Hey guys. Terra's legend sphere is definitely a thing.
You're making me want to do that; I need to re-do Sealion with a better medal count anyway, and I'll soon be able to Dive Terra.
What was everyone using? I'm guessing Entrust on Setzer, BSB on Y'shtola and Mog, USB on Ramza, and Wrath with Omen/Fire Beam and Scorching Flames on Terra? What did you do to trigger her Trance, or did you leave that role to the boss?

Ramza was on Lifesiphon/Entrust. His Lifesiphon plus a hit from the boss triggered Trance (that's why they're both in the front row). Also Terra cast Faith on herself on turn 1, but I'm not entirely sure it was necessary.
EDIT: Also I deliberately ordered the party that way. Since everyone starts at the same ATB, Mog is the fastest, and everyone goes in order after him. Ramza needed to be next to get out his Lifesiphon before Y'shtola (with thunder god mode) was able to use the RW Wall.
Question for people who've tried: how's Squall's BSB2 as a RW for the Torment dungeons? Obviously not as great as having it native or stacked on top of a cloud with USB, but just in general - can it do heavy lifting by itself?

Now that I'm finally doing partial dives on people I never even vaguely bothered with in the past for the sake of eking out as much damage as possible for Magicite, I'm actually running out of 4* Wisdom and Spirit motes before I'm worried about Vitality.
That's mildly vexing. Good thing I never bothered doing the Vit mote farm...?

It all depends on how you have relics for and feel has a good record sphere. I'm also more limited by the caster 4* motes than anything else because for about a year I only pulled caster gear for no apparent reason.
The 4* spheres on most physical characters suck, so if you're just doing 4* spheres that have actual benefits, it's going to be all on casters who usually get like +9% throughput, where most physical characters only get +3% if they're lucky. So that'll definitely cause an imbalance.

Man, not having Ramza is still a pain in the ass. It's not even nesc the boostga, because I have that elsewhere, but having a boostga + being so flexible.

I was using Terra with Omen, Legend Dive, 20% fire damage, and Scholar's Boon. She would use Wrath once and then begin with Meltdown eventually into spamming Omen. Refia with 40% fire damage from gear, 40% monk damage rm, and BSB. She used Meteor Crush once, then Fired Within until BSB and switching to C1 afterwards. OK with 40% fire damage from gear, Smoldering Flames, and BSB. Smoldering Flames and Living Flame magicite use was his roll after BSB. Ramza with Fire Veil, Entrust, and USB. Fire Veil until Entrust to Terra. Sarah with BSB. Shellga and Curaja plus one BSB cast mostly to eat a Savage Blizzaja.
I think there is plenty of room for fine tuning and I am still fidling with it myself. Works pretty well when it works. I do like the idea of forcing the transform so I am probably going to steal that rather than relying on blind luck.
Sure do love how this FFVIII Torment, which all but demands I use ice (an element for which my best team is a pair of Mages) features a boss who puts an enternal Reflect on himself and counters magic attacks with an AOE.

Man these Magicite bosses are driving me nuts. I can't crack a single one. Bismarck does too much damage, and I barely seem to tickle any of the others.

Fenrir and Burning Man do the least damage. Try them first, Fenrir only needs protect and wind resist, burning man only needs protect and instant ko resist. Do you have anyone legend dived? Radiant shield? Non elemental damage?
Remember that Ninja Magic and the Monk ability Piercing Strike ignore defenses. Both of those things have helped me secure some of my wins.

I should probably try branching out. I halfassed an attempt at Liquid Flame, and lasted until my hones ran out at around 50% HP, and was still healing mostly well, just not going to kill him so I dropped.
I also will admit that Bismarck has become something of a white whale for me. I'll start building a team, and then think "Maybe this will work for Bis," and then drop all my prep and go back to trying to build a team for fighting him.
I have Lightnings LMR, and LM1, but thats it.
I'm about to try Fenrir w/ Celes BSB2, Serah BSB, Rikku USB, Selphie BSB, Y'sthola BSB
"I will write your name in the ruin of them. I will paint you across history in the color of their blood."
Today I figured, "Eh, even though I have literally one water relic to my name, and not even an en-element at that, I'm gonna poke my head in against Liquid Flame and see if it's even remotely close."
The dude used Savage Whatever...twice? Maybe three times? I swear his most commonly-used action was "Attack". His head must have spinning something fierce with how fast his forms were cycling.
It wasn't even that smooth of a run. Zell bit it to a Savage at like 30% with almost two full bars. Later Rikku and Ramza both got paralyzed when Vanille was out of Ultra Cures and Enkidu was still down. Still won; Onion Knight double-OSBed for the KO.
Can't deny the power of a solid multipurpose foundation, I guess. Only Hydra remains now. Doubt I can cheat that one quite so easily, though. Maybe when Earth Exploding Fist comes out?

