eh, if I get her I won't complain, but I'm not pulling for her. She's kind of like Zarg + Rem. I like the dual case auto-raise and MP refresh but everything else I have on multiple other units.
Other folks were experimenting with Barb on Marlboro and early results are incredibly promising for how much damage Tornado+Aeroja is each turn.
I seriously need to get these magic TMs done.
Hadn't seen/heard much so blew some energy just to see.
Using my Barb (1130 or something mag) and a friend (1000+) (and just a 40% mag buff from Lunera), it was pretty easy to kill the adds in 3 turns if I wanted, without using any breaks (didn't have a breaking unit and forgot I moved my pouch/world destroyer to bonus units). I just ignored their resist buff when they got it. After killing the adds, Malboro went from 100->62% in the first weakened phase and I didn't have max aeroja on him yet. I just gave up since it satisified my curiosity but now I wonder if I could kill him in the second weakened phase.
So seems pretty good. She's more frail than GLS though but you can work around it.
As an aside, one of the guys nabbed for injecting on my friends list left up a 1200 or so mag GLS, so pretty awesome that will be around on my list to pair with. Can deal with an inactive friend for that
Forgot that my Barb had the whip equipped which would have included the killers. I didn't think to check if my friend's did.

Wilhelm's enhancements look great. But I need so many materials to enhance him. And grinding the Chamber is booooooring.
After messing around with Cag a bit... what's his deal? Is he just a tank? I have him decked out in gear and his HP and DEF are pretty good, but his ATK/MAG are real low
Neither of the 4* units seem all that good compared to even moderate 4* units from elsewhere.
Any effect that says "raise stat X by Y% after dropping below Z% HP" doesn't stack with other casted party buffs, right? So, say, Soliel's buffs would make most/all of those irrelevant?

The only thing he does (well) is just soak up single target hits. Which can be really useful to have (ie, great on malboro), or not, depending on the encounter. Good tool to have in the box if you don't have wilhelm/wkn.
I'm not pulling next week. I need to make certain I get Mistair.
Sure, he (she?) goes into the pool, but I still haven't pulled Ashe yet and it's been ages since her banner. I didn't get Vanille for her Magistral Crest until a few months ago.
I have terrible luck with on-banner units, though. I spent tons of tickets trying to get Sylvia but failed. More tickets than I currently have, actually. More tickets than I'll have when the Mistair banner shows up.

I'm a little curious what they'll do with Mistair. Bloody moon is plenty doable without her (though becomes a lot easier with her), but she became almost necessary for a lot of content after her, becoming as needed or more needed than bards were in some cases.
Despite lots of complaining and things like no Ramza, Gumi has been pretty good in giving us the tools needed prior to the harder content (granted, malboro is kind of tough but has been getting power creeped too). Vanille and Meliadoul for accessible reraises for robot, T.Terra enhancements (plus things like GLS) for Moon, etc. Units like Ling/Zarg/iNichol/kArianna. GE buff to Earth Veritas. Cag for a (more) accessible & durable provoke tank. Feel like there were some other examples. Lack of Ramza is a pain in some ways, but really hasn't prevented much.
So am just curious if she'll just come in as expected, get delayed because she was so critical, or if they'll add other AE magic cover tools (xmas unit/enhancements or who knows).

I don't necessarily disagree. I've been doing just fine as the littlest minnow (though I haven't tried the Chamber of Arms or Malboro yet), but Ling, iNichol, and Kitty Ariana are all limited exclusives. Zarg is a 5 star. T.Terra also a 5 star. These units are difficult to get.
What do people prefer in a MAG accessory, Ashe's Ring, Magistral Crest, or Magic Amp? For damage dealers, I'd assume Ashe's is the best. Do people go for the crest as Vanille was easier to pull? I'm wonder which one to shoot for next. Crest and Amp would allow for use on a healer or tank.

