LOL. They're running wild after some shenanigans on my part, so technically it's no one's but at some point we can come unclaim it so it can be claimed by someone else.
Are people finally going to be playing this again? It became really un-fun to try and play on empty servers . . .

Hmm... Wait, this is different... it turns out Host Havoc updated their tool and now difficulty is a slider with sane numbers on it. But that means it's not possible for Geth to roll difficulty 15 anymore...
New Mechanic!
Geth, roll 1d4 for Critical Effect
1= no change
2= +1

Regen Boost

Secondary Boost - Taming! Difficulty is increased by 5 to 12, leading to wild dinos max level of.... 360.
Strike that, Geth rolled an additional 4 on the crit...
Difficulty is increased by 15, leading to wild dinos max level of.... 450.
Because our default taming speed is now 5x, it has been multiplied to 25x

That said, servers will be offline for a bit because it looks like they messed up when they updated the command line tool. It's not putting the difficulty in correctly.

Christ, I had a 75 Alpha Karkinos hanging around that must have soaked like over 100k damage to kill. Killed me multiple times, even with over 2k armor.
On the plus side, killing it got me enough experience to get a Keep Foundry. Hooray! No more using 5x refining forges to get metal ingots at a reasonable rate! And only one level from scuba gear!

Didn't fliers used to land if idle? They seem to be hovering forever up in the sky these days, which is a pain if they get high enough you can't whistle them down.
It was that somehow, from within the derelict-horror, they had learned a way to see inside an ugly, broken thing... And take away its pain.

I have some updates. We're not doing random boosts anymore.
So looking at the servers, I think we've all reduced our playtime to fairly minimal amounts, if not outright stopped playing. We're also coming up on a year since we relaunched on Ragnarok. I've had a lot of fun, but I think at this point it's time to move on.
Both our servers will be ending at the end of the current billing cycle. Which in this case is 5/24 for the Ragnarok server and 5/27 for the Aberration server.
On 5/22, I will be making a full backup of both servers and posting a link here so people can download the files. I will also include our settings files.
In the meantime, I am setting most of our 'Boosts' to the max rate Geth could randomly roll. This will last until the servers go dark.
That means:
Difficulty is now set to 15, for a max wild dino cap of 450
Taming speed is 25x
Egg Hatching speed is 25x
Baby Maturation speed is 25x
Egg laying interval 25x faster
Crop Growth Speed is 5x
Spoiling time is 5x longer
Harvest Amounts are 5x
Unicorns should spawn about once an hour
Player Food will drain 5x slower
Player Water will drain 5x slower
Player Toughness is now 5x
Tamed Dino Toughness is now 5x
Player Health regens 5x faster
Tamed Dino Health regens 5x faster
XP gains are now 5x
Fishing Loot quality is now 5x
I have also enable Extinction Mode because why not. That boosts some things by 2x but I am unsure specifically what. It will probably make some stuff crazy high.

I know ARK is planning some more DLC, and I'll be down for playing that whenever it comes out. We can sort that out whenever it gets announced.
Thank you for all the effort you have spent on the servers! I haven't been on for quite some time, but I'm excited to jump back in as soon as the next expansion hits.
Aberration was an interesting experiment, but the incredible hostility of the world ended up putting me off much earlier than I'd hoped. Can't wait to see which direction they take the next one!
Indeed Mudd, thanks for hosting. Thanks for the weekend events, for the Market, and for the Bosses. It was the most fun I've had on Ark...
Though I dread having to tell Sallah that soon her crazy horse breeding will come to an end. Seriously, crazy. It's like a Fruit Stripe Gum add in our barn.
Decomposey on
Before following any advice, opinions, or thoughts I may have expressed in the above post, be warned: I found Keven Costners "Waterworld" to be a very entertaining film.

Well, she'll have the save file, so she can visit them whenever.

And technically, with the files, anyone could conceivably rehost them, even on a private server of their own, if they so choose. At least, if I understand things right.
In a way, the shut down is both a curse and a blessing. A curse because I always enjoy ARK, and a blessing because without people to play with I don't have a reason to add even more time to this the game I have played thousands of hours on.
I wouldn't trade any of the fun back, but it'll give me time to work on other games without worrying about if my stuff is going to die.

Ahhh, murder beach. Where I started. That skeleton on the left? I remember setting up a thatch hut in there, along the cliff wall. When it got to be night time, it was PITCH black, and I spent a lot of time huddled up in the thatch with giant dinos outside stomping around, praying that a T-Rex didn't spawn. Unfortunately, it didn't survive - Mudd had to kill all my clan structures at one point. Oh well!
I'm not entirely sure why I built this bridge, I'm pretty sure everyone had flying mounts by the time I made it, but I like to think I contributed in some small way to accessibility for the Flying-Challenged.
I am going to miss the fuck out of this house. Accessed by a ladder that comes up through the floor that never 100% worked as intended (I would always get clipped by a weird bounding box on the left of the ladder and would have to run up the side of the stone to avoid it), I'm sort of shocked it panned out at all. I was never able to make it as cozy as I wanted, though... too many benches to put down.
I'm disappointed I never got Seabase really going. It does have power, though! Fed AAAAAAALLLLL the way down from the surface. Made sure to place the wind turbine in a 100% wind area so power would never drop.
It even has a handy warning light in case someone was sailing at night. Heh.
Goodbye, my summer home. Goodbye, my seabase. It was a blast.
The upside to playing single is I'll always have my map handy.
Maybe one day I will build something even close to the above!

When I play single player, I always get a functional box house where I mean to build a proper base later, but there's always something else to do and I never get around to it.
