So on average, how much of Danny do I need to tune out of this show?

    Ehhhh.

You can ignore him for the first two or three episode entirely when he's alone.

When he's with Luke Cage it's better cause then he's getting clowned on or getting his privilege shoved down his face.

Humor can be dissected as a frog can, but dies in the process.

Based on the first three episodes, they also had a chance to actually work on his fights this time, so that helps.

I won't get a chance to watch this for a bit but the reviews are some of the most wildly varying I've seen in a while

Different outlets will praise exactly the same things others are berating it for

It really makes it impossible to guess how I'm going to receive any of this

The Iron Fist fights have definitely improved. Danny is still kind of insufferable though.

    Episode 2 spoilers
I certainly felt he seemed a lot more competent and better choreographed in his comical fight against Luke Cage than in pretty much most fights in Iron Fist

Watching this now without having watched Iron Fist.

Just watched the first episode. It definitely wants its audience to watch the other shows first. I have, so fine for me (no annoying infodumps so far.)

    Episode 1 spoilers:
It's of to a good start for me:
The Iron Fist parts are still shockingly bad compared to the rest. I'm not even blaming the actors, but the lines are completely predictable, the camera work is basic at best.
The Cage and Daredevil parts are good, I like the Jessica Jones part the best (probably because I like that series the best as well).
The first Sigourney Weaver scene surprised me; didn't expect to start with our main villain (according to the trailers) in that position; relatable, vulnerable. Also interesting to see that she appearantly outranks Gao by quite a lot. Want to see how that plays out.

note: does nobody in New York know what to do in case of earthquakes? They all just keep standing there, apart from Luke who is actually doing something. Earthquake seemed a lot heavier in Luke's scene, though that could be location based.

It definitely doesn't help that he's shirtless in the same episode Mike Colter is shirtless

Like, there's no competition. His body is a massacre

  • TubeTube Registered User admin
Mike Colter has one of my favourite physiques in superhero stuff because he's huge and strong but he still has a little tummen because sometimes huge strong people have a tummen.

    Well, shit. Shit went down.
Hey, guess this means Misty is getting that metal arm now.
Also, no body, so I guess they might still be able to bring back Gao.

Yeah, a lot of "strong man" competitors look like fat dudes (especially in the face) before you realize they're just pure fuckin muscle without toning*

*I don't actually know anything about this other than physical attraction to them

Instead of toning it's more just that they have excess body fat covering their muscles, because losing that body fat would waste time that they could be spending getting huger and stronger.

One of the best physiques in a superhero movie was Bane, because he looked like a guy who threw things the fuck around and didn't give a shit about his abs. He had a flat chest because working on sweet pecs doesn't help you beat up Batman and huge traps because having huge traps totally helps you beat up Batman.

It's too bad Iron Fist is poorly cast because the rest of the casting is really spot on.

Yeah, he's fucking gorgeous. Great voice too. He looks like he stepped off the page of a Luke Cage comic.

I gave him a little bit of a pass in the first series because he didn't have much time to prepare and his script was terrible, but if I'd seen the reviews for Iron Fist I'd have been drilling fight scenes five hours a day to make sure I rocked shit when I got another shot.

Bane literally sets a trap for Batman in that movie so

    Joke denied on factual grounds.

Danny definitely seems better. Granted, it could just be better editing or something.
I'm really enjoying it so far (6 or 7 episodes in).

I only made it a few episodes into Iron Fist before giving up. I had just finished season 1 of Into the Badlands when it came out and it was just too painful to watch after that. The contrast was...stark.

    The contrast was...that metal guy.

    Fixed to avoid a lawsuit.

I am enjoying this after the first 2 episodes,
Liking the pairings so far, really liking Cage doing a complete no sell of Danny's punching. Harkens back to his bar fight in Jessica Jones, which was great.

So I guess Iron Fist couldn't be dicked to get maybe more in shape for the role of super martial arts guy raised by warrior monks to be a living weapon huh

    Shame, that

Binged this from midnight to about 6:40am. Just woke up. The Hand was.....handled much better. Instead of being doofy ninjas they felt like a real, menacing threat with mysterious goals. It was good.

I've only got one question going into this, because I didn't finish Iron Fist
I had just gotten the reveal that Colleen was part of the Hand before I gave it up
What are the circumstances of her being good now

I'm always angry with how little of this the Daredevil show seems to be willing to give us

I'd rather watch a TV show about Matt Murdock, Attorney-at-Law than Daredevil, Vigilante with Anger Issues
