No. Unless things changed in the last six months, you need to claim your reward from the bulletin board once the community goal has concluded. I forget if you need to visit the station that hosted the CG or if you can collect it from any station. You should have a few weeks to claim it, although I don't recall how long it lasts before it expires.
Are you sure about that Armchair? I'm pretty sure the reward is auto-collected after two weeks, at least from what I've read. I know they disappear from the transaction tab at least, but I've never actually checked if I receive the money...
How long do system scans and planetary scans stay sellable in my databanks?
I was thinking of futzing around in the bubble for a few weeks in real time (not 24/7 just a couple of hours a day) and then bumbling my way back to civilization and I am wondering if the scans will just.... fade.
New Ship: Chieftain Elite Dangerous Horizons Commanders will also be able to take to the stars in the new Alliance Chieftain, designed not only to dish out punishment, but to avoid it. Manufactured by Lakon Spaceways, the Chieftain is more maneuverable than ships of similar size and weight, and its combat profile means it can more than hold its own in a fight.
Improved Core Mechanics Chapter 1 of Beyond will bring improvements to some of Elite Dangerous' core mechanics, including accessibility enhancements to the engineering mechanics, an overhaul of mission rewards and big changes to crime and punishment. We’ll be sharing more information on the changes to Crime and Punishment, and the Engineers in a future post here on the forums and in the livestreams mentioned above.
Wing Missions Chapter 1 of Beyond will give you the chance to take on wing missions with your fellow Commanders, sharing both the efforts and rewards.
Revised Trade Data Commanders will now be able to access trade data from systems they have previously visited, in order to make more informed decisions when shipping goods across the Milky Way.
Planetary Visual Improvements Chapter 1 also includes the first of the planetary visual improvements coming as part of the Beyond series of updates (with more surface level improvements coming later in the year) bringing a new vibrancy to the Elite Dangerous galaxy.
GalNet Audio With the introduction of GalNet Audio, you will be able to catch up on the latest news from across the galaxy without ever leaving the action.
You can find the beta details below:
• When? 25 January 2018 • Who? This beta is open to everyone on PC and Mac
The beta includes new content, changes and improvements for both Elite Dangerous and Elite Dangerous Horizons players. In order to access all of the content, you will require Elite Dangerous Horizons.(edited)
I didn't expect the Chieftain to be a combat ship, more a multi-purpose to compete with the Python.
As a pirate, I am not really happy with the probable C&P changes without improvements to the seedy career paths. Oh well, guess I will just attack PP targets who won't come with the extra punishments.
Wing missions sound boss. I wish it had come with improvements to multi-crew through (especially allowing wings and multi-crew to work together).
I also hope the visual improvements on planets don't slow down my framerate any more than they already do.
So far all the Beyond update stuff ticks nearly all boxes I have had gripes about, except that we should able to defend stations / cap ships / etc from Thargoid attacks instead of them being on server ticks.
Other than that though, Beyond is extremely exciting to me! New planet graphics, expanded mining and exploration gameplay, new ships, and more! Heck yeah!!

When I really get into Elite I have alot of fun but it's like the game wants you to hate it.
SO many of these damned missions are bugged all to hell and back! It is infuriating!!!
Assassination missions to kill a terrorist that require you to go scan a comms array at a heavily fortified base that the company itself owns yet the data node is private and the base does not like trespassers so you WILL be scragged by huge ships and gun turrets. Should you actually manage to scan the thing, nothing happens, it's bugged and you can't progress the mission.
Missions to go take out X number of Y faction's ships in conflict zones - neat! Except they aren't fighting, there are no conflict zones with that faction in them so you cannot complete the mission. None! I scoured the whole system and found out its bugged and this happens sometimes.
Destroy the sentry skimmers - these are only partially bugged or just poorly designed. They want you to destroy like 12 skimmers but there are only 4 at the base. The only solution is to kill the 4, relog to force a respawn and repeat. I should not have to do stupid crap like this to complete a mission!
Acquire mission specific cargo mission - awesome! Except when they have 100 units of water or something along with the 8 mission specific things I need and the hatch breaker limpet spews out random cargo. Good luck getting the things you need before they jump or are exploded somehow.
I'm sure there are more.
The missions are still pretty basic mechanically but they are quite fun when things work. The fact that it's been this long and yet is still so buggy is really frustrating and disappointing.

Ima the most boring way possible.

Oh yeah I like how they added anti-missile defenses to some bases to counter that tactic for the skimmer missions, yet didn't fix the missions themselves.
Though overall I do think its a nice touch and makes sense that bases would have anti-missile defenses.

There really seems to have been no interest in maintaining anything like suspension of disbelief with the missions. At this point, I suspect they implemented those systems so poorly that we're looking at their best efforts now.

That's really sad if true because it makes up a significant bulk of the game's content currently.
I mean the mission system isn't a side thing, they are advertising wing missions coming up and whatnot. They've also done what, 2 development passes on the mission system? Why build further onto a broken system? Their development decisions confuse me.

