believe that in Doom, the angelic hosts allowed Hell to invade Earth as a containable proxy war, but the Slayer’s involvement somehow ruptures their design and demons are spilling all willy-nilly into the Eternal (in-game term for Heaven?)
How much of the games lore is explicitly Abrahamic faith versus hell and heaven being alternate dimensions? From what I remember from 2016 it is pretty explicitly not tied to religion right? I can get behind humans somehow getting a glimpse of glowing white figures and assuming it is some sort of paradise. I will be much less happy if they go generic religion though.
Doomguy doesn’t believe in any god, but they believe in him.
I don’t think religion will be involved at all, and what is truly divine if it can have its jaw shoved up its ass?

I know Heaven/etc hasn't been really confirmed yet, but I absolutely love the idea of Doomguy being as aggressively pissed off at Angels as he was at the Demons and just fucking EVERYBODY up equally. Doomguy does not give a shit what side you're on.

I like "Doom Slayer exists to fuck up demons and will annihilate anything that gets in his way."
The scene from the gameplay reveal where he's running through the UAC lab and everyone is freaking out and getting out of his way was fantastic.

That scene was so goddamn perfect. The utter pants-shitting terror the UAC employees show when we waltzes in there, and yet he doesn't harm a single one, heck even the guy who has the keycard to access the door could have been roughed up, the keycard forcibly yanked from his neck (i'm sure Doomslayer's strength could have easily snapped that nylon cord) and yet he just carefully tugs the card over to the scanner and leaves the employee unharmed.
It channels perfectly his mindset. LIke, It's not that I'm sparing you, I just need you to get out of my way so I can kill more demons.

Quake II RTX is pretty neat. All the lighting and stuff looks very nice. Still plays exactly like Quake II, which isn’t too surprising, so that’s whatever. I like being able to adjust time of day and lighting and stuff like that.
Also wait sentinel home world? Who are the sentinels again? I really need to replay doom 2016
Literally all that shit is just in lore tabs and codex entries.

I'm really hoping they aren't biting off more than they can chew with this. Hell on Earth, Phobos, Mars, Hell, Heaven, Sentinels homeworld... there's several games of content in there. Either we're getting a super, super chunky single player campaign, or we're not spending long at some of those locations. Though they could spend less time on Mars and Hell itself since we spent a long time there in the first game.

It wouldn’t surprise me if the game is barely on Mars at all, and ‘Earth’ is a single hub system that you return to en route to Heaven, Hell, and Sentinelville.
I’m ok with brief and spectacular visits to different locals, but yeah I hope there’s lot of good slow breathing moments in environments to really flesh it out
The cyber demon looking like the old game one is just the coolest thing. I had no problem with the redesign in 2016, but it was just a bit generic, this one looks so incredible, much more wretched and horrifying like the old one

One of my biggest complaints about 2016 was that for the most part the monsters looked too different from their originals, I even suggested that a classic skin DLC for the monsters would sell like hot cakes. This pleases me so much.

Geez, according to that RPS video, what they showed at E3 - from Phobos to Mars orbit to Mars core to the Cyberdemon was a single level.
I'm continually surprised at their utter refusal to reuse assets. All those demons were there from the 2016 game, and their level of detail was fine for this new game. Same with guns. Yet they committed to redesigning everything. I think only the Chainsaw and BFG were the assets from the first game.

id has made a rebirth that I never thought I'd see. They're actually back to being who they were around the time of Doom 2 and Quake.
Had to let the old guard go and get some new blood.

They've still had missteps. Quake Champions has utterly failed to catch on (though I think that's more to do with the arena shooter being a pretty dead multiplayer concept these days, but it's got plenty of problems) and Rage 2 wasn't the hit that was hoped (though the Bethesda guy said 'millions of players fought in the Wasteland' so I don't think sales were too bad?).
But yeah, Doom 2016 feels like it was a statement that id Software is back.

if you need invert mouse, set m_pitch to negative. Default is 0.022, set it to -0.022 to get inverted mouse.

Nah I'm sure they can get Reinhardt back in the saddle.
Colour coding the weapon wheel is very clever
Also the demons sound way too quiet, hoping that’s just a recording issue with the clip
Also a cyberdemon that actually looks like the old school cyberdemon fuck yes!
Then I watched the new Doom Eternal Trailer and was like "Doomguy's totally going to punch god in the face!"