I'm going to say not enough damage. Sera with +30% magic tickles at best. Celes does better but still not enough. I tried them first too.

Yeah, I was hoping that the two +30% would let Serah make something of the fight, but that was even worse than my Liquid Flame attempt.

Whatever, I'm going to go wreck the new torment and maybe feel a little better about myself.
"I will write your name in the ruin of them. I will paint you across history in the color of their blood."
Lifesiphon and wind+ armor on cloud probably made 20 sec difference. Zack is still fairly useless with Omega Drive. If only he could use some kind of multi hit wind attack at least he could drive up the chain. Wish I could put Dual cast on Fujin because she isn't doing a ton of damage either, but she drives up the chain nicely. Second Shell dragon, so maybe Hydra will be a go?
Have you guys been saving or spending your arcana? I have not spent any yet.
Just beat the 3CM. The first attempt, Squall came up short and the boss was left with 10% while Relm was out of medicas. On my second try, I bashed it's face in for 40k per hit with Squall's BSB2 entry. The only difference between the two was me putting Lulu's dress on Squall.
I literally just beat a FF boss by adding more belts and zippers.

Figured out why one of my Ruby Dragon runs had him bounce Reflect off himself. He can cast Reflect normally (with a refusal based on whether he has it already or not), on top of his Counter Reflect chance.
I must have triggered his Counter Reflect while he was in the cast bar of his own Reflect, which would have already passed the point of checking for status.

There's no practical difference IMO between a level 1 magicite and a level 50 magicite, or between a level 51 magicite and a level 64 magicite. Whenever I get a duplicate 3* magicite to break a cap with, I spend the arcana to get up to the old cap so I can break it, but otherwise I don't really see the point.
Torment was actually kind of fun with Ayame and Lion. I tossed in Vaan for so, so much breakage. And then ultraclouded Lion and Vaan. Lion was hitting like a truck, I gotta figure out what combination I was using for that. She was out DPSing Vaan, which almost never happens.
I forgot to even use a magicitie ice Imperil but Ayame's OSB was maxing out after buffs and breaks. Now to figure out who to use these delicious motes for!
Torment farming for VIII is proving pretty easy if questionably useful. 3/3 with greater drops. Hopefully my luck will turn soon.
It would be cool if I could get that ice imperil magicite as well. I enjoy having a level 80 Sea Lion but I don't think I need much more. It is fun watching it hit for what would normally be significant damage. 4500 a hit on entry with serious ice chain up. Chain damage is so much more effective than I thought it would be as well with proper planning. Nothing like getting a second 80% damage boost to an elemental weakness. Makes me wonder what I could do with Lightning USB and Shantoto's CSB. Here's to hoping it pops up for me at some point in the future.

Hell yeah! Just went and cleared the Ruby Dragon Jumpstart (Rinoa, Shantotto, Zell, Selphie, Mog). Then I took those shiny Spirit motes and fully Legend Dove Terra.
Then I took my newly improved Ice-killer team and roasted Sealion, this time getting a sub-minute clear and a Champion medal! Trance is so good. And it lasts so long. She used so many Wraths and Scorching Flames in the span of one Fire aura. I gotta find a better strategy for triggering it, though. Locke maybe needs more levels; at 81, equipped with a Fritt Mirage, he couldn't manage to drop Terra to Trance HP with one Lifesiphon. It took two, and some assistance from the boss.
Anyway, yeah. Lots of rewards this day. Feels good.

My three best elements are wind, fire, and dark. Two of those heal it, and the third one it still resists even with imperil x3. Even with two people with enDark I was having a hard time with that. I have effectively zero ice, so I managed with a scraped together Holy team now that I finally have an imperil holy. But I'll be damned if I'm getting much of the way of the CMs this time around. Woof.
At least these return, so I'm not missing the motes, just delaying having them.

Almost back up to the exact mythril point I was at just prior to the surprise Lightning USB banner...months ago, less than a day before Bartz USB shows up.
If I wasn't at 6 stamina after taking the Bark Breakers into another fight with fenrir (Wing Raptor this time), I'd do some story dungeons to get to an even 150.

Hmm so, two conclusions on hydra. One, enkidu is better than golem. Two, Maria BSB with imperil and six hits will be easily outdamaged by radiant shield.

Third Bismarck is nice, since at 80 that'll give a level 10 Resistance boon. Bottomswell is so lonely