I've recently become interested in this game, and I wishlisted it on Steam, hoping to someday soon catch it on sale.
However, I've also recently tried to pull this game up on Twitch and watch some people play it, to help gauge my true interest. And every Twitch stream I've pulled up for this game has been of somebody doing ship modifications, or changing their outfitting, or just floating around in space.
In maybe 10 attempts at watching streams, I've never once seen anybody doing anything interesting. And that is a bit worrisome.
So I've had my Oculus Rift for several weeks now and still haven't tried it with Elite. Mostly because I'm intimidated by having to set up a new 'blind' control scheme.

It's alittle bit accurate too sometimes lol. Despite that and the fact that I spent several of the above posts complaining about the mission system, Elite Dangerous is a unique and cool game. It is also a very flawed game, I won't sugar coat it and pretend like there is every reason to buy it. However if you like what it's got on offer and are willing to deal with it's flaws you can have a ton of space fun.

Think euro space trucker with some combat. The game can be very comfy at times.

Its a very slow paced thing. i pick it up every few months. it can be chill.
I'm up to 100mil on smeaton orbital passenger runs. Ill do another 3 or 5 runs and buy some rad ship. rule the stars....

Is the game still Early Access? If it's as buggy and/or broken as it sounds in some aspects, does that mean it's still in an "in development" status? Or is it just a really buggy game?
It is this chimera of Concept Roadmaps and Expansion Packs. The Vision™ is far removed from the actual product, which contains progressively more and more features of The Vision™ with each pack, but their systems for implementation and iteration appear limited in scope so matters can be jank as fuck.
Each release includes half-baked but mostly functional features which may be improved upon if players like them.
See pvp for a dead on arrival feature that didn't get turned into an inter-state pve gladiatorial combat minigame because their ai would probably just slam into tunnels and die or some such. Alternatively, they hadn't the time for the effort and have given up on anything that might engage a player outside of whatever it is they want us to do.
I sound super salty here. I'm not mad, though. I'm just a little sad that there isn't more awesome stuff to gush about.
Been doing the 'Road to Riches' thing over the weekend. I can make quite a bit of money pretty fast, and it's not nearly as monotonous as carting people 40min in FSD would be.
I actually went to patch up my game last night because of the money to be made carting people 40+min in FSD. Although my intent was to alt-tab and do other things while occasionally tabbing back in to course correct. I'm sure that I'll need to grind money if I want to bankroll one of those wing carriers that they talked about.
But then I remembered that Elite was one of games that got wiped out during a hard drive failure a few months ago. So I spent awhile re-downloading the whole game. Then I remembered that Voice attack also got wiped out by the same hard drive failure, and then I abandoned my efforts for the evening because I couldn't remember my macros. I did find a copy of my request docking permissions macro since I had PM'd that to a few people, and that was the only one that took any real measure of effort to create.
I am currently running in a Diamondback Scout that was my combat ship, and is now my exploration ship. I got a Vulture and took it out but did not enjoy it much. Everytime I got into a fight the canopy would shatter like rice-paper. So I have resold that ship.
I have 24 million in the bank, and trying to figure out what I want to kit out for a combat/bounty vessel.
The vulture is one of the better combat ships out there. Within your budget range, the Vulture should be the strongest combat ship. Your canopy shouldn't be shattering because your shields shouldn't be dropping in the first place unless you're wading in way over your head. Make sure to utilize your lateral thrusters to orbit the bigger ships so that they can't bring all of their guns to bear against you.
The best combat ship is probably the Fer-De-Lance, above your budget.
The Federal Assault Ship and Federal Gunship can be considered upgrades over the Vulture in their own ways, but again they're probably too expensive.
You could look into the Imperial Courier. It has less firepower but it is faster and more agile than the vulture. Its main claim to fame is its ludicrously strong shields. Such a small ship has no business having shields that potent, and it's practically a posterchild of imperial bias in that regard. You'll need to rank up with the empire a bit to gain access to it though.
I think I am going to have to get a throttle with a castle or hat. I can't conveniently use my maneuvering thrusters outside of docking with my current setup.

The Thrustmaster TWCS throttle is supposed to be a pretty decent solution, especially at the price point.

Probably. Though at this point, ten million is comfortably in the area of "Oh, fuck this shit. No thanks."
High rated resource spot for bounty mining. Not too far from a lot of systems for trading.
I made it out to the last CG, for those who wondered. Bought a hauler, equipped it and hauled ass over to the spot.
I left before the goal hit. I am on PS4, I should get auto-paid in two weeks right?
Armchair: 4098-3704-2012
I want to say 8 weeks, but I've never verified. You will be auto-paid at some point though, it was patched in awhile ago.

Wing missions look very disappointing. Starting to suspect this is the best they can do with the game, mission wise.
Also, if you play as a criminal type - FU. All punishments, no benefits.
