I've always been neutral about the comic. I've liked the art and character designs, but never got into it. I found the authors constant failed attempts to end it kinda annoying.
But then I learned about the circumstances of this Shelley characters pregnancy, and it's super fucking gross. It honestly taints the whole thing for me.
I've kinda lost interest in Poppy with the new format
The format could be good, but I find that the prose is pretty poor. Maybe they were good at plotting and writing dialogue for comic panels, but their writing in a direct story format is... not great. So far. Hopefully with practics it picks up.

Yeah, I was interested in the Poppy webcomic. I am not so interested in the Poppy illustrated story-book.
Humor can be dissected as a frog can, but dies in the process.
Brains are weird. I would normally enjoy a video or series of images about a cat unlocking a drawer and climbing inside, but because it's by the Nerf Now! person I immediately become a big ol grumpo.
I like the new Poppy and the 4th wall bit is right up my alley.

Poppy is a comic that should do really well in the new format but yeah the writing in these first couple has felt pretty weak compared to the comic
Maybe its just that the art was so good that it feels like the writing has a ton of extra work to do and it isn't quite up to the task yet but hopefully as they get used to the new format it will improve

Yeah, I'm not razzin ya. I'm saying that with an exasperated sigh "Jesus fuck really? Actual literal Nazis are a huge deal in 2017? Really? Really?"

Oh, you edited. Uh, I am on my phone and it doesn't wanna let me quote but...
There was a marvel comics event recently that the writer tried to say "no, hydra aren't nazis you guys" and "this isn't a political story!"
In the event, Captain America turns out to be Hydra, Hydra conquers America and turns into a fascist state, and it goes on and on. One blunderous highlight was Marvel trying to get comic stores to buy into the event and put Hydra paraphernalia up in stores.
Basically the worst timed event possible and fairly poorly written and handled.

there was some reveal a bunch of years back that SHIELD had been HYDRA the entire time and Nick Fury had just been too stupid to notice
Capital is only the fruit of labor, and could never have existed if Labor had not first existed. Labor is superior to capital, and deserves much the higher consideration. - Lincoln

Spoiler for that comic
Except that Fury knew that Hydra thought that he was too stupid to notice but they were too stupid to notice!
Flawless plan!
Nick Fury: Hah! I already knew you were Hydra!
Captain America: Well we knew that you knew we were Hydra, but we're actually SHIELD!
Nick Fury: I knew that you knew that I knew you were SHIELD pretending to be Hydra, because I'm Hydra!
Captain America: *GASP* (DUN DUN DUNNNNN!)

people make bad decisions sometimes!
there's a bare ass and a bit of a scrote being spanked in one panel
The format could be good, but I find that the prose is pretty poor. Maybe they were good at plotting and writing dialogue for comic panels, but their writing in a direct story format is... not great. So far. Hopefully with practics it picks up.
Some subjects more obvious that other.

I can't say I've noticed that the quality of the writing has changed, it seems pretty decent to me
