I just don't have much for my Switch to play that warrants me taking it out of the house. Splatoon 2's offline single player is meh and I'm done with Zelda until the final bit of DLC releases. Few of the indie games that would have me obsessing over them have released yet. Meanwhile I've got an entire shelf full of perfectly good 3ds games that need playing.
I just bought a case for mine, so I might bring it with me more places now. Sometimes I work late and there's nothing going on at work. Time for some Rabbids.
Over the labor day holiday we had to take a ferry to our destination. Mini DoctorArch (who is 4) was getting bored so I broke out the Switch and put it on one of the tables in tablet mode so he could play Mario Kart. Another little boy wanted to play, and that is how two little boys played Mario Kart on a ferry boat.
Yup, my Brother in Law was driving my wife and I up to Pittsburgh for a wedding. On the way up we setup the switch in the middle seat and played a few rounds of Mario Kart.
As a parent of a boy who will be old enough to want to play games soon, I can definitely see the Switch's utility out of the house once that day comes.

So you were driving a kart while inside of a car?
This is too much for me, I can't deal with this. Don't you dare tell me that the car was actually in one of those car-transport trucks.

I have my own crazy conspiracy theory on why we aren't seeing more Wii U ports on Switch.
It's because Nintendo wants to port those games to the 3DS's successor instead.
"But wait!" I hear you exclaim. "Doesn't Nintendo want to consolidate all of its game development onto a single hardware platform? Wasn't that the entire point of making a high-end handheld that can output to a TV instead of a home console?"
Oh you poor sucker, you fell for it! That was never Nintendo's plan. We all just wanted that to be true, because we're sick and tired of Nintendo wasting half of its development resources on a low-end handheld instead of their biggest and best hardware. But Nintendo knows that all those Japanese grade schoolers who lined up to buy 3DSs so they could trade pokémon on the playground aren't going to be buying a $300 Switch. Plus, Nintendo really likes how you keep paying them twice every generation. They want you to keep doing that.
So did you skip the Wii U? Or maybe you just want a portable way to play all those classic games? Well then you'd better be prepared to pony up another $180+ for the New Nintendo 4DS XL Lite Advanced, Slick, because that's the only place you're gonna be able to get them.
I absolutely believe this, insofar as that Nintendo has, in some form, a DS successor in a Deep Room somewhere, with DS titles aligned in contingency for such a thing. Kind of like how people assume that because Apple is releasing an iPhone 8 and an iPhone X in the same year, they're never making an iPhone 9-not so. They're totally making an iPhone 9, while at the same time they re-release the X in new colors.
Although, given the ongoing manufacturing/material allocation challenges of the Switch, I could almost believe some scenario where by phasing out the DS line Nintendo can count on more Switch units being generated by their barracks.

I'm reminded of when I had to turn down reviewing Bayonetta & Bayonetta 2 on Wii U, because they used codes instead of physical copies, and the games would have taken up the entire internal drive, which already had a bunch of stuff on it by that point.
On top of that, the codes would expire, and you couldn't redeem them/purchase a game unless you already had the room on the system.
Fortunately, I did get an external drive eventually, but I barely filled any of it. I did get a small microSD card for the Switch when I saw one on sale, at least.
Like Mega Man Legends? Then check out my story, Legends of the Halcyon Era - An Adventure in the World of Mega Man Legends on TMMN and AO3!

His voice was really grating so I had to stop at about 4 minutes in. What other topics does he go on about other than NBA2k and Dragon Quest Heroes?
That video title alone just screams YouTube clickbait. The storage is hardly an issue at all. SD cards are dirt cheap, and physical copies don't have the massive installs that you see on PS4/XBO. But "MASSIVE PROBLEM" gets clicks.

There was a trick where you could redeem a code on the website/ buy games on the website. I used it because I got a WiiU for Christmas with only a week left on the digital deluxe deal and bought some real garbage to hit the quota.

Its the same nonsense people said about the Wii U, 3DS, Xbox, PS3 etc etc... who ended up buying storage if they went on to continue to buy digital games or not clear their HDs of installed content/patches/etc.
I have to clear up space on my XB1 all of the time. My Switch has a nice cheap SD in it. Boom it now has more memory.
A hang on the loading screen that happened when your Switch wasn't powered down for a month has been resolved
Man what a thing to have to diagnose and figure out. Probably only found out about it at the start of April, and may have taken more months to reproduce, and then figure out a fix, and test for another whole month...
The switch being on for a long time can cause really strange bugs. Like blood moons every minute in Zelda or the bugs in Troll and I https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7fBUm3Li2_M
Until he powercycles the game it looks like it should not have passed cert. Characters don't animate right, scenes don't transition correctly, and opening the menu destroys your inventory.

Maybe they'll announce they're going to start releasing amiibos in the US in quantities that actually allow people to buy the popular ones, instead of whole sections full of ancient Luigi/peach/animal crossing ones.

If they could release a 2DS Deluxe model with really nice upgraded screens and enough muscle to scale up/smooth out edges a bit, I'd preorder today.
