I'm finally getting into DDD and I'm not really sure what to do with the spirits?
I'm at the grid and have never removed the little pug dog because he heals me better than Donald ever did.
I only finally got enough of them to vary Sora/rikus teams enough to start leveling them toward some of the abilities and I just got one with second chance so I guess I'm progressing?
Yeah. That's fine. It's been a while since I played DDD to finish. I recall there not being that much of a rush to get all the best Spirits. But there are some that teach you really good abilities later on. There's this tiger one that teaches one of Riku's signature moves.
You want to push to the good abilities ASAP. Leaf bracer, Second Chance, Once More, and I believe some mobility stuff might be in there too. Just always be leveling and try to make one of each kind at least with all that crafting shit they throw at you.

Basically
Make a spirit
See if it has any abilities (red dots) or spirit abilities (purple dots) to unlock, as those are permanent.
Get any new commands it might have for you.
Make a new spirit and repeat.
Very late game you may want to put together a specific team to get the stat boosts and limit breaks you want, but unless you go into optional content it really doesn't matter.
You can also make spirits with different letter grades but I have completely forgotten how that all works.
So wow this last zone is deeply unpleasant. It'd likely be better if this was critical instead of proud but God damn everything is a gigantic health sink and too big of a body and it messes up cameras and gets me trapped constantly and why is every spawn room multiple waves and also I blame my own dinosaur for getting in the way constantly but he's got once more so I need him out to get past his link gate.
1. The fact that all of their trailers cut out all sound except for the music the are playing and the voice acting makes the trailers always come off as weird or amateurish to me.
2. Fuck yes I am a part of the small demographic that loves 100 acre wood mini-games. Give me as much of that as possible.
Started playing Kingdom Hearts 1.5 Final Mix today. Up to Tarzan's level when PLOT demands that Donald suddenly start being an asshole for no real reason. Why do you not want to explore this world? We explored an acid dream and a gladiator arena but you don't want to check out the jungle your king might be hiding in? Why?
Also noticed that this version has some chests changed up from the PS3 version. Was expecting Dalmations and got Gummi Ship pieces. On the bright side, I figured out how to customize my gummi ship and now I seek only more guns to put on my flying gun that doubles as a ship. Press the fire button and watch as I re-enact the Death Blossom from Last Starfighter.
I would bet money the FF15 dudes are in this game and Sora will have a very long talk about friendship with them

Considering the guy they put in charge of FF15 left the company, the last 3 DLCS have been cancelled outright, and the game lost them $33mil, eh I dunno.
I also wonder sometimes if the lack of FF characters post KH2 isn't Disney's doing in some way.

I mean, they haven't not been in, though they've been decidedly diminished for a while.
* 358/2 Days had, if I remember correctly, none (I think Cloud was absent from the coliseum). Though I suppose that's because it was sort of a side story, with characters who didn't want to interact with the people of the worlds much.
* Birth By Sleep had just Zack, with a possible guest appearance from Sephiroth, though Zack did get 2 boss fights (one of them repeated) across 2 storylines.
* Re:Coded, as a weird re-telling of KH1, has Cid in Traverse Town, and Cloud in the Coliseum, where he is playable.
* DDD doesn't have any new Final Fantasy characters per se. But it does have the main cast of The World Ends With You.
* AFP has nobody, but that's to be expected. The only characters there at all are the BBS cast and Mickey.

I may have spent half an hour killing them as they kept spawning in before I put the game on pause and googled to find out why they weren't dropping anything.
I'm playing through Kingdom Hearts II for the first time, and noticing a lot more of Mickey. In the back of my head I can't stop wondering about what contracts must be in place for what they can and cannot do, so I've been a bit surprised by his amount of presence.
Spoilers for a bit past the Tron section, in case anyone else is playing for the first time.
I really did not expect the implied fucking DEATH of Goofy due to head trauma, complete with Mickey throwing his robe aside and charging into battle. I know there's no way that Goofy is dead, but holy shit they even go to a screen that says his items have been given to you.
Was there an intern handling this game? Epic Mickey even had to make sure that Mickey's ears always lined up in that weird way that Mickey Mouse Clubhouse always has them spinning around for the right silhouette.

The Hollow Bastion crew will be around at least a little, I'm sure. Cloud and Sephiroth will probably show up. Tifa might get to tag along with them.
Other than that I doubt any/many others will show up. They really backed away from FF representation after KH2.

What's the deal here? Was it supposed to be part story connection and part a tech demo for 3 and they just did zero art direction for it?