There's an OP unit that uses Spr as Mag on the Sephirot banner. Magistral Crest has +30% Spr. I can also put it on Lunera for extra healing/mp recovery.
Ashe's Ring's +30% MP isn't that impressive to me, but that 50% light resistance is pretty good. And it'll get more important when you need 150% resistance on tanks.
For me, Magistral Crest was my only option. Don't have an Ashe.
[edit] Don't have Grace either. Her TMR... I don't know. Numerically, it's impressive, but MP isn't that important anymore what with greater access to MP recovery. Unless you're using Tilith as an MP battery, in which case stacking MP can be a good idea.
It's okay, I guess, but I would pick Magistral Crest over Magic Amplifier for mages. There's an argument to be made that Magic Amplifier is better for healers than Magistral Crest, though.
Brute forced my way through the rest of the Crystal Tower story. Those last two boss fights are something I was neither expecting or will ever be prepared for. Behemoth especially was harder than most of the damn trail bosses.
Edit: how much more of that garbage can I expect?

I have two Ashes and a soccer team full of Vanilles. I did two Crests first for TT, and am just finishing up the two rings (with the goal of doing one Crest and one ring for each TT or Ashe, depending on the situation.
Retooled my Reinhardt's Wilhelm's equipment; he now has 10,707 HP, 661 DEF, 462 SPR, and is immune to every status effect except poison/disease. I can drop down from his TMR shield to Genji Shield and lose some defensive stats for Death Immunity, or lose some HP and status resistances to bring him up to 50% Evade.

I'd prefer Magistral Crest on magic damage dealers due to the SPR. Most of the time the only appreciable damage your magic damage dealers will be getting hit with is AoE magic, and having the boost to SPR helps them survive a bit better. When AoE Magic tanks start being a thing, I'd transition to Ashe's Ring most likely.
Which reminds me, I have a couple Ashe that I haven't TMR farmed yet, which makes up for my lack of extra Vanilles.
Magistral Crest is great on characters like Fryevia, the extra SPR is handy to weather AoE magic attacks, anything helps because she's pretty squishy.
For GL Sakura? I plan on using Ashe's Ring and a Magic Amp (only have one Ashe), mainly because she doesn't have built in auto-refresh and has to drop 100 MP in order to do a double Soul Barrage, so a larger MP pool helps. She also has pretty high HP and SPR already, so is already pretty durable in comparison to other mages. I plan on getting her Dark Fina's Swimsuit which will give her an auto-refresh and a large MP pool will mean refreshing more MP which would help with staying power (along with Ayaka or I. Nichol for extra MP regen).

Next big boss will of course one-shot the highest def in your party. With Poison.

GL Sakura probably only needs one accessory now. Tomorrow's challenge boss drops a MAG +30 (that's flat 30, not 30%) accessory. So with her MAG doublehand, that's a nice sweet 60 MAG points. Only downside is you have to kill the boss with an esper to get it.

Beat Golbez. Wasn't too difficult if you have a Rikku to lean on.
Advice for the 5-man challenge: all the attacks are basically magic, magic AoE, or fixed damage. Other than maybe wanting to draw the fixed damage auto-ko attack to specific unit, I found WoL tank to be totally useless. Golbez is also full break resistant. Same yourself a unit slot and don't bring a tank.
So ummm...freakin how do you even Golbez? Is this another fight where the fact that this game refuses to give me magic Chainers means its unwinnable? I keep reading that people OHKO the Shadow Dragon and my Orlandeau/Agrias chaining cant even knock out 10%
Team was Tillith for heals. Wilhelm to be useless. Cid/Agrias, and Rikku for HyperNullall and a Limit meter that never fills as fast as I need it to.

Probably not, I just suck at being able to create anything resembling a sound strategy in this game. If it cant be killed with a chain then I'm completely useless.

It's the same as it was in JP. The mechanics are straightforward although there is a point once the dragon dies where RNG could result in Golbez setting your HP to 10 and then doing an AOE attack. Notably, mages are WORSE for this fight as his SPR is significantly higher than his DEF.
